NEW YORK – September 21, 2022 – Food Network ordered a season three pick-up of its hit primetime series Alex vs America, it was announced today by Jane Latman, President, Home & Food Content and Streaming, Warner Bros. Discovery. Production is set to begin this month, with new episodes of Alex vs America slated to premiere in 2023. Season two of Alex vs America has reached more than 9.1M P2+ viewers, +44% vs. last season, with the series averaging .6 P18+ and .9 W18+ L3 ratings, an increase of +17% vs. the prior season for both demos. All episodes of Alex vs America are available to stream on discovery+.

“It’s been a dream come true to get back into the culinary arena with Food Network and the immeasurably talented Eric Adjepong to bring viewers a new season of Alex vs America,” said Alex Guarnaschelli. “I am so excited to take audiences along on this journey as I give my blood, sweat and tears – literally! – into every culinary battle, as a new group of chefs showcase their skills to try and defeat me ”

In each one-hour episode, acclaimed chef and Food Network staple Alex Guarnaschelli competes against three culinary superstars at the same time over two rounds. The competitors hail from across the United States but share the same mastery of a culinary genre, one that they have spent endless hours in their own kitchens perfecting and which will be tested in an effort to take down Alex. At the start of each battle, host Eric Adjepong presents Alex and the competitors with the culinary theme for their dishes. In the first round, the competitors can work together to select ingredients and even decide how much time goes on the clock. Each dish undergoes a blind tasting from two judges well-versed in the episodic theme, with only the top three chefs advancing to the next round and the least successful challenger sent home – even if it is Alex. The chef who wins the first round earns the right to select all the variables for the second culinary challenge, with the remaining chefs’ final plates determining who comes out on top, winning bragging rights and a cash prize.

At the start of each episode, one competitor enters Bobby’s secret kitchen armed with their expertise and drive to take on the culinary titans selected by Bobby – Tiffany Derry, Michael Voltaggio and Brooke Williamson – in three head-to-head rounds. In the first two rounds, Bobby picks the main ingredients that the chefs must emphasize in their dishes, as the competitor selects which titan to face off with. The last round features the competitor picking the ingredients to incorporate, while going against the last remaining titan. All the while, one discerning guest judge blind taste tests the dishes at the end of every round. If the competitor can out-cook the titans and earn more points with their cumulative score, they take home bragging rights over the titans, earning the cash prize.

The place is cozy but hasn’t been updated in decades, so the two join up to renovate the place before a couple of wealthy potential buyers are due to see the house on Christmas Eve. Melissa would love to spend a portion of her budget on a few custom projects created by a unique couple, Henry and Sarah Wright (Ben and Erin Napier), who are gifted at small town home restoration and appreciate the legacy of a family home. Henry is a master woodworker and custom furniture builder, and Sarah is an artist with an expertise in color and transformative design choices. As Christmas approaches and the tensions grow, so does a romantic relationship between Melissa and David, but the fact that Melissa intends to return to Atlanta and start her own business with the cash she will get from the property sale, while David has no intention of leaving his home town, could be a deal breaker for their new relationship.
