PARAMOUNT+ TO PREMIERE “THE ENVOYS” (“LOS ENVIADOS”) IN THE UNITED STATES ON THURSDAY, JAN. 20

PARAMOUNT+ TO PREMIERE “THE ENVOYS” (“LOS ENVIADOS”) IN THE UNITED STATES ON THURSDAY, JAN. 20

Produced by Renowned Director, Screenwriter and Oscar ® Winner

Juan José Campanella

Leading Cast Includes Luis Gerardo Méndez, Miguel Ángel Silvestre, and Irene Azuela

Jan. 18, 2022 – Paramount+, the streaming service from ViacomCBS, today announced that the Spanish-language series THE ENVOYS (“Los Enviados”) will premiere in the United States on Thursday, Jan. 20. The original series features an all-star cast, including Luis Gerardo Méndez (“Narcos: Mexico,” “Charlie’s Angels”), Miguel Ángel Silvestre (“Narcos,” “Sense8”), Irene Azuela (“Sense8”), and Miguel Rodarte (“Narcos: Mexico”). Oscar® winner Juan José Campanella (“The Secret in Their Eyes”) serves as showrunner, producer and director. All eight episodes will be available to binge exclusively on Paramount+.

THE ENVOYS tells the mission of two priests from the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, the Vatican team in charge of verifying and studying miracles of potential saints, who are sent to Mexico to verify alleged miraculous healings of another clergyman known for performing them in a mental institution. As soon as they arrive in Mexico City, they receive the news that the priest they are looking for has disappeared without a trace. Their lives and their faith are taken to the limit when they discover a psychiatric colony, located on the suburbs of the town that seems to hide more than one secret: a mystery buried for decades that underlies each inhabitant of the town.

Luis Gerardo Méndez stars as Pedro Salinas, a methodical priest who never breaks the rules and believes in routine, whose greatest desire is to be able to prove his own miracle. He doesn’t want to believe it; he wants to probe it. Star Miguel Ángel Silvestre plays Salinas’ companion and fellow priest Simón Antequera. Antequera has great ambitions within the church and, unlike Salinas, is intuitive and always offers a different point of view. Some years have passed since he has felt the presence of God, despite his being a priest, which is something that worries him.

Adriana Cortés, played by Irene Azuela, will be a key piece in the search for the truth as she witnessed the first two miracles attributed to the clergyman. Cortés takes an active role in finding the location of the man the priests are looking for, whom she considers a brother.

“It’s a dream come true for ‘Los Enviados’ to premiere outside of Spanish-speaking countries for global audiences on Paramount+,” commented Campanella. “It’s the perfect place to showcase the series and the effort of everyone involved in this project, just as it deserves.”

“I feel honored to carry out this project under the gaze of a director like Campanella and with colleagues like Miguel Ángel Silvestre and Irene Azuela,” Méndez said.

“I’m very proud of working for VIS in a production of such dimensions. I’m very happy to belong to this project and that this content is part of Paramount+,” said Silvestre.

“Working with Juan José Campanella was a delight. His knowledge is tremendous, and I’m sure the audience will want to see the story from beginning to end,” Azuela said.

Co-produced by Campanella and his production company 100 Bares, THE ENVOYS is written by Leandro Calderone, Emanuel Díaz and Molo Alcocer. The series is directed by Campanella with Martino Zaidelis, Camilo Antolini and Hiromi Kamata.

The series will also be available on Paramount+ in Australia, Canada and the Nordics on Thursday, Jan. 20.

BIG NATE is executive produced by Mitch Watson (“All Hail King Julien”) and John Cohen (“The Angry Birds Movie”) and produced by Amy McKenna (“Beware the Batman”), with Lincoln Peirce serving as consultant throughout development and production. Bridget McMeel is co-producer.

Peirce’s humor-based books about Nate and his friends have spent more than 150 weeks on the New York Times’ best-seller list. The BIG NATE book series (https://bignatebooks.com/) is published worldwide in 33 languages and available as ebooks and audiobooks and as an app, Big Nate: Comix by U! JACK INGRAM, MIRANDA LAMBERT AND JON RANDALL’S “THE MARFA TAPES” TO PREMIERE JAN. 20

JACK INGRAM, MIRANDA LAMBERT AND JON RANDALL’S “THE MARFA TAPES” TO PREMIERE JAN. 20 EXCLUSIVELY ON PARAMOUNT+

Documentary Film Offers a Rare Glimpse Inside the Making of the GRAMMY® Award-Nominated Album of the Same Name

Jan. 6, 2022 – Paramount+, the streaming service from ViacomCBS, today announced that Jack Ingram, Miranda Lambert and Jon Randall’s THE MARFA TAPES will premiere exclusively on the service Thursday, Jan. 20, and will also roll out in the Nordics, Australia, Latin America, and Canada the same day. The documentary film will offer viewers a rare glimpse inside the making of the 2021 album of the same name, which was recently nominated for Best Country Album at the 64th annual GRAMMY Awards®.

Directed by Spencer Peeples and featuring live performances set against the backdrop of West Texas, THE MARFA TAPES also features candid interviews and behind-the-scenes footage captured during a five-day album recording session in November 2020. Barely a dot on the map, Marfa is an eccentric outpost in the midst of a vast expanse of nothingness, the perfect place to lose—or find—yourself. For Lambert, Randall and Ingram, it’s both. For more than half a decade, the desolate location has become a songwriting haven for the trio, yielding both massive hits and profound personal growth.

Recorded raw and loose with just a pair of microphones and acoustic guitars, THE MARFA TAPES is a stunning work of audio verité, an intimate, unadorned snapshot of a moment in time fueled by love, trust and friendship. The trio recorded much of the album outdoors, inviting the ambient sounds of the desert to seep into their live, bare-bones performances, and the atmosphere is utterly transportive. The result is a candid, unvarnished look at Lambert, Randall and Ingrams’s undeniable chemistry in its purest, most honest form.

THE MARFA TAPES joins Paramount+’s growing slate of music specials, including the recently released MADAME X, Kacey Musgraves’ STAR-CROSSED, OASIS KNEBWORTH 1996, and the upcoming Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett documentary. Sony Music Entertainment’s Premium Content Division is distributing the film.

About Jack Ingram:

A true songwriter’s songwriter, Jack Ingram’s list of admirers reads like a who’s who of modern country and Americana: Taylor Swift, Miranda Lambert, Patty Griffin, Steve Earle, Todd Snider, Little Big Town, Pat Green, the list goes on and on. Born and raised in Texas, Ingram spent more than a decade grinding it out in the trenches before landing his first number one in 2005. Since then, he’s taken home a pair of ACM Awards, landed CMA and GRAMMY nominations, and toured with everyone from Sheryl Crow and Brooks & Dunn to Brad Paisley and Dierks Bentley. His most recent album, 2019’s Ridin’ High…Again, was a critical hit, praised by Rolling Stone as “searing” and hailed by the Dallas Morning News as “a gloriously raw, sweaty record full of swirling dust and swagger.”

About Miranda Lambert:

Hailed as “the most riveting country star of her generation” by NPR , Miranda Lambert has spent much of her career defying expectations, balancing massive commercial success with a fiercely independent spirit that’s guided her every step of the way. Over the course of eight studio albums, the Texas native has managed to sell seven million records in the US alone, top the Billboard Country Airplay chart six times, and take home three GRAMMY Awards, 14 CMA Awards, and a staggering 35 ACM Awards (including a record-breaking nine consecutive wins for Female Vocalist of the Year). PARAMOUNT+ TO PREMIERE “INDIVISIBLE – HEALING HATE,” A SIX-PART DOCUMENTARY SERIES

PARAMOUNT+ TO PREMIERE “INDIVISIBLE – HEALING HATE,” A SIX-PART DOCUMENTARY SERIES, PREMIERING THURSDAY, JAN. 6

Series Produced by See It Now Studios and XG Productions

Narrated by Mandy Patinkin

Jan. 5, 2022 – Paramount+ will exclusively premiere INDIVISIBLE – HEALING HATE, a gripping six-part documentary narrated by Mandy Patinkin that traces the origins of anti-government extremism and how it built on a deadly series of historical events over decades to culminate in the violent storming of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

The docu-series, a production of See It Now Studios with XG Productions, will be available only on Paramount+ starting tomorrow, Jan. 6.

INDIVISIBLE – HEALING HATE tracks the reasons behind the far right’s rage, including lethal federal assaults on a belligerent tax evader, a white supremacist at Ruby Ridge, and a religious cult in Waco. In the name of revenge, acts of domestic terrorism followed, none more tragic than the bombing in Oklahoma City that claimed the lives of 167 men, women and children. INDIVISIBLE – HEALING HATE features interviews with those who have experienced the fury firsthand: a reformed neo-Nazi, a mother victimized by vicious hate crimes, the son of a notorious white supremacist whose work of fiction became the bible of the far right, and a father whose child died in the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City.

INDIVISIBLE – HEALING HATE is told through the voices from across the ideological spectrum, recounting their stories and their worries about an America they no longer recognize, each of them asking: how did we become so divided, and what can be done to heal the hate?

INDIVISIBLE – HEALING HATE is the first documentary series from See It Now Studios in a co-production with XG PRODUCTIONS. The studio launched in September 2021 as a new content provider producing news, documentary and unscripted programming for Paramount+, CBS, the ViacomCBS family of networks, international broadcasters and other content platforms. Award-winning journalist and former CBS News president Susan Zirinsky is president of See It Now Studios. See It Now Studios’ productions will be distributed globally by the ViacomCBS Global Distribution Group.

CBS NEWS ANNOUNCE MULTIPLATFORM COVERAGE ON THE PATH FORWARD FOR AMERICA

CBS NEWS AND STATIONS ANNOUNCE MULTIPLATFORM COVERAGE ON THE PATH FORWARD FOR AMERICA ONE YEAR AFTER THE JAN. 6TH INSURRECTION

CBS NEWS’ COVERAGE “JANUARY 6: ONE YEAR LATER” WILL FOCUS ON AMERICAN DEMOCRACY AND MENDING FRAYED TRUST IN INSTITUTIONS AND EACH OTHER

“CBS MORNINGS” CO-HOST TONY DOKOUPIL AND “CBS EVENING NEWS” ANCHOR NORAH O’DONNELL WILL BROADCAST FROM THE U.S. CAPITOL IN WASHINGTON, D.C., ON JAN. 6, 2022

CBS STATIONS, CBSN AND ALL CBS NEWS PLATFORMS TO FEATURE ORIGINAL REPORTING, INCLUDING A GRIPPING SIX-PART DOCUMENTARY ON PARAMOUNT+ THAT TRACES THE ORIGIN OF GOVERNMENT EXTREMISM

CBS News and Stations will mark one year since the Jan. 6, 2021 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol by deepening its ongoing coverage of the events from that day with a renewed emphasis on the state of American democracy and a focus on trust: in each other and in the laws and institutions of the nation. For many, Jan. 6 looked like more evidence that trust had eroded – though not all agreed on why. CBS News’ coverage, “January 6: One Year Later,” will offer thoughtful and incisive reporting across multiple broadcasts and platforms exploring those themes of democracy and trust, as well as chronicling the events of Jan. 6 and what has happened in the year that followed.

A new CBS News poll will take an in-depth look at how Americans see the state of their democracy today and whether their views of the Jan. 6 insurrection have changed over the last year. The poll will put a special focus on social trust in the nation today: not just on whether people still see a threat of violence, but also on what Americans say still binds them together. CBS News’ polling will be featured throughout the week across all platforms for “January 6: One Year Later” coverage.

Coverage will begin Sunday, Jan. 2 on CBS SUNDAY MORNING and FACE THE NATION WITH MARGARET BRENNAN, with interviews from members of the House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack. The week’s special coverage will feature a live broadcast of CBS MORNINGS co-hosted by Tony Dokoupil from the U.S. Capitol on Thursday, Jan. 6. The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH NORAH O’DONNELL, the only evening news program to originate from Washington, will feature anchor and managing editor Norah O’Donnell also broadcasting live from the U.S. Capitol that night.

As part of CBS News’ distinct coverage, Paramount+ will exclusively premiere INDIVISIBLE – HEALING HATE, a gripping six-part documentary narrated by Mandy Patinkin, star of Showtime’s HOMELAND, tracing the origins of anti-government extremism that’s been decades in the making and built on a deadly series of historical events that galvanized far-right radicals to take violent action. INDIVISIBLE – HEALING HATE features interviews with those who have experienced rage firsthand: a reformed Neo-Nazi, a mother victimized by vicious hate crimes, the son of a notorious white supremacist, and a father whose child died in the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. INDIVISIBLE – HEALING HATE features people from all ends of the ideological spectrum telling the story of America – how it became so divided and what can be done to heal the hate. The documentary will be available on Paramount+ starting Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022.

CBSN, CBS News’ 24/7 streaming news service, will have comprehensive, day-long coverage leading up to a special edition of CBSN’s daily politics show RED AND BLUE, led by CBSN anchor Elaine Quijano from the CBS Broadcast Center in New York, with CBS News chief Washington correspondent Major Garrett in Washington D.C. The special will air at 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM, ET featuring conversations with CBS News chief political analyst and senior national correspondent John Dickerson, elections and surveys director Anthony Salvanto, and senior investigative correspondent Catherine Herridge. Throughout the day, CBSN’s coverage will also feature interviews with lawmakers including Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), and discussions with CBS News journalists including chief White House correspondent Nancy Cordes, chief justice and national affairs correspondent Jeff Pegues, senior White House and political correspondent Ed O’Keefe, and correspondents Kris Van Cleave and Nikole Killion with the latest on the Jan. 6 commission investigation. CBSN’s coverage will also offer first-person reflections of what happened on Jan. 6 that day and in the year since.

CBS News’ coverage “January 6: One Year Later” will include:

On the Jan. 2 broadcast of FACE THE NATION, moderator Margaret Brennan will interview Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), members of the House Select Committee, and the University of Chicago’s Robert Pape, who is leading landmark research polling about radicalized Americans. The broadcast will also feature a discussion on the new CBS News polling on how Americans see the state of their democracy today.

CBS MORNINGS co-host Tony Dokoupil will anchor the broadcast from the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 6. Dokoupil will sit down with Americans on different sides of the political spectrum to explore mistrust in institutions and what that means for future elections. CBS MORNINGS will look not only at the status of investigations and arrests but also at how the sheer scale of the attack wasn’t known until weeks and months had gone by. Jeff Pegues, who reported live from the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, will report on the online army of digital sleuths coordinating with law enforcement, and the success they have had at bringing rioters to justice. Kris Van Cleave, who also reported from the west lawn of the Capitol during the insurrection, has exclusive access to the U.S. Capitol Police, interviewing key officials and taking viewers inside a department struggling to deal with a surge in criminal death threats against lawmakers over the last year. CBS News chief White House correspondent Nancy Cordes, chief political analyst and senior national correspondent John Dickerson and guests will join the show in Washington, D.C. and New York City to look back on the insurrection and what it means as the nation moves forward.

CBS EVENING NEWS Anchor and Managing Editor Norah O’Donnell will anchor the broadcast from the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, marking one-year since the insurrection. O’Donnell will be joined by John Dickerson to discuss the state of the nation a year later. Throughout the week, the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH NORAH O’DONNELL will feature new reporting and continue CBS News’ Unifying America series, highlighting examples of communities coming together to bridge their divisions and find common ground.

On the Jan. 2 edition of CBS SUNDAY MORNING, Major Garrett will report on how the lies former President Trump and his supporters continue to spread about the 2020 election and the Jan. 6 insurrection have resulted in sweeping changes to voting access and the democratic process across the country – and what that means for the 2022 elections. Rita Braver will profile Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) about the death of his son and his family’s connection to the events of Jan. 6, his management of Trump’s second impeachment, as well as his ongoing work uncovering the facts behind the attack on the U.S. Capitol.

On the Jan. 9 edition of 60 MINUTES, Norah O’Donnell will profile Dave Isay, the founder of StoryCorps, an oral history project he started 18 years ago that has now become the largest single collection of human voices ever recorded. O’Donnell will talk with Isay about “One Small Step,” his new project to get Americans from across the political spectrum to stop demonizing each other and start communicating face-to-face, one conversation at a time. Isay hopes the same idea that drove him to create StoryCorps can help prevent the country from becoming even further divided.

CBS News Radio will provide affiliates with Special Reports and in-depth programming, featuring reporters and correspondents in Washington D.C. Christopher Cruise and Linda Kenyon will cover the events on Capitol Hill; Steven Portnoy will be with President Biden; and Steve Dorsey, who was in the Capitol on Jan. 6, will look back at the events of that day. Jeff Pegues will provide an in-depth look at the Capitol riot in a special edition of AMERICA: CHANGED FOREVER WITH JEFF PEGUES. Allison Keyes will provide coverage in the CBS NEWS WEEKEND ROUNDUP. Both episodes will be released on Friday, Jan. 7.

CBS Stations will build on CBS News’ national coverage by airing interviews with local members of Congress and others with connections to the Jan. 6 insurrection. KCBS-TV and KCAL-TV will produce JANUARY 6: ONE YEAR LATER, a two-hour town hall discussion moderated by reporters Tom Wait and Amy Johnson that will be streamed live on CBSN Los Angeles from 4:30-6:30 PM, PT on Jan. 6. Portions of the town hall will also be broadcast on KCBS and KCAL.

CBS Newspath will provide coverage looking back at Jan. 6 and the year-long fallout from that day to its 200+ affiliates nationwide and to broadcasters around the world. Skyler Henry, Natalie Brand and Laura Podesta will provide coverage.
