“V/H/S/94 set a new bar for what is already a fantastic film franchise, featuring some of the best horror anthology segments in recent memory by an incredible lineup of filmmakers,” said Craig Engler, GM of Shudder. “We knew immediately that we wanted to continue the series, and what the producers have come up with in V/H/S/99 will be the biggest and best film yet in the series, and we can’t wait for Shudder members to see it.”

“The last year of the 90’s was a perfect playground for us” said producer Josh Goldbloom. “DVD’s surpassed VHS, Blair Witch took the world by storm, and Y2K fears created a sense of apocalyptic dread. Add to that 6 of the most creative genre filmmakers in the world, and we’re confident this is the biggest, baddest, and most wildly savage V/H/S yet!”

“Fans of our franchise are going to love V/H/S/99,” said executive producer Michael Schreiber. “Each new film in the series is the chance to showcase a different ensemble of talented and diverse filmmakers, and I’m extremely proud of the work that V/H/S99’s filmmakers have put in to bring their terrifying visions to life.”

The franchise’s last Shudder and Studio71 collaboration, V/H/S/94, debuted to rave reviews from film critics, with The New York Times calling the film “a grisly, gory gem,” and a 90% certified fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. V/H/S/94 was the biggest movie premiere in Shudder history, setting a record for the most viewers during its opening weekend, and it continues to be a top performing title nearly a year later.

The Standard Edition available everywhere books are sold will feature a brand new cover by Gary Pullin, while the Exclusive Edition available only through AMCNP.com will feature a cover by Sanjulian.

“This jam-packed, behind-the-scenes Creepshow book is perfect for fans of the show, as well as anyone passionate about horror entertainment and aspiring filmmakers and FX artists,” said Mike Zagari, Head of AMC Networks Publishing. “The collaboration between Greg Nicotero, the Creepshow series cast & crew which are overseen by Monster Agency Productions, Stephen King, Kirk Hammett, the George A. Romero Foundation, and many other talented individuals exceeded all expectations!”

Creepshow has been heralded as “an irresistibly macabre package,” (Slant Magazine) and “an undeniable love letter to all generations of horror fans,” (CBR), and over three seasons, has been one of the most watched programs on Shudder. While the book focuses on the television show, it also contains imagery and anecdotes from the original Creepshow film, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this November.

SHUDDER SLATES SUNDANCE MIDNIGHT OFFICIAL SELECTION SPEAK NO EVIL

2022 FESTIVAL HIT TO RECEIVE U.S. THEATRICAL RUN VIA IFC MIDNIGHT – OPENING IN NY & LA ON SEPTEMBER 9 | Film to Play at New York’s IFC Center and Los Angeles’ Laemmle Monica Film Center | Streams September 15, Only on Shudder
NEW YORK – July 25, 2022 – Shudder, AMC Networks’ premium streaming service for horror, thrillers and the supernatural, and IFC Midnight announced today a theatrical run for the highly-anticipated psychological horror Speak No Evil beginning Friday, September 9 ahead of the film’s streaming debut on Thursday, September 15. A national rollout will follow beginning Friday, September 16. An official selection of Sundance Midnight 2022, Speak No Evil is written and directed by Christian Tafdrup (A Horrible Woman) and has also played the Goteborg Film Festival 2022, Seattle International Film Festival 2022, Chicago Critics Film Festival, the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival where Tafdrup won Best Director, and the Fantasia International Film Festival.

In Speak No Evil, on a vacation in Tuscany, two families – one Danish, one Dutch – meet and become fast friends. Months later, the free-spirited Dutch family extends an invitation to the more conservative Danish one for a holiday weekend getaway at their countryside home. However, it doesn’t take long before things gradually get out of hand as the joy of reunion is replaced with misunderstandings. The Dutch hospitality quickly turns unnerving for the Danes, and they find themselves increasingly caught in a web of their own politeness in the face of eccentric…or is it sinister…behavior.

Written by Tafdrup and his brother, Mads Tafdrup (A Horrible Woman), Speak No Evil stars Morten Burian and Sidsel Siem Koch as the Danish couple, Bjørn and Louise, as well as Fedja van Huêt and Karina Smulders as the Dutch couple, Patrick and Karin.

Speak No Evil is Tafdrup’s first genre film and was presented as part of Works-in-Progress at the Gothenburg (Göteborg) Nordic Film Market 2021. The acquisition deal was negotiated by Emily Gotto, VP, Global Acquisitions & Co-Productions on behalf of Shudder and Susan Wendt, Managing Director of TrustNordisk (Another Round) on behalf of the filmmakers ahead of Sundance.

The film is produced by Profile Pictures’ producer Jacob Jarek (Holy Spider, Rams), in co-production with Oak Motion Pictures in the Netherlands, with support from The Danish Film Institute, FilmFyn, The Netherlands Film Production Incentive, with co-financing from DR and Nordisk Film Distribution. Local distribution will be facilitated through Nordisk Film Distribution.

***MEDIA ALERT***

Shudder, AMC Networks’ premium streamer for horror, thriller and the supernatural, presented a panel for its Original Documentary Series Queer for Fear at San Diego Comic-Con earlier today. Series news and a link to an extended clip, which debuted during the panel, are below:

· Queer for Fear will premiere Thursday, September 29 on Shudder.

· Extended scene:

Queer for Fear is a four-part documentary series about the history of the LGBTQ+ community in the horror and thriller genres. From its literary origins with queer authors Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker, and Oscar Wilde to the pansy craze of the 1920s that influenced Universal Monsters and Hitchcock; from the “lavender scare” alien invasion films of the mid-20th century to the AIDS obsessed bloodletting of 80s vampire films; through genre-bending horrors from a new generation of queer creators; Queer for Fear re-examines genre stories through a queer lens, seeing them not as violent, murderous narratives, but as tales of survival that resonate thematically with queer audiences everywhere.

BREAKOUT SENEGALESE FILM TO RECEIVE U.S. THEATRICAL RUN VIA IFC MIDNIGHT – OPENING IN NY & LA ON SEPTEMBER 2 FILM TO PLAY AT NEW YORK’S IFC CENTER AND LOS ANGELES’ ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE | Streams September 8 Only on Shudder
NEW YORK – July 14, 2022 – Shudder, AMC Networks’ premium streaming service for horror, thrillers and the supernatural, and IFC Midnight announced today a theatrical run for the highly-anticipated and award-winning Shudder Original Saloum beginning Friday, September 2 ahead of the film’s streaming debut on Thursday, September 8. A national rollout will follow beginning Friday, September 9. The film, written and directed by Jean Luc Herbulot (Dealer) was a breakout release of Midnight Madness at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival, before playing Fantastic Fest 2021, the Red Sea International Film Festival, the Sydney Film Festival, and the 2021 Vancouver International Film Festival.

“Saloum is a bold combination of horror, revenge thriller and African folklore that’s worthy of every bit of praise it’s been receiving at festivals,” said Shudder General Manager, Craig Engler. “We’re proud to share this incredibly original and thrilling film from the distinctive voice of Jean Luc Herbulot with our members and theatergoers.”

Said Herbulot, “I created the Hyenas as a personal gift for my own 7-year-old self who grew up without heroes and my 37-year-old self who was bored by modern African cinema, and today I hope they can be the heroes of many across the globe. It’s very important for us at Lacmé that this type of story offers a glimpse of what African myths and legends can generously deliver to a global audience.”

In Saloum, shot down after fleeing a coup and extracting a drug lord from Guinea-Bissau, the legendary mercenaries known as the Bangui Hyenas – Chaka, Rafa and Midnight – must stash their stolen gold bounty, lay low long enough to repair and refuel their plane and escape back to Dakar, Senegal. When they take refuge at a holiday camp in the coastal region of Sine-Saloum, they do their best to blend in with their fellow guests; including a mute named Awa, with secrets of her own, and a policeman who may be on their tail, but it’s Chaka who happens to be hiding the darkest secret of them all. Unbeknownst to the other Hyenas, he’s brought them there for a reason and once his past catches up to him, his decisions have devastating consequences, threatening to unleash hell on them all.

Saloum stars Yann Gael, Evelyne Ily Juhen, Roger Sallah, Bruno Henry, Marielle Salmier and Mentor Ba. The film marks the first production from Pamela Diop and Herbulot’s pan-African Lacme Studios. Diop produced Saloum and the executive producers are Hus Miller, Douglas Jackson, and Mike Shema. Alexis Perrin and EV.L Prod are co-producers.

The acquisition deal was negotiated by Emily Gotto, VP, Global Acquisitions & Co-Productions on behalf of Shudder and Adeline Fontan Tessaur, co-Founder and Managing Director of Elle Driver on behalf of the filmmakers.

“For more than three decades, GWAR has set the standard for heavy metal horror with larger-than-life personas and gore-filled stage shows that were unlike anything anyone had ever seen,” said Shudder General Manager Craig Engler. “But even their most ardent fans have never seen them like this, as the band and director Scott Barber reveal in moving detail the literal blood, sweat and tears that have made GWAR the true legends they are today.”

Added GWAR, “GWAR is founded on horror, humor, and heavy metal. Of course, we love Shudder! It’s our favorite. Every movie is like a home movie for us. Are you kidding me?? Monsters, demons, the undead, dinosaurs? Those are our people! GWAR and Shudder. Two terrifying tastes that taste terrifying together.”

This is GWAR is the powerful story of the iconic heavy metal art collective, as told by the humans who have fought to keep it alive for over thirty years. The feature documentary includes interviews with the band members, both past and present, and other artists, including Weird Al Yankovic, Thomas Lennon, Alex Winter, Bam Margera, and Ethan Embry, including never seen footage of legendary GWAR frontman Dave Brockie (Oderus Urungus).

This is GWAR is directed by Scott Barber (Orange Years: The Nickelodeon Story), with producers Tommy Avallone (Bill Murray Stories) and Josh Goldbloom (V/H/S/94). Executive Producers include Bill Parks, Zach Blair, Matthew Helderman, and Luke Taylor.

The deal was negotiated by Josh Goldbloom on behalf of the filmmakers, and Emily Gotto, VP, Global Acquisitions & Co-Productions on behalf of Shudder.

About GWAR

The story of GWAR is carved across the history of this hopeless planet, but GWAR themselves are not of this world…Their story begins far past Uranus, in the deepest reaches of space, where the beings known as GWAR were warriors in the Scumdogs of the Universe, an elite fighting force in the army of the Master of All Reality. But GWAR proved too reckless and powerful, and after a series of tragic but hilarious blunders, they were banished to the furthest reaches of the galaxy, with orders to conquer an insignificant backwater prehistoric mudball known as the planet Earth. Once here, GWAR, the original Ancient Aliens, shaped the face of the globe, wiping out the dinosaurs, and mating with apes to create the human race. Having accidentally given rise to all human history, the Master of All Reality froze them in Antarctic ice where they could do no more harm. It was there they were discovered by a shady entrepreneur known as Sleazy P Martini, who sat the band down in front of professional wrestling, late-night horror movies, heavy metal music, and a steady diet of crack cocaine until GWAR became the cultural force they are today!

Shudder Releases Key Art For Original Docu-Series Queer For Fear

Shudder released today the key art for Queer for Fear, the four-part docu-series about the history of queer people in the thriller genre. From executive producers Bryan Fuller (Hannibal, Pushing Daisies) and Steak House (Launchpad, The Mustang), Queer for Fear, A Shudder Original Documentary Series, will debut in Fall 2022 on Shudder and via the Shudder offering within the AMC+ bundle. The key art features Alaska Thunderfuck (Drag Artist, Winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 2) photographed by Tayo Kuku Jr.

Queer for Fear is a four-part documentary series about the history of the LGBTQ+ community in the horror and thriller genres. From its literary origins with queer authors Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker, and Oscar Wilde to the pansy craze of the 1920s that influenced Universal Monsters and Hitchcock, through the “lavender scare” alien invasion films of the mid-20th century and the AIDS obsessed bloodletting of 80s vampire films, Queer for Fear re-examines genre stories through a queer lens, seeing them not as violent, murderous narratives, but as tales of survival that resonate thematically with queer audiences everywhere.

The docu-series features interviews with series consultant Renée “Nay” Bever (“Attack of the Queerwolf” Podcast co-host), Mark Gatiss (Co-Creator, Writer & Actor, Sherlock and Dracula on BBC), Kimberly Peirce (Writer and Director, Boys Don’t Cry, Carrie (2013), Lea DeLaria (Actor, The Rocky Horror Picture Show (2000), Orange is the New Black), Jennifer Tilly (Actor, Child’s Play franchise), Karyn Kusama (Director, Jennifer’s Body, Yellowjackets), Leslye Headland (Creator, Russian Doll), Oz Perkins (Writer & Director, Gretel & Hansel), and more.
