HBO Renews Drama Series EUPHORIA For A Third Season

HBO announced today that the Emmy®-winning drama series EUPHORIA has been renewed for a third season.

Created, written, directed and executive produced by Sam Levinson, starring Emmy® winner Zendaya, and produced in partnership with A24, the eight-episode second season of EUPHORIA debuted on January 9 with episodes airing weekly on HBO and HBO Max. The season two finale airs on February 27.

Season 2 executive producers: Sam Levinson, Kevin Turen, Ravi Nandan, Drake, Adel “Future” Nur, Zendaya, Will Greenfield, Ashley Levinson, Ron Leshem, Daphna Levin, and Hadas Mozes Lichtenstein. Based on the Israeli series of the same name, which was created by Ron Leshem and Daphna Levin, from HOT.

New HBO Max Brand Spot Features First Looks At Upcoming Programming “And Just Like That…,” “Peacemaker,” New Seasons Of “Euphoria,” “Insecure,” And More

During tonight’s Emmy® broadcast, HBO Max released a new brand spot featuring never-before-seen footage from upcoming Max Originals “And Just Like That…,” “Peacemaker,” and “The Sex Lives of College Girls,” and new seasons of HBO Originals “Euphoria,” “Insecure,” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” all premiering this fall and in early 2022.

The spot also includes scenes from Warner Bros. films debuting in theaters and on HBO Max: the highly anticipated “Dune” in October; “King Richard,” with Will Smith as the father determined to write his daughters, Venus and Serena, into history, in November; and “The Matrix Resurrections,” the latest in the groundbreaking franchise, arriving in December. The films will be available for 31 days from their theatrical release on HBO Max in the U.S. at no additional cost to subscribers, available only on the ad-free plan.

The complete list of titles featured in the spot:

HBO Originals including the third season of HBO’s Emmy®-winning drama series “Succession” (October 17); season eleven of HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm” (October); the fifth and final season of the Emmy®-winning HBO comedy series “Insecure” (October 24); and the second season of the Emmy® winning drama series “Euphoria.”

New Max Originals including “And Just Like That…,” the new chapter of the groundbreaking HBO series “Sex and the City”; “The Sex Lives of College Girls,” a comedy series from Mindy Kaling following four roommates at the prestigious Essex College in Vermont; and “Gossip Girl,” with the final six episodes of the first season—all debuting this fall.

The spot also features a first look at footage from the upcoming Max Original, “Peacemaker,” the new DC series starring John Cena, from “The Suicide Squad” writer/director James Gunn and producer Peter Safran that will debut in January 2022.

Beginning today, HBO Max will offer potential new subscribers in the U.S. the opportunity to watch select episodes of some of the platform’s most popular programming in-app before they sign up. The in-app offering is an extension of the long-standing sampling opportunities available via HBOMax.com and more recently, through Snapchat’s HBO Max Snap Mini, which allows Snapchatters to watch free episodes of HBO Max programming virtually alongside their friends within the Snapchat app.

With the launch of this new feature, viewers will now have the chance to take a sneak peek at the platform’s catalog of iconic and best-in-class programming prior to committing to a subscription, with the flexibility to watch a hand-picked selection of episodes in-app on their favorite supported device. The free experience will initially include 13 episodes of HBO and Max Originals, with new titles being rotated in and out of the collection periodically. The free offering will roll out today across all current HBO Max device partners.

This latest product feature also allows users to browse the entire HBO Max catalog of programming across the service in-app, and offers straightforward distinctions around which episodes can be viewed without a subscription and which ones are available after signing up.

With the recent launch of the advertising-supported subscription tier, HBO Max now provides consumers the flexibility to choose between the ad-free subscription option at $14.99 per month, or one with ads for $9.99 per month. For even further savings, HBO Max is now offering subscribers the option to pre-pay and save more than 15% by signing up for the ad-supported tier of HBO Max for $99.99/year or without ads for $149.99/year.

The second special episode of the Emmy®-winning HBO drama series EUPHORIA will receive an early premiere on HBO Max beginning FRIDAY, JANUARY 22 at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT in advance of its HBO premiere on SUNDAY, JANUARY 24 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.

The second special episode, directed by EUPHORIA creator Sam Levinson and titled “F*ck Anyone Who’s Not A Sea Blob,” follows Jules (played by Hunter Schafer) over the Christmas holiday as she reflects on the year. Schafer serves as co-executive producer on the second special episode, which she co-wrote with Levinson. Both special episodes were produced under COVID-19 guidelines.

The first special episode, “Trouble Don’t Last Always,” debuted December 6 on HBO and had an early streaming premiere on HBO Max starting December 4. It was the #1 most social program on premium cable throughout that weekend (Nielsen Social).

HBO Max is surprising fans with an early late-night premiere of a new special episode of HBO’s EUPHORIA on THURSDAY, DECEMBER 3 (12:00 a.m. ET/9:00 p.m. PT). The first of two special episodes of the Emmy®-winning HBO drama series will debut on HBO on SUNDAY, DECEMBER 6 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT, as previously announced. In the aftermath of being left by Jules at the train station and relapsing, the first special episode follows Rue (played by Emmy®-winner Zendaya) as she celebrates Christmas. Jules (played by Hunter Schafer) will also appear in the episode. Written and directed by series creator Sam Levinson, the first episode, titled “Trouble Don’t Last Always,” also stars Colman Domingo, who appeared in season one.
