HBO Max Renews Adult-Animated Series HARLEY QUINN For A Fourth Season

The critically-acclaimed Max Original adult-animated series HARLEY QUINN has been renewed for a fourth season, ahead of the season three finale on September 15.

Sarah Peters (“Workaholics,” “Master of None,” “Nathan For You”), who has written on the series since season one and currently serves as consulting producer, will be elevated to executive producer and serve as showrunner for season four.

Season 3 logline: In season three of the biting and uproarious adult animated comedy series, Harley Quinn (Kaley Cuoco) and Poison Ivy (Lake Bell) wrap up their “Eat. Bang! Kill. Tour” and return to Gotham as the new power couple of DC villainy. Along with their ragtag crew – King Shark (Ron Funches), Clayface (Alan Tudyk), Frank the Plant (JB Smoove) – “Harlivy” strives to become the best version of themselves while also working towards Ivy’s long desired plan of transforming Gotham into an Eden paradise.

Season 3 cast: Kaley Cuoco (Harley Quinn), Lake Bell (Poison Ivy), Ron Funches (King Shark), JB Smoove (Frank the Plant), Alan Tudyk (Clayface/The Joker), Matt Oberg (Kite Man), Christopher Meloni (Commissioner Gordon), Andy Daly (Two-Face), Diedrich Bader (Batman/Bruce Wayne), James Adomian (Bane), Sanaa Lathan (Selina Kyle), Briana Cuoco (Batgirl/Barbara Gordon), Harvey Guillen (Nightwing).

HBO Max Now Offers Access To Select Free Episodes, In-App On Your Favorite Device

Beginning today, HBO Max will offer potential new subscribers in the U.S. the opportunity to watch select episodes of some of the platform’s most popular programming in-app before they sign up. The in-app offering is an extension of the long-standing sampling opportunities available via HBOMax.com and more recently, through Snapchat’s HBO Max Snap Mini, which allows Snapchatters to watch free episodes of HBO Max programming virtually alongside their friends within the Snapchat app.

With the launch of this new feature, viewers will now have the chance to take a sneak peek at the platform’s catalog of iconic and best-in-class programming prior to committing to a subscription, with the flexibility to watch a hand-picked selection of episodes in-app on their favorite supported device. The free experience will initially include 13 episodes of HBO and Max Originals, with new titles being rotated in and out of the collection periodically. The free offering will roll out today across all current HBO Max device partners.

NOTE: in our August 21st Roundup post, we mentioned that Warner Archive is planning a Blu-ray Disc release for “Harley Quinn – The Complete 1st And 2nd Seasons,” with no date announced at that time. Christy (Faris) is still sober and has her life mostly back on track, though she’s continually tested by her mother, Bonnie (Janney). Together, the two work to overcome their mistakes and build a better future. Now, Christy is well on her way to becoming a lawyer, while Bonnie is in a healthy romantic relationship and has just married Adam (William Fichtner). Through it all, they rely on their support system from AA, including the wise Marjorie (Mimi Kennedy); the wealthy and sometimes misguided Jill (Jaime Pressly); the overly emotional Wendy (Beth Hall); and Bonnie’s foster sister, Tammy (Kristen Johnston), who was recently released from prison. NOTE: sharp-eyed fans of this show will notice that the attached cover art for Season 7 of Mom is the identical key artwork from the DVD cover of the Mom: Season 4 set. The only difference is that the S4 set had a green coloring, while the S7 set will have a purple coloring. This artwork, with the purple coloring, was used for the seventh season’s promotional campaign during its broadcast on CBS. At this time, Warner apparently intends to continue using this same artwork for the S7 DVD set. So do not be confused when you order your S7 set; this is NOT the same box set as the S4 set from 2017.

NOTE: On 6/2/2020, Warner released “Harley Quinn – The Complete 1st Season” on DVD format into stores. The 2nd season hasn’t been released on physical disc so far, nor even announced. But in a now-deleted Instagram post, the Warner Archive showed the attached cover art for both seasons on Blu-ray format. They stated in a separate comment that “it’ll be coming, but not next month [September] – stay tuned!”
