Celebrate Animation at the 94th Oscars With ‘Life Is Shorts: Oscars 2022,’ Hosted by Tamron Hall and Featuring Disney and Pixar’s Acclaimed Shorts, on Friday, March 25, on Disney Channel and Disney XD
LIFE IS SHORTS: OSCARS 2022

“Life is Shorts: Oscar 2022,” celebrating the magic of animation and featuring three Academy Award®-winning or -nominated shorts from Disney and Pixar — “Bao,” “Burrow” and “Lou” — will debut Friday, March 25, on Disney Channel and Disney XD in support of the 94th Oscars®. Hosted by daytime talk show host Tamron Hall, the special will kick off March 25 (8:30 p.m. EDT/PDT on Disney Channel and 9:00 p.m. EDT/PDT on Disney XD) and air throughout the weekend.

Descriptions for the short films included in the special are the following:

“Burrow” (2020 Academy Award Nominee)
In “Burrow,” a young rabbit embarks on a journey to dig the burrow of her dreams, despite not having a clue what she’s doing. Rather than reveal to her neighbors her imperfections, she digs herself deeper and deeper into trouble. After hitting (bed)rock bottom, she learns there is no shame in asking for help.

“Bao” (2018 Academy Award Winner)
In “Bao,” an aging Chinese mom suffering from empty nest syndrome gets another chance at motherhood when one of her dumplings springs to life as a lively, giggly dumpling boy. Mom excitedly welcomes this new bundle of joy into her life, but Dumpling starts growing up fast, and Mom must come to the bittersweet revelation that nothing stays cute and small forever.

“Lou” (2017 Academy Award Nominee)
When a toy stealing bully ruins recess for a playground full of kids, only one thing stands in his way: the “Lost and Found” box. After a madcap chase through the schoolyard, the items in the box unite to teach the bully that giving back can be even more fulfilling than taking away.

The special presentation is produced by Localish for Disney Channel and Disney XD as part of the lead-up to the Sunday, March 27, 2022, live broadcast of the 94th Oscars on ABC.

CULMINATES IN AN EPIC 90-MINUTE SERIES FINALE,

— Lin-Manuel Miranda, Giancarlo Esposito, Julie Bowen,

— New Episodes Debut Every Monday Beginning

Feb. 22 Leading Up to the Finale —

Disney’s critically acclaimed “DuckTales” will solve some mysteries and rewrite history with an epic 90-minute series finale special MONDAY, MARCH 15, (7:00 p.m. EDT/PDT), on Disney XD and ungated in DisneyNOW. Executive produced by Matt Youngberg and co-executive produced by Francisco Angones, the Emmy® Award-nominated “DuckTales” team wrapped production after 75 episodes and more than 15 shorts. The series continues to be available on Disney Channels and Disney+ around the world. In the U.S., the series is the #1 ratings driver on Disney XD and has reached over 234 million views on social media and YouTube since its launch in 2017.

Culminating in a memorable, dramatic reading of the iconic “DuckTales” main title song, the cast met one final time via Zoom during the recent holiday season—David Tennant (“Scrooge McDuck”), Danny Pudi (“Huey”), Ben Schwartz (“Dewey”), Bobby Moynihan (“Louie”), Kate Micucci (“Webby Vanderquack”), Beck Bennett (“Launchpad McQuack”), Toks Olagundoye (“Mrs. Beakley”) and Paget Brewster (“Della Duck”). In a joint statement, Youngberg and Angones said, “It has been an absolute honor to adventure along with the Duck Family for three seasons of derring-do bad and good luck tales. Ever since Carl Barks took a silly squawking duck from a funny animal cartoon and sent him looking for pirate gold, these characters have been part of a constantly evolving legacy of invention and reinvention. We set out to honor all those things that we’ve loved about ‘DuckTales’ since we were kids and introduce new parts of that legacy for families around the globe. Along the way, our stellar crew, unbelievable cast and endlessly supportive fans have become a bit of a family ourselves. And it has been a great joy to solve mysteries and rewrite history alongside them.”

The “DuckTales” series finale special will encore non-stop for 24 hours following its premiere. Leading up to the finale, Disney XD will debut new episodes every Monday beginning FEB. 22 (7:00 p.m. EST/PST) and will present a week-long “DuckTales” marathon of every aired episode beginning MONDAY, MARCH 8 (7:30 p.m. EST/PST). In addition, three new “Chibi Tiny Tales” shorts, featuring Chibi-style versions of favorite “DuckTales” characters, will roll out beginning FRIDAY, FEB. 26, on Disney XD, DisneyNOW and Disney Channel YouTube.

Based on the Emmy Award-winning series treasured by a generation of viewers, “DuckTales” chronicles the high-flying adventures of Duckburg’s most famous trillionaire Scrooge McDuck; his mischief-making triplet grandnephews, Huey, Dewey and Louie; temperamental nephew, Donald Duck (voiced by Disney Legend Tony Anselmo); and the trusted McDuck Manor team: big-hearted, fearless chauffer/pilot Launchpad McQuack, no-nonsense housekeeper Mrs. Beakley and Mrs. Beakley’s granddaughter, Webby Vanderquack, resident adventurer and the triplet’s fierce friend.

In the finale titled “The Last Adventure!,” the future of adventuring hangs in the balance as the Duck family uncovers earth-shattering secrets in a final standoff with the Fiendish Organization for World Larceny (F.O.W.L.). Returning guest voices include Lin-Manuel Miranda, Giancarlo Esposito, Julie Bowen, Jaime Camil, Jameela Jamil, Catherine Tate, Stephanie Beatriz, Paul F. Tompkins, Jim Rash, Margo Martindale, Jason Mantzoukas, John Hodgman, Retta, Kimiko Glenn, Libe Barer, Jaleel White and Amy Sedaris. Noël Wells and Riki Lindhome guest star as sisters, June and May, respectively.

“DuckTales” is a production of Disney Television Animation and carries a TV-Y7 parental guideline.

“Big Hero 6 The Series”

The Emmy® Award-nominated “Big Hero 6 The Series” picks up immediately following the events of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Academy Award®-winning film “Big Hero 6,” continuing the adventures and friendship of 14-year-old tech genius Hiro and his compassionate, cutting-edge robot Baymax. Along with their friends—Wasabi, a sensible control freak whose specialty is physics; Honey Lemon, an optimistic and artistic scientist with a love for chemistry; Go Go, a no-nonsense, fearless speed genius who specializes in mechanical engineering; and Fred, a creative, science enthusiast—they form the legendary superhero team Big Hero 6, taking on new challenges and overcoming opposition in a world of evolving technology.

Set in the fictional city of San Fransokyo, a high-tech fusion of San Francisco and Tokyo, and featuring 2D animation that draws inspiration from various Japanese art styles, each episode illuminates the unbreakable family bond among the Big Hero 6 team, a group of diverse individuals, each with distinct personalities. The series follows the friends as they embark on high-tech adventures and protect their city from an array of scientifically enhanced villains. The series also introduced new characters including Professor Granville, San Fransokyo Institute of Technology’s strict new dean; Karmi, a jealous young classmate who dislikes Hiro but is a fangirl of the Big Hero 6 team; Obake, a brilliant and villainous scientist determined to sabotage Hiro; Globby, an incompetent thief who attains new powers; and Baron Von Steamer, the city’s oldest supervillain.

Reprising their roles from the feature film are Maya Rudolph as Aunt Cass, Ryan Potter as Hiro, Scott Adsit as Baymax, Jamie Chung as Go Go, Alan Tudyk as Alistair Krei, Genesis Rodriguez as Honey Lemon and David Shaughnessy as Heathcliff.
