Dystopian Drama Set in World

Los Angeles, CA. 09/28/22 — Fans of films such as “Divergent,” “The Hunger
Games” and “Children of Men” will be eager to watch the latest sci-fi feature film,
“The Deal,” now available exclusively to stream on The Roku Channel. The film, set in
a bleak dystopian world where resources are so scarce one must pay for them with their
life, was created and stars Sumalee Montano (“Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol,” “Ghost of Tsushima”), inspired by Sumalee’s real-life relationship with her mother and the sacrifices she made to give Sumalee a better life. “The Deal” has a running time of 95 Minutes.

Also starring Emma Fischer (“Counterpart”), Alastair Mackenzie (“The Crown”), Taz Skylar (“The Kill
Team”), Lisa Brenner (“The Patriot,” “Say My Name”) and Pearl Mackie (“Doctor Who”), “The Deal,” presents a world where overpopulation and global warming have put an impossible strain on world resources. To combat the global crisis, the totalitarian governing body known as The
Bureau establishes The Deal. Accept The Deal by your 20th birthday, and you’ll receive a job, housing, and medical care that will keep you safe and healthy for twenty more years, after which point you are required to voluntarily take your own life.

Tala Bayani (Montano) took The Deal when she was twenty, pregnant, and alone.
She spent the next nineteen years raising her daughter Analyn (Fischer) and saving
everything she had so her daughter wouldn’t have to take The Deal. Just five days before
Tala’s due to die, Analyn gets an unexpected medical diagnosis. Now the adventure

begins, as Tala fights to get her daughter beyond the reach of The Bureau before her
time is up. However, once you take The Deal, there’s no turning back. The Bureau makes
sure of this.
The film is directed by Orsi Nagypál (“In Treatment,” “The Outpost”), produced by Dean
Devlin (“Independence Day,” “Stargate,” and “Godzilla”), Lisa Brenner, Grace Lay and
Sumalee Montano. It is presented by Dean Devlin’s Electric Entertainment, in association with LinLay Productions, most well-known for the production of the full- length feature film “Nanny,” which won the 2022 Sundance U.S. Grand Jury Prize.
