Apple TV+ to premiere new seasons of returning hit series “The Mosquito Coast,” “Mythic Quest,” “Slow Horses” and “Little America” this fall

Apple TV+ today unveiled the premiere dates for highly anticipated, hit series set to return with new seasons this fall, beginning with “The Mosquito Coast” continuing its high-stakes journey in season two on November 4; celebrated workplace comedy “Mythic Quest” returning for season three on November 11; widely acclaimed spy drama “Slow Horses” season two premiering on December 2; and, the Independent Spirit Award-nominated anthology “Little America” returning with eight brand new, heartfelt installments on December 9.

The new seasons will premiere alongside an expanding slate of series and films from today’s biggest storytellers also debuting this fall on Apple TV+ including Peter Farrelly’s latest film “The Greatest Beer Run Ever” starring Zac Efron and making its global debut on Apple TV+ this Friday September 30; “Shantaram,” the new Apple Original starring Charlie Hunnam and based on the internationally best-selling novel by Gregory David Roberts premiering on October 14; “Causeway,” the acclaimed new Apple Original film starring and produced by Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence premiering in theaters and on Apple TV+ on November 4; and, “Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me” the new documentary feature about singer, songwriter, actress, producer, entrepreneur and activist Selena Gomez that will also debut November 4, on Apple TV+.

New seasons debuting this fall on Apple TV+ include:

THE MOSQUITO COAST

Season two premieres Friday, November 4

Based on Paul Theroux’s best-selling novel and starring Justin Theroux, Melissa George, Logan Polish, and Gabriel Bateman, “The Mosquito Coast” follows the dangerous journey of Allie Fox, a brilliant inventor and stubborn idealist, who uproots his family on a dangerous quest to find refuge from the U.S. government, cartels, and hitmen. In season two, after barely escaping Mexico with their lives, the Foxes venture deep into the Guatemalan jungle to meet up with an old friend and her community of refugees. This new refuge creates trouble for the Foxes though when they become entangled in a conflict between the scions of a local drug lord. At odds about whether to settle down or keep moving, Allie and Margot pursue different paths to secure their family’s future. The outcome of which will either unite the family or tear it apart forever.

The second season of “The Mosquito Coast” is executive produced by Mark V. Olsen and Will Scheffer, Stefan Schwartz, Evan Katz, Rupert Wyatt, author Paul Theroux, and series star Justin Theroux. Alan Gasmer, Peter Jaysen and Bob Bookman serve as executive producers for Veritas Entertainment Group. The series is created for television and executive produced by Neil Cross. Developed by Neil Cross & Tom Bissell, “The Mosquito Coast” is a Fremantle Production for Apple TV+.

“The Mosquito Coast” season two will premiere with the first episode, followed by one new episode weekly through January 6, 2023.

MYTHIC QUEST

Season three premieres Friday, November 11

Returning for its highly anticipated 10-episode third season this fall, “Mythic Quest” is the workplace comedy from creators Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day and Megan Ganz that follows a group of video game developers tasked with building worlds, molding heroes and creating legends, but the most hard-fought battles don’t occur in the game — they happen in the office.

In season three, as Ian and Poppy navigate the gaming world and their partnership at the newly formed GrimPop Studios, Dana is forced to play mediator to her bosses’ incessant bickering. Back at Mythic Quest, David settles into his new role as the boss where he truly finds himself in charge for the first time with Jo returning as his assistant — more loyal and militant than ever; and Carol attempts to figure out where she fits in after a new promotion. At Berkeley, Rachel struggles to balance her morals with capitalism, while a post-prison Brad tries to return to society as a reformed man.

“Mythic Quest” is executive produced by McElhenney and Day under their RCG banner, Michael Rotenberg and Nicholas Frenkel on behalf of 3Arts, and Jason Altman, Danielle Kreinik and Gérard Guillemot for Ubisoft Film and Television. Hornsby and Ganz also executive produce. The series is produced for Apple TV+ by Lionsgate, 3 Arts Entertainment and Ubisoft.

“Mythic Quest” season three will premiere with the first two episodes on Friday, November 11, followed by one new episode weekly through January 6, 2023.

SLOW HORSES

Oldman stars as Jackson Lamb, the brilliant but irascible leader of the spies, who end up in Slough House due to their career-ending mistakes as they frequently find themselves blundering around the smoke and mirrors of the espionage world. The ensemble cast includes Academy Award nominee Kristin Scott Thomas, BAFTA Scotland Award winner Jack Lowden, Saskia Reeves, Rosalind Eleazar, Christopher Chung, Freddie Fox, Chris Reilly, Samuel West, Sophie Okonedo, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Kadiff Kirwan and Academy Award nominee Jonathan Pryce.

The series is produced for Apple TV+ by See-Saw Films and adapted for television by Will Smith (“Veep”). Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Douglas Urbanski, Gail Mutrux, Will Smith, Jane Robertson and Graham Yost serve as executive producers on the series. Saul Metzstein is set to direct the third season.

Season two will premiere with two episodes followed by one new episode weekly, every Friday through December 30.

LITTLE AMERICA

Season two premieres Friday, December 9

Inspired by the true stories featured in Vox Media Studios’ Epic Magazine, “Little America” is a BAFTA, Independent Spirit, NAACP Image and GLAAD Media Award-nominated series that goes beyond the headlines to look at the funny, romantic, heartfelt, inspiring and surprising stories of immigrants in America, when they’re more relevant now than ever.

Hailing from executive producers Emmy nominee Lee Eisenberg, Academy Award nominees Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon, Academy Award winner Siân Heder, Emmy Award winner Alan Yang and Epic Magazine, the second season of the series will explore eight incredible stories inspired by real people from around the world, including a Belizian woman (Stacy Rose) who works for a Hasidic family in New York, a Korean man (Ki Hong Lee) who makes hats for the Black church community in 1980s Detroit, and the story of a 40-something Japanese woman in Columbus, Ohio (Shiori Ideta) whose dream is to assemble an all-women’s baseball league to fulfill her lifelong passion for the sport.

“Little America” is written and executive produced by Lee Eisenberg (“WeCrashed,” “The Office,” “Good Boys”), who serves as showrunner, and executive produced by Kumail Nanjiani (“The Big Sick,” “Silicon Valley”), Emily V. Gordon (“The Big Sick”), Alan Yang (“Master of None,” “Parks and Recreation”), Siân Heder (“CODA,” “Tallulah,” “Orange Is the New Black”), Epic Magazine’s Joshuah Bearman (“Argo”), Joshua Davis (“Spare Parts”) and Arthur Spector (“Breaking”). The complete second season will premiere with eight new installments on Friday, December 9.

Apple TV+ today announced a two season order for the critically acclaimed espionage series “Slow Horses,” starring Academy Award winner Gary Oldman, to be adapted from the next two novels in the CWA Gold Dagger Award-winning Mick Herron spy series “Slough House.”

In season three of “Slow Horses,” Jackson Lamb’s disgraced spies work together to foil a rogue agent when one of their own is kidnapped. Season four opens with a bombing that detonates personal secrets, rocking the already unstable foundations of Slough House.

Today at the Television Critics Association (TCA) Winter Press Tour, Apple TV+ shared a glimpse at new and returning Apple Originals set to make their global debut in the months ahead. Following the recent premieres of critically acclaimed series such as comedy juggernaut “The Afterparty” from Academy Award winners Christopher Miller and Phil Lord, as well as family favorite “Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock,” the reboot of the beloved classic series, Apple TV+ will continue to expand its slate with highly anticipated, all-original titles every month in 2022 and beyond.

In addition to unveiling first-looks, trailers and premiere dates for soon-to-premiere Apple Original series at TCA, Apple TV+ recently announced new series orders for “Dear Edward,” a new drama series based on the novel by Ann Napolitano that will be written, showrun and executive produced by Jason Katims; and “Presumed Innocent,” a limited series based on the acclaimed book of the same name by Scott Turow that will be reimagined for the screen by master storyteller David E. Kelley.

Viewers can look forward to all of these titles and more, including the second season of global hit, epic saga “Foundation,” which recently debuted a first look at its eagerly awaiting new season, coming soon to Apple TV+, with more premiere dates, series and films to be revealed soon.

Highlights of new and returning titles set to premiere globally on Apple TV+ in the coming months include:

“Suspicion”
A new, high-paced thriller starring Academy Award-nominated actress Uma Thurman about the kidnapping of a prominent American businesswoman’s son.
Premieres globally today, February 4, on Apple TV+.

“Severance”
A new workplace thriller from director and executive producer Ben Stiller, and creator Dan Erickson, starring Academy Award and Emmy Award winner Patricia Arquette, Adam Scott, Emmy Award winner John Turturro, Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, Academy Award winner Christopher Walken and more. In “Severance,” Mark Scout (Scott) leads a team at Lumon Industries, whose employees have undergone a severance procedure, which surgically divides their memories between their work and personal lives. This daring experiment in ‘work-life balance’ is called into question as Mark finds himself at the center of an unraveling mystery that will force him to confront the true nature of his work … and of himself.
The first two episodes of “Severance” premiere Friday, February 18, followed by new weekly installments, every Friday.

“Lincoln’s Dilemma”
A four-part documentary series that explores the legacy of President Lincoln and the country’s complex journey to end slavery. Narrated by Jeffery Wright and featuring the voices of Bill Camp as Abraham Lincoln and Leslie Odom, Jr. as Frederick Douglass, the series is a 21st century examination of a complicated man and the people and events that shaped his evolving stance on slavery.
All four parts of “Lincoln’s Dilemma” will premiere globally on Apple TV+ on Friday, February 18.

“Dear… ” season two
From Emmy and Peabody Award winner R.J. Cutler, “Dear… ” returns for a second season with a new roster of icons, including the late Andre Leon Talley, Viola Davis, Selena Gomez, Malala Yousafzai, Jane Fonda, Ava DuVernay, Billy Porter, Sandra Oh, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Laird Hamilton. Inspired by Apple’s groundbreaking “Dear Apple” spots, “Dear… ” takes an inventive and cinematic approach to biographies of the most iconic figures in society today by using letters written by those whose lives have been changed through their work.
“Dear… ” season two will premiere globally on Apple TV+ on Friday, March 4.

“The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey”
A new limited series starring Samuel L. Jackson as Ptolemy Grey, an ailing man forgotten by his family, by his friends, and by even himself. Suddenly left without his trusted caretaker and on the brink of sinking even deeper into a lonely dementia, Ptolemy is assigned to the care of orphaned teenager Robyn, played by Dominique Fishback. When they learn about a treatment that can temporarily restore Ptolemy’s dementia-addled memories, it begins a journey toward shocking truths about the past, present and future.
“The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey” will premiere globally on Apple TV+ on Friday, March 11 with the first two episodes, followed by one new episode weekly, every Friday.

“WeCrashed”
Starring Academy Award winners Jared Leto and Anne Hathaway, “WeCrashed” is the highly anticipated eight-episode limited series from Lee Eisenberg and Drew Crevello, based on the hit Wondery podcast “WeCrashed: The Rise and Fall of WeWork,” inspired by actual events – and the love story at the center of it all. WeWork grew from a single coworking space into a global brand worth $47 billion in under a decade. Then, in less than a year, its value plummeted. What happened?
“WeCrashed” will premiere globally on Apple TV+ with the first three episodes on March 18, followed by new weekly installments every Friday.

“Pachinko”
Told in three languages – Korean, Japanese, and English – “Pachinko” is the highly anticipated international drama series based on The New York Times bestselling, acclaimed novel of the same name. Epic in scope and intimate in tone, the story begins with a forbidden love and crescendos into a sweeping saga that journeys between Korea, Japan and America to tell an unforgettable story of war and peace, love and loss, triumph and reckoning. “Pachinko” is written and executive produced by Soo Hugh (“The Terror,” “The Killing”), who created the series and serves as showrunner.
“Pachinko” will premiere globally on Apple TV+ with the first three episodes on Friday, March 25.

“Slow Horses”
A new, six-episode drama series adapted from Mick Herron’s CWA Gold Dagger Award-winning novels starring Academy Award winner Gary Oldman, Academy Award nominee Kristin Scott Thomas, Academy Award nominee Jonathan Pryce and Olivia Cooke. “Slow Horses” follows a team of British intelligence agents who serve in a dumping ground department of MI5 – Slough House. Oldman stars as Jackson Lamb, the brilliant but irascible leader of the spies who end up in Slough House due to their career ending mistakes.

“Roar”
A new eight-episode, female-driven anthology series based on a book of short stories by Cecelia Ahern, created by Carly Mensch and Liz Flahive. Featuring an all-star cast, including Academy and Emmy Award winner Nicole Kidman, who also serves as executive producer; Emmy, Grammy and Tony Award winner Cynthia Erivo; Emmy Award winner Merritt Wever and SAG Award nominee Alison Brie; three-time Emmy Award nominee Betty Gilpin, Meera Syal, Fivel Stewart, Kara Hayward and more, “Roar” is a genre-bending anthology series that weaves together eight darkly comedic feminist fables that take unexpected approaches to subjects like gender roles, autonomy and identity.
“Roar” will premiere globally on Apple TV+ on Friday, April 15.

“They Call Me Magic”
A global documentary event, “They Call Me Magic” is the captivating, real life story of the extraordinary, two-time NBA Hall of Famer and cultural icon Earvin “Magic” Johnson. With unprecedented access, the four-part documentary series explores the remarkable accomplishments and global impact of Magic’s life, both on and off the court. Featuring intimate interviews with Magic, his family, and an all-star lineup, this incredible series charts the cinematic life of one of the biggest cultural icons of our era.
All four parts premiere globally on Apple TV+ on Friday, April 22.

“Shining Girls”
An eight-episode metaphysical drama series starring Emmy Award winner Elisabeth Moss, created by Silka Louisa, and based on the best-selling novel by Lauren Beukes. “Shining Girls” follows Kirby Mazrachi (Moss), a Chicago newspaper archivist whose dreams of becoming a journalist were put on hold after surviving a brutal attack that has left her in a constantly shifting reality. When Kirby learns that a recent murder is linked to her assault, she teams up with veteran reporter Dan Velazquez (Wagner Moura) to understand her ever-changing present and confront her past. The gripping thriller also stars Jamie Bell, with Phillipa Soo, Chris Chalk and Amy Brenneman rounding out the ensemble cast.
“Shining Girls” premieres on Apple TV+ on Friday, April 29 with the first three episodes, followed by one new episode weekly, every Friday.

“Tehran” season two
Season two of the Emmy Award-winning global hit thriller adds Academy Award nominee Glenn Close, who will star alongside Niv Sultan, Shaun Toub and Shervin Alenabi. “Tehran” tells the thrilling story of Mossad agent Tamar Rabinyan, who goes deep undercover on a dangerous mission in Tehran that places her and everyone around her in dire jeopardy.
The second season of “Tehran” premieres globally on Apple TV+ on Friday, May 6.

“Now and Then”
Set in Miami, “Now and Then” is an eight-episode bilingual and multi-layered thriller told in Spanish and English that explores the differences between youthful aspirations and the reality of adulthood, when the lives of a group of college best friends are forever changed after a celebratory weekend ends up with one of them dead. Now, 20 years later, the remaining five are reluctantly reunited by a threat that puts their seemingly perfect worlds at risk. Apple TV+ today revealed the premiere date and a first look at the keenly anticipated espionage series “Slow Horses,” starring Academy Award winner Gary Oldman, which will make its worldwide debut on Friday, April 1, 2022. The six-episode drama, adapted from CWA Gold Dagger Award-winning Mick Herron’s first novel in the “Slow Horses” series, will premiere globally on Apple TV+ with the first two episodes, followed by one new episode weekly every Friday.

“Slow Horses” follows a team of British intelligence agents who serve in a dumping ground department of MI5 – Slough House. Oldman stars as Jackson Lamb, the brilliant but irascible leader of the spies who end up in Slough House due to their career-ending mistakes. Joining Oldman is a decorated ensemble cast including Academy Award nominee Kristin Scott Thomas (“Darkest Hour”), Academy Award nominee Jonathan Pryce (“The Two Popes”), BAFTA Scotland Award winner Jack Lowden (“Dunkirk”), and Olivia Cooke (“Sound of Metal”).

The series is produced for Apple by See-Saw Films and adapted for television by Will Smith (“Veep”). Graham Yost executive produces alongside Smith. Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Gail Mutrux and Douglas Urbanski also serve as executive producers on the series. James Hawes directs all six episodes and executive produces.
