27th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards® Celebrate Outstanding Film and Television Performances

27th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards® Celebrate Outstanding Film and Television Performances
LOS ANGELES (April 4, 2021) – The Screen Actors Guild Awards® celebrated the outstanding motion picture and television performances of 2020* at the 27th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, which aired Sunday, April 4, 2021 on TNT and TBS.

Honored with individual awards were Chadwick Boseman, Viola Davis, Daniel Kaluuya and Yuh-Jung Youn for performances in motion pictures, and Mark Ruffalo, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jason Bateman, Gillian Anderson, Jason Sudeikis and Catherine O’Hara for performances in television. The Screen Actors Guild Awards originated awards for the outstanding performances by a motion picture cast and by television drama and comedy ensembles. The Actor® for a motion picture cast performance went this year to “The Trial of The Chicago 7,” while the Actors® for television drama and comedy ensemble performances went this year to “The Crown” and “Schitt’s Creek.”

SAG Awards Producers Jason George and JoBeth Williams revealed the honorees for outstanding action performances during the official live pre-show PEOPLE, Entertainment Weekly & TNT: Screen Actors Guild Awards Pre-Show. The stunt ensemble from “Wonder Woman 1984” was honored for film and the stunt ensemble from “The Mandalorian” was honored for television.

*SAG Awards Eligibility Period: January 1, 2020 – February 28, 2021

This year’s SAG Awards was a one-hour celebration that highlighted and expanded on the show’s signature “I Am An Actor” stories through funny and intimate docuseries-inspired interviews, which were woven throughout the telecast. The SAG Awards unique take on awards season included an upbeat montage recognizing this year’s nominees’ outstanding performances, and an “In Memoriam” tribute presented by Viola Davis honoring the union members lost since last year’s gathering.

Since their creation in 1995, the SAG Awards have benefitted the SAG-AFTRA Foundation. This past year, the SAG-AFTRA Foundation raised and granted over $6.5 million in disaster relief to more than 7,000 SAG-AFTRA artists and families in urgent need of emergency assistance due to COVID-19 and the industry shutdown.

Nominees are chosen by their respective SAG Awards film and television nominating committees and were announced on February 4, 2021. Two nominating panels — one for television and one for film — each composed of 2,500 randomly selected union members from across the United States, chose this year’s nominees. Final voting was open to 129,500 SAG-AFTRA members in good standing. Balloting closed at noon on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 and results were managed by Integrity Voting Systems, the Awards’ official election firm.

TNT, TBS and truTV Announce Premiere Dates in March and April

Chad
Programming Slate Features New Series “Chad,” “Double Cross with Blake Griffin” and “Big Trick Energy,” Alongside Returning Fan-Favorite “American Dad!”

BURBANK, CA – January 21, 2021 – TNT, TBS and truTV unveil March and April premiere dates for three new and two returning shows. The programming slate includes TBS’ new single-camera comedy “Chad” (April 6) and returning top-rated animated comedy “American Dad!” (April 19). Two new series join truTV’s line-up, including limited series “Double Cross with Blake Griffin” (March 19-20) and magic prank show “Big Trick Energy” (April 15). Rounding out April, as previously announced, the “27th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards®” will be simulcast on April 4 on both TNT and TBS.

Premiere dates and series descriptions for TNT, TBS and truTV’s March and April slate include:

TBS

CHAD – Tuesdays at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT beginning April 6
“Chad,” a single-camera comedy, follows a 14-year-old pubescent Persian boy (Nasim Pedrad) as he navigates his first year of high school on a mission to become popular. Chad’s friendships and sanity are pushed to the limits as he uses every tactic at his disposal to befriend the cool kids, while enduring his mother’s new dating life and reconciling with his cultural identity. Pedrad, who first made her mark on “Saturday Night Live,” is also creator, writer, executive producer and showrunner on “Chad.”

AMERICAN DAD! – Mondays at 10 p.m. ET/PT beginning April 19
“American Dad!” centers on super patriotic CIA agent Stan Smith (voiced by Seth MacFarlane) and the misadventures of his unconventional family in Langley Falls, VA. Stan applies the same drastic measures used in his job at the CIA to his home life, where Stan’s blissfully unaware wife, Francine (Wendy Schaal), has an unfaltering loyalty that makes her blind to his unabashed arrogance. His left-wing activist daughter Hayley (Rachael MacFarlane), however, doesn’t let him off so easily – and knows just how to push her father’s buttons. Hayley’s brother is the geeky-yet-confident Steve (Scott Grimes), a kid who spends his time playing video games and obsessing about the opposite sex. The Smith cabinet is rounded out by two rather unconventional members: Roger (MacFarlane), a sassy, sarcastic and routinely inappropriate space alien, and Klaus (Dee Bradley Baker), an attention-starved goldfish with the brain of a German Olympic skier.

truTV

DOUBLE CROSS WITH BLAKE GRIFFIN (four-episode limited series) – Friday, March 19 at 5:30 p.m. & 6:00 p.m. ET/PT and Saturday, March 20 at 5:30 p.m. & 6:00 p.m. ET/PT
“Double Cross with Blake Griffin” serves up an incredibly devious twist as it offers a service to those who are all too often the victims of a prank. Each week, Griffin conspires with people who are tired of being the victim to help them get some sweet revenge on their unsuspecting prankster – by pulling off the ultimate double cross!

Double Cross with Blake Griffin

BIG TRICK ENERGY – Thursdays at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT beginning April 22
Best friends for more than 10 years, master magicians and mischievous daredevils Chris Ramsay, Eric Leclerc, Wes Barker and Alex Boyer venture into the real world to both shock and awe unsuspecting spectators – and each other – with their unique brand of extreme, provocative, mind-blowing magic. Fueled by their camaraderie and spontaneous antics, their radical, unconventional and even dangerous magic defies expectations and completely astonishes their subjects.
