Disney Branded Television’s ‘The Owl House’ Kicks Off Its Final Three Specials

Disney Branded Television’s ‘The Owl House’ Kicks Off Its Final Three Specials Beginning Saturday, Oct. 15, on Disney Channel and Disney Xd

Disney Branded Television’s Peabody Award-winning “The Owl House” debuts the first of its final specials SATURDAY, OCT. 15 (9:00 p.m. EDT/PDT), with a simulcast on Disney Channel and Disney XD. Created and executive produced by Dana Terrace (Disney’s “DuckTales”), the 44-minute specials follow Luz’s journey to save the Boiling Isles from the evil Emperor Belos and the unpredictable Collector. The following two installments will premiere in 2023.

Picking up immediately following the events of the season two finale, the first special, “Thanks to Them,” finds Luz and her friends stuck in the human realm and willing to go to daring lengths to return to the Boiling Isles.

“The Owl House” follows Luz, a self-assured teenage girl who stumbles upon a portal to a magical realm where she befriends a rebellious witch, Eda, and a tiny warrior, King. Despite not having magical abilities, Luz pursues her dream of becoming a witch by serving as Eda’s apprentice at the Owl House and ultimately finds a new family in an unlikely setting. In 2021, the series won the prestigious Peabody Award in the Children & Youth category for “building a wildly inventive other world that makes room for everyone.”

Extensions for “The Owl House” include apparel and phone accessories that are available at Amazon.com/DisneyChannel, as well as two children’s books inspired by the series from Disney Publishing Group: “The Owl House: Witches Before Wizards” and “The Owl House: Hex-cellent Tales from The Boiling Isles,” both available at www.DisneyBooks.com.

The voice cast includes Sarah-Nicole Robles (“Star Darlings”) as Luz, Wendie Malick (“Just Shoot Me”) as Eda, Alex Hirsch (Disney’s “Gravity Falls”) as King and Hooty, Matthew Rhys (“The Americans”) as Emperor Belos, Issac Ryan Brown (Disney Channel’s “Raven’s Home”) as Gus, Tati Gabrielle (“Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”) as Willow, Mae Whitman (“Good Girls”) as Amity, Cissy Jones (“Little Big Awesome”) as Lilith, and Zeno Robinson (“Big City Greens”) as Hunter.

In addition to Terrace, Wade Wisinski (“Be Cool, Scooby-Doo!”) is producer, and Andy Garner-Flexner (“Adventure Time”) is art director. “The Owl House” is a production of Disney Television Animation and carries a TV-Y7 FV parental guideline.

Celebrate Animation at the 94th Oscars With ‘Life Is Shorts: Oscars 2022′

Celebrate Animation at the 94th Oscars With ‘Life Is Shorts: Oscars 2022,’ Hosted by Tamron Hall and Featuring Disney and Pixar’s Acclaimed Shorts, on Friday, March 25, on Disney Channel and Disney XD
LIFE IS SHORTS: OSCARS 2022

“Life is Shorts: Oscar 2022,” celebrating the magic of animation and featuring three Academy Award®-winning or -nominated shorts from Disney and Pixar — “Bao,” “Burrow” and “Lou” — will debut Friday, March 25, on Disney Channel and Disney XD in support of the 94th Oscars®. Hosted by daytime talk show host Tamron Hall, the special will kick off March 25 (8:30 p.m. EDT/PDT on Disney Channel and 9:00 p.m. EDT/PDT on Disney XD) and air throughout the weekend.

Descriptions for the short films included in the special are the following:

“Burrow” (2020 Academy Award Nominee)
In “Burrow,” a young rabbit embarks on a journey to dig the burrow of her dreams, despite not having a clue what she’s doing. Rather than reveal to her neighbors her imperfections, she digs herself deeper and deeper into trouble. After hitting (bed)rock bottom, she learns there is no shame in asking for help.

“Bao” (2018 Academy Award Winner)
In “Bao,” an aging Chinese mom suffering from empty nest syndrome gets another chance at motherhood when one of her dumplings springs to life as a lively, giggly dumpling boy. Mom excitedly welcomes this new bundle of joy into her life, but Dumpling starts growing up fast, and Mom must come to the bittersweet revelation that nothing stays cute and small forever.

“Lou” (2017 Academy Award Nominee)
When a toy stealing bully ruins recess for a playground full of kids, only one thing stands in his way: the “Lost and Found” box. After a madcap chase through the schoolyard, the items in the box unite to teach the bully that giving back can be even more fulfilling than taking away.

The special presentation is produced by Localish for Disney Channel and Disney XD as part of the lead-up to the Sunday, March 27, 2022, live broadcast of the 94th Oscars on ABC.

Executive produced by Matt Youngberg and co-executive produced by Francisco Angones, the Emmy® Award-nominated “DuckTales” team wrapped production after 75 episodes and more than 15 shorts. In the U.S., the series is the #1 ratings driver on Disney XD and has reached over 234 million views on social media and YouTube since its launch in 2017.

In a joint statement, Youngberg and Angones said, “It has been an absolute honor to adventure along with the Duck Family for three seasons of derring-do bad and good luck tales. Ever since Carl Barks took a silly squawking duck from a funny animal cartoon and sent him looking for pirate gold, these characters have been part of a constantly evolving legacy of invention and reinvention. We set out to honor all those things that we’ve loved about ‘DuckTales’ since we were kids and introduce new parts of that legacy for families around the globe. Along the way, our stellar crew, unbelievable cast and endlessly supportive fans have become a bit of a family ourselves. And it has been a great joy to solve mysteries and rewrite history alongside them.”

The “DuckTales” series finale special will encore non-stop for 24 hours following its premiere. Leading up to the finale, Disney XD will debut new episodes every Monday beginning FEB. 22 (7:00 p.m. EST/PST) and will present a week-long “DuckTales” marathon of every aired episode beginning MONDAY, MARCH 8 (7:30 p.m. EST/PST). In addition, three new “Chibi Tiny Tales” shorts, featuring Chibi-style versions of favorite “DuckTales” characters, will roll out beginning FRIDAY, FEB. 26, on Disney XD, DisneyNOW and Disney Channel YouTube.

Based on the Emmy Award-winning series treasured by a generation of viewers, “DuckTales” chronicles the high-flying adventures of Duckburg’s most famous trillionaire Scrooge McDuck; his mischief-making triplet grandnephews, Huey, Dewey and Louie; temperamental nephew, Donald Duck (voiced by Disney Legend Tony Anselmo); and the trusted McDuck Manor team: big-hearted, fearless chauffer/pilot Launchpad McQuack, no-nonsense housekeeper Mrs. Beakley and Mrs. Beakley’s granddaughter, Webby Vanderquack, resident adventurer and the triplet’s fierce friend.

In the finale titled “The Last Adventure!,” the future of adventuring hangs in the balance as the Duck family uncovers earth-shattering secrets in a final standoff with the Fiendish Organization for World Larceny (F.O.W.L.). Returning guest voices include Lin-Manuel Miranda, Giancarlo Esposito, Julie Bowen, Jaime Camil, Jameela Jamil, Catherine Tate, Stephanie Beatriz, Paul F.
