NOVA “Ice Age Footprints”
Premieres: Wednesday, May 25, 9:00 p.m. ET
Thousands of prehistoric footprints left by Ice Age humans and animals stretch for miles across the blinding white surfaces of New Mexico’s White Sands National Park. The phenomenal collection of prints preserves a unique series of snapshots of life and behavior, capturing moments when people crossed paths with extinct beasts, including enormous ground sloths and mammoths. Frozen in time, these intimate traces of human and animal activity represent evidence unknowable from any other type of archeological find. Not only do the tracks reveal remarkable details about life in the Ice Age, but radiocarbon dating of the footprints provides important new evidence about the peopling of the Americas.

ARLINGTON, VA; MARCH 10, 2022 — PBS will debut a new Sunday primetime programming lineup March 20, 8:00-11:00 p.m. ET (check local listings), with a binge-worthy night of drama premieres. The spring primetime block begins with Season 11 of the award-winning CALL THE MIDWIFE, followed by the highly anticipated Season 2 return of MASTERPIECE fan favorite SANDITON and the debut of BEFORE WE DIE, a new crime thriller about a detective whose moral boundaries are tested. All three programs will also be available to stream concurrent with broadcast on PBS.org and the PBS Video app.

But when Hannah discovers Issy’s identity, she quickly realizes there is far more at stake than bringing the murderers to justice.

ARLINGTON, VA (March 4, 2021) – PBS announced today that the critically-acclaimed British drama CALL THE MIDWIFE will return for its 11th season Sundays, March 20-May 8, 2022, at 8:00 p.m. ET on PBS stations (check local listings). Commissioned in partnership with the BBC, the eight-part series, which follows the nurses, midwives and nuns from Nonnatus House in London’s East End, will air as part of PBS’s Sunday night drama lineup and will stream nationally on PBS.org and the PBS Video App.

Following an eventful holiday special, the series picks up in the spring of 1967, where celebrations are underway for a colorful Easter bonnet parade outside Nonnatus House. Sister Monica Joan and Reggie are excited about the Eurovision song contest, while Cyril and Lucille settle into blissful married life. Nancy, having just passed her midwifery examinations, is about to don her red cardigan for the first time, and Sister Frances examines a newly married woman who presents some troubling symptoms. Derek and Audrey Fleming return to Poplar with good news. Builders demolishing a nearby tenement block make a shocking discovery that has a heartbreaking effect on the team.

CALL THE MIDWIFE will return to PBS with its 2021 Holiday Special on Saturday, December 25 at 9PM (check local listings). In this special episode, Christmas 1966 promises to be memorable one. The Nonnatus House team are faced with their busiest Christmas Day ever as the Maternity Home is filled with expectant moms and challenging cases. Luckily Mother Mildred is on hand to support the team.

NOVA “THE CANNABIS QUESTION”

CALL THE MIDWIFE Season 10

PBS Celebrates the Return of the Award-Winning Drama in its Tenth Year

ARLINGTON, VA (August 9, 2021) – PBS announced today that the beloved British drama CALL THE MIDWIFE will return for its 10th season Sundays, October 3- November 14, 2021 at 8:00 p.m. ET on PBS stations (check local listings). The seven-part series, commissioned in partnership with the BBC, which follows the nurses, midwives and nuns from Nonnatus House in London’s East End, will air as part of PBS’s Sunday night drama lineup and will stream nationally on PBS.org and the PBS Video App. Following the season finale, and in honor of the 10th season, a celebratory compilation episode, “Special Delivery,” will air on November 21.

Season 10 opens in the year 1966 at a trying time for the midwives. But there is excitement too as the women’s rights movement intensifies. With Trixie’s (Helen George) help, Sister Julienne (Jenny Agutter) is determined to steer Nonnatus House out of its financial quandary. Dr. Turner (Stephen McGann) deals with an array of difficult cases, including a former soldier involved in nuclear test explosions.

Meanwhile, Sister Monica Joan (Judy Parfitt) experiences a crisis of faith, and Sister Frances (Ella Bruccoleri) realizes she needs to be a little less spiritual to really connect with the local women. Nonnatus House also welcomes four new pupil midwives, including Nancy Corrigan (Megan Cusack), who makes quite an impression. There are some interesting challenges ahead, as well as great celebrations when England wins the World Cup.

To celebrate the series’ 10th anniversary, Weldon Owen will release A Labour of Love: Ten Years of Call The Midwife on November 2, 2021. Written by Stephen McGann, who plays Dr. Patrick Turner on the series, the book explores the moving and personal story of CALL THE MIDWIFE as told by the cast and crew.

Two more series of multiple award-winning Call The Midwife have been commissioned for BBC One.

With series ten due to launch on Sunday 18 April at 8pm and series 11 about to commence filming, Call The Midwife will now be on air until 2024. Series 12 and 13, commissioned by Piers Wenger, Director of BBC Drama and Charlotte Moore, Chief Content Officer, will consist of two 8×60′ series and two Christmas specials.

Made by Neal Street Productions for BBC One and BBC iPlayer, Call The Midwife is celebrating its tenth anniversary series this year and continues to be one of Britain’s most popular and most watched drama series since it launched in 2012. The series attracts an enormous audience for BBC One, with its Christmas Specials achieving over 9 million viewers. Series nine was also the fourth biggest drama across all channels in 2020. The drama has won multiple awards across the decade for its depiction of challenging medical stories which are tackled by the nuns and midwives of Poplar.
