“King Tut: A Century of Secrets” Debuts – 8pm ET/PT on Discovery Channel
King Tut…The Most famous pharaoh in history.. Yet he remains as elusive today as he was on the day of his discovery, 100 years ago. Now, in celebration of the Boy King’s centennial, his treasures are being transferred from the Cairo Museum to a brand new museum in the shadow of the pyramids. Egyptologist Zahi Hawass has gained special permission to examine them before they are locked away. It’s the chance he’s waited decades for – a golden opportunity to see things other experts have missed. The race is on to re-examine the crucial items that can answer some of Tut’s great riddles. Why did he turn against the religion of his father? Was he a disabled puppet of his advisors or a mighty king in his own right? And most mysteriously, how did King Tut die? To answer these questions, Zahi isn’t just going to re-examine Tut’s treasures. He and his team will cast their net across the whole of Egypt: visiting spectacular temples…… lost palaces……and long forgotten tombs that hold unexpected secrets about the Golden Boy King. Together, they will separate myth from reality to tell the real story of the boy who became…Tutankhamun.
