SILVER SPRING, MD. — SEPTEMBER 21, 2022 – All-new episodes of TV One’s original docu-series, “UNSUNG” and “UNCENSORED” debut Sunday, September 25. “UNSUNG” leads with R&B legend Tony Terry at 9 p.m. ET/8C followed by “UNCENSORED” featuring award-winning actor and entertainer Kadeem Hardison at 10 p.m. ET/9C. Each episode will be published on TV One’s website TVOne.tv. “UNSUNG,” one of the network’s longest-running and seven-time NAACP Image Award-winning series, highlights the careers and explores the personal lives of some of the most talented and influential Black artists, performers and musicians in history. On this season’s premiere episode, singer Tony Terry shares the journey of his early success, experiencing longevity in the entertainment industry and clears the air in his own words.

Directly following “UNSUNG” is the return of the hit, autobiographical series “UNCENSORED,” which explores the lives of popular celebrities and personalities as they provide first-hand accounts of their successes and the obstacles they faced throughout their careers. The premiere episode highlights award-winning actor Kadeem Hardison. While best known for his iconic role as Dwayne Wayne in the classic “A Different World,” Kadeem transparently and authentically shares the story of his nearly four-decade career.

(SILVER SPRING, Md.) – April 13, 2022 – Today, TV One Networks announced its comprehensive slate of programming across linear and digital networks at the 2022 virtual Upfront presentation. The presentation was led by Michelle Rice, President, TV One and CLEO TV, Susan Henry, Executive Producer in Charge of Production and Senior Director, Original Programming and Production, and Walter Evans, Vice President, Advertising Sales and Marketing. Executives were joined by network talent including Grammy-winning artist Ne-Yo (URBAN ONE HONORS), Jake and Jazz Smollett (LIVING BY DESIGN WITH JAKE AND JAZZ), Taste Award winner Chef Jernard Wells (NEW SOUL KITCHEN) and Taste Award winner Chef Bren Herrera (CULTURE KITCHEN).

TV One Networks continues to lead the charge in representing Black culture. This year, while most competitive networks are down, TV One saw Prime and Fringe increases across key demographics. With a portfolio that includes the NAACP Image award-winning docuseries, UNSUNG, and UNCENSORED, an unfiltered glimpse into the reality of celebrities, TV One is the go-to destination for Black audiences. The network is set to continue its successful slate of original programming that includes the REPRESENT OUR VOICE townhall series which launched two years ago to build awareness and provide information leading up to the presidential election, but has evolved to covering various topics of importance to the Black community. This year, the network’s portfolio of programming will see an addition in the lineup to its True Crime genre with PAYBACK, a gripping new investigative series that examines revenge. TV One is also producing and co-producing several new films which include SAFE ROOM, STALKER, STRANGER NEXT DOOR, LINEAGE, and NEVER WOULD HAVE MADE IT, a Marvin Sapp biopic.

CLEO TV, which launched in 2019, continues to see growth in all day parts. The women’s lifestyle channel shares less than half of its audience with its sister network, TV One. Original programming on CLEO TV includes the award-winning show CULTURE KITCHEN, JUST EATS WITH CHEF JJ, LIFE THERAPY, LIVING BY DESIGN, NEW SOUL KITCHEN, CLEO SPEAKS and CLEO CHRONICLES. Two new series, DECOR REMIXED and GLOBAL GOURMET, debuted on April 6 with new episodes of NEW SOUL KITCHEN REMIX returning in June. Additionally, CLEO TV’s distribution continues to rise with a presence on AT&T U-verse and plans for YouTube TV and HULU Live.

TV One Networks began this year with a successful premiere of Urban One Honors, which aired on TV One and CLEO TV on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The awards ceremony surpassed last year’s premiere by double-digits among L+3 P25-54 and W25-54 and P2+ delivery (+52%/+31%/+20%). The premiere brought in 677,000 P2+ unique viewers across the TV One and CLEO TV telecasts. The 52 percent increase in TV One ratings exceeded estimates for the network as the ceremony landed in the top 10 programs on ad-supported cable in its time period among P25-54 Black audiences (excluding sports). The network is preparing for Urban One Honors to return to an in-person show in 2023.

Each quarter TV One and CLEO TV uniquely celebrate holidays and cultural moments that are significant in Black and multicultural communities through thematic programming, special events and partnership opportunities. ATL HOMICIDE

The TV One True Crime show continues to recreate cases as told by David Quinn and Vince Velazquez, two retired Atlanta Police Department homicide detectives. The show’s unique format intertwines narration by Quinn, Velazquez, and other APD investigators, with re-enactments by actors.

FATAL ATTRACTION

Driven by powerful, real-life stories, FATAL ATTRACTION offers intimate, first-person accounts, exclusive interrogation footage and rare archival material. Along the way, viewers get a glimpse into the dark heart of dangerous romances. And for them, what starts as a nagging bitterness evolves into obsession…and results in the ultimate payback…murder. Sometimes these are cold, calculated attacks. The hit autobiographical series UNCENSORED explores the lives of popular personalities as they provide first-hand accounts of their success and the obstacles they faced throughout their careers. This episode will highlight the rapper in his own words as he discusses his more than 30-year career and legacy in hip hop. Raised in Yonkers, New York, by his mother, DMX was considered a “problem” as early as kindergarten. A tumultuous relationship with his mother caused him to bounce between boys’ homes and eventually detention centers. However, battle rapping solidified his love for the art, and his first break was a feature in The Source Magazine’s Unsigned Hype column in 1991. In 1992, he was signed to Ruffhouse Records. His debut album, It’s Dark, and Hell is Hot, didn’t arrive until 1998, but it peaked at No.1 on the Billboard 200. He quickly followed up with his second album, Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood, making him the first living artist to release two chart-topping albums in the same year. He eventually released six more studio albums, with three more reaching No. 1 and one reaching No. 2. His success in music primed him for acting. He starred in Hype Williams’ hip hop classic Belly and followed that success with roles in Romeo Must Die and Exit Wounds.

Episode Description: Larenz Tate is probably best known for his role as the smooth talking, poet-reciting Darius Lovehall from the cult classic film, Love Jones but, Larenz rose to fame after playing the role of O-Dog in the 1993 teen drama film Menace II Society. He has gone on to star in both iconic television series and movies that continue to move the culture.

TYRESE

Airs: Sunday, September 13 at 10 P.M./9C

Episode Description: Tyrese Gibson was born December 30, 1978 in Watts, Los Angeles, California, where he was raised. He is an R&B singer, songwriter, actor, author, television producer and model. He is well known for his actor role as Roman Pearce in the The Fast and Furious movie franchise. Other popular movies Tyrese has acted in are Death Race, Transformers, Baby Boy and Legion.

EVE

Airs: Sunday, September 20 at 10 P.M./9C

Episode Description: Eve is a rapper and actress, best known for hits like ‘What Ya Want,’ and her Grammy-winning “Let Me Blow Ya Mind” collab with Gwen Stefani. She’s also starred in the Barbershop film franchise. A self-proclaimed “pitbull in a skirt” – an epithet better suited to her tomboyish early years than now – Eve was barely out of her teens when she had her first No. 1 album in 1999. By 2002, she had two more hit albums and won a Grammy – her sound and colorful personal style bridging the gap between the feminist Queen Latifah and the more overtly sexual Lil’ Kim. Since 2017, Eve has been one of the hosts of the CBS Daytime talk show, The Talk and in 2014 she married Maximillion Cooper, the British multimillionaire founder of the celebrity motor rally Gumball 3000, and now lives with him in London.

YANDY SMITH-HARRIS

Episode Description: Yandy Smith is a Harlem born, entertainment manager and entrepreneur. In 2004, she graduated from Howard University and interned at Violator under the mentorship of Mona Scott-Young. In 2005, Yandy met Jim Jones on a private jet charted by Russell Simmons and left Violator to manage him full-time. In 2006, Yandy approached Mona to retool a TV pilot show and the concept was tweaked to include Jim’s girlfriend Chrissy and her circle of friends, becoming what would be later known as Love & Hip Hop. Through her time a cast member and manager, the hustle has always remained. She is now a wife to long time love Mendeecees Harris, mother and the longest running cast member on Love & Hip Hop.

JENIFER LEWIS

Episode Description: Actress, singer, diva, activist, and the “Mother of Black Hollywood,” Jenifer Lewis is a force to be reckoned with. She began her career appearing in Broadway musicals and worked as a back-up singer for Bette Midler and has shown no signs of slowing down. Known as the Mother of Black Hollywood who has played everyone’s mom, from Tupac’s character in Poetic Justice, Whitney Houston’s mother in The Preacher’s Wife, Tina Turner’s mom, Zelma Bullock, in What’s Love Got to Do With It to Ruby on Black-ish.

Episode Description: Debbie Allen is a multi-hyphenate- actress, dancer, choreographer, singer-songwriter, producer, and director. (SILVER SPRING, MD) – July 28, 2020 – TV One’s original auto-biographical series UNCENSORED resumes for its third season with premiere episodes debuting on Sunday, September 6 at 10 P.M. ET/9C. The edgy docu-series explores the private lives of some of today’s most notable personalities including actor Larenz Tate, singer/actor Tyrese, rapper/TV personality Eve, producer/TV personality Yandy Smith-Harris, actor Omari Hardwick, actress/singer Jenifer Lewis and actress/choreographer/director Debbie Allen. This season also includes five bonus episodes including UNCENSORED: Black Girl Magic, UNCENSORED: Scandals, UNCENSORED: Hip-Hop, UNCENSORED: Black Hollywood and UNCENSORED: Big Break.

“We’re excited for the return and talent line-up for this season of Uncensored, which is one of the network’s top-rated series,” said Executive Producer in Charge of Production Jason Ryan. “Viewers will get to experience the intimate revelations of some of their favorite celebrities.”

The auto-biographical series, which was taped pre-COVID-19, delves into the lives of luminaries as they reveal secrets to their success, obstacles they faced and how they’ve navigated the perils of social media that helped but sometimes haunted their careers. Viewers will get a glimpse into the lives of high-profile celebrities as they reveal their own stories, in their own words.

TV One will also launch a weekly UNCENSORED pre-show digital series on www.tvone.tv featuring informative and humorous commentary from the voices behind the popular Bossip.com headlines. Each week, the hosts will discuss the featured celebrity and provide sneak previews of the upcoming UNCENSORED episode. Each pre-show will be available on TV One’s YouTube channel.
