CULVER CITY, California¬ – August 11, 2022 – Today, Prime Video announced an official greenlight for Good Neighbors, a three-part docuseries about one of the most unique and intense competitions in international sports: The rivalry between the Mexican and American national men’s soccer teams. The docuseries will debut this fall around the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Good Neighbors will peel back the political, social, and sporting layers of a rivalry that has become must-see TV over the past 30 years. Far more than just a sports documentary, Good Neighbors spotlights the personal and professional arcs of stars from each nation, like Landon Donovan (U.S.) and Rafa Márquez (Mexico), who became symbols of their country’s cultures during their respective careers in the early and mid 2000s. Good Neighbors will also examine the passionate, international battle for on-field talent and fan support that has made the U.S.-Mexico border one of the most fascinating soccer frontiers in the world, with players – and families – from both countries becoming the focus of recruiting battles between these two deeply interconnected nations. The men’s national teams from both the U.S. and Mexico qualified for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, which kicks off in November.

Michael Smith is one of sports media’s most respected, versatile, and accomplished storytellers. Since 2020, he’s been a host and commentator for NBC Sports, serving as co-host and executive producer of the sports, current events, and culture show Brother From Another on Peacock, and contributed to NBC’s pregame coverage of Super Bowl LVI. Previously, over 15 years at ESPN, Michael served as a reporter, commentator, host, and anchor. He began his time in Bristol as an NFL insider and E:60 correspondent, before going on to co-host his own daily talk show, His & Hers, and co-anchoring SportsCenter. Prior to joining ESPN, Michael was a reporter for The Boston Globe, serving as the paper’s NFL and New England Patriots beat writer. He is also the co-founder of the California- and Connecticut-based content studio, Inflection Point Entertainment, and is a member of the 2017 Class of Henry Crown Fellows within the Aspen Global Leadership Network. Smith began his career while a student at Loyola University in his hometown of New Orleans. He received his B.S. in mass communication from Loyola in 2001.

In addition to her new role on TNF, Rooks will continue to work across Turner Sports’ programming and Bleacher Report, where she hosts Taylor Rooks X, Bleacher Report’s first show built around an individual talent. She also was Emmy- nominated last year for “Outstanding Personality/Emerging On-Air Talent.”

Prior to Bleacher Report, Taylor served as the reporter and anchor for SportsNet New York (SNY), and hosted her own podcast, TimeOut with Taylor Rooks. She previously worked as a host and reporter for the Big Ten Network, as well as a sideline reporter for CBS Sports Network. A native of Georgia, Taylor attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she majored in broadcast journalism and reported on football and basketball recruiting for scout.com. She made national news with her stories and knowledge of basketball – specifically in recruiting – and interned with the PGA TOUR, Comcast SportsNet Chicago, and Fox Sports.

Rooks joins an all-star Thursday Night Football broadcast team that includes legendary play-by-play announcer Al Michaels, five-time Emmy-winning analyst Kirk Herbstreit, award-winning reporter Kaylee Hartung, Pro Football Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez, All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman, NFL quarterback extraordinaire Ryan Fitzpatrick, NFL expert and top sports television host Charissa Thompson, and recently announced contributors and Super Bowl Champions Andrew Whitworth and Aqib Talib. Fred Gaudelli, producer of seven Super Bowls and a recent inductee into the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame, will serve as the executive producer of Thursday Night Football’s game coverage. Multi-Emmy-award-winners Mike Muriano and Spoon Daftary are the executive and senior coordinating producers of Thursday Night Football’s pregame, halftime, and postgame coverage.

There’s double the good news for fans of the Victorian detective series Miss Scarlet and the Duke!

Season 2 is coming to MASTERPIECE on PBS Sunday, Oct. 16, 8/7c, and Season 3 will follow soon enough on January 8, 2023, 8/7c!

While we’re waiting for two new seasons, we’ll catch you up on the basics of what the show is about, the cast, how you can stream Season 1 and more.

About the Show and What’s Ahead

Move over Sherlock Holmes! Victorian England’s first-ever female sleuth is on the case. Kate Phillips stars as astute private eye Eliza Scarlet, joined by Stuart Martin as her partner at Scotland Yard – Detective Inspector William “The Duke” Wellington.

Season 1 is set in London at the start of the Sherlock Holmes era, circa 1880. Eliza’s father, Henry, is a widowed retired police officer, currently a private detective running up bills and drinking through his occasional earnings. Nonetheless, he’s a talented investigator, and has taught his only child, Eliza, the trade since she was a girl. She is now determined to break into this male-only profession.

Fortunately, Eliza’s childhood friend happens to be a detective inspector at Scotland Yard: William “The Duke” Wellington. He gets his nickname from the most famous Englishman of the 19th century: the Duke of Wellington, victor over Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo. Like that other Wellington, the Duke is cool and decisive in a scrape. And he’s also a ladies’ man, which leads to interesting complications with Eliza.

Sometimes working together – but often at odds – Eliza and the Duke tackle a series of fascinating cases. On launching her business, Eliza’s initial challenge is not criminals or clients so much as getting society to take a female detective seriously, even one who has mastered wounds, poisons, motives, and red herrings.

Season 2 opens a few months after the conclusion of Season 1: Eliza has solved a very personal case that vexed her throughout Season 1; her relationship with William (“the Duke”) continues to slowly simmer; and she continues to face the challenges of being a female private detective in male-dominated Victorian London.

The Cast and Characters

Just starting out with Miss Scarlet and The Duke? Here are some of the unforgettable characters you’ll meet in Season 1, along with brief bios of the actors who portray them.

Kate Phillips (Miss Scarlet): Miss Scarlet may appear to be a refined Victorian lady, but she’s also as scrappy and feisty, resilient and strong-spirited.

Before her days solving crime and irking the Duke as Eliza Scarlet, Phillips made a name for herself in series such as Peaky Blinders (as Linda Shelby) and The Crown (as Venetia Scott). MASTERPIECE fans may remember Phillips as Jane Seymour in Wolf Hall and as Tillie Seigler in My Mother and Other Strangers.

Stuart Martin (The Duke): William “The Duke” Wellington is a tough Scotland Yard inspector who lives and breathes his work – and believes that only a man can do the work of a detective properly. But his old friend Eliza Scarlet is determined to prove him wrong

Martin is known for his work on television series including his three-season run on Jamestown as Silas Sharrow, on Medici as Lorenzo, and in the limited series Babylon. Martin’s talents don’t just stop at traditional on-screen roles. The actor has leant his vocal talents to a number of popular video games, including Assassin’s Creed, Dreamfall Chapters, and Ryse: Son of Rome.

Cathy Belton (Ivy, the Scarlet family’s housekeeper): Ivy does what she can to be part housekeeper, part parent to Eliza after the death of her father, but impulsive Eliza isn’t exactly the best at listening to her advice.

Prior to her days on Miss Scarlet & The Duke, Belton was best known for her work in the award-winning film Philomena, alongside Judi Dench, and for starring roles in series such as Red Rock and The Woman in White.

Andrew Gower (Rupert Parker): Parker seems to be a mild-mannered oddball from a wealthy family. But underneath it all, he’s an independent think and strikes up a unique friendship with Miss Scarlet.

MASTERPIECE fans may recognize Gower from his appearance in the fifth and final season of Poldark as James Hadfield, whose attempt to assassinate King George III was foiled by none other than Ross Poldark himself. Gower also made a name for himself in the second season of Outlander as the “Bonnie Prince” Charles Stuart.

Ansu Kabia (Moses): Fans may recognize Kabia from his roles in films such as Murder on the Orient Express and Last Christmas, or from TV roles in series such as I May Destroy You and Casualty. Miss Scarlet and The Duke, however, is not Kabia’s first MASTERPIECE role – the actor also appeared in World on Fire and The Long Song.

Kevin Doyle (Henry Scarlet): Henry Scarlet, a retired police officer, is the original Scarlet detective in the family. Before his untimely death, Mr. Scarlet ran his business into some trouble, leaving Eliza to pick up the pieces after his death. But it turns out Miss Scarlet may not be so alone after all, as Henry’s memory guides her through the shady London underworld in Season 1.

Doyle is recognized for his six seasons as Mr. Molesley in the Downton Abbey television series, and the subsequent films. On top of his Downton days, Doyle has also appeared in a number of series including Happy Valley, The Tudors, and Silent Witness.

Returning to Prime Video on August 19 in its most competitive season yet, hosts and executive producers Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn search for the next great global fashion brand. The new season will drop two episodes each week, culminating in an epic finale on September 9, exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

About Making the Cut:

Making the Cut is once again on a mission to find the next great global fashion brand. Season Three of the fashion-competition series, hosted and executive produced by Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn, will return August 19 on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. Actress and House of Harlow 1960 creative director Nicole Richie and fashion pop icon and Moschino creative director Jeremy Scott will return as judges, with pop superstars Chloe x Halle, A-list stylist Jason Bolden, and fashion TikToker and model Wisdom Kaye making appearances as guest judges throughout the season.

Ciara Chyanne Morgan (Watts, Los Angeles, California): Ciara Chyanne Morgan is a self-taught designer who took extended fashion courses at OTIS College of Art and Design, the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, Woodbury University, and has a degree in sales and marketing from HBCU Tuskegee University. With a passion for design, she has her own brand, Ciara Chyanne, that focuses on contemporary, elevated ready-to-wear, and she designs and consults for other companies. Ciara has been featured in Essence magazine, her designs have been worn by Elaine Welteroth and Liza Koshy on shows such as The Talk and Live! with Kelly and Ryan, and she was recently featured on The Tamron Hall Show’s “Up & Coming Designer Series.” Ciara is also a recipient of the 2022 VISA “She’s Next In Fashion” grant.

Curtis Cassell (Brooklyn, New York): Founder and designer of the nonbinary label Queera, Curtis Cassell launched his brand in New York City circa 2020. He studied graphic design at Columbia College Chicago and graduated with a degree in interior architecture from The Illinois Institute of Art – Chicago. His love for architecture and old movies inspires his silhouettes, telling a story with each individual piece. Gabriella Meyer (Chicago, Illinois): Self-taught fashion designer Gabriella Meyer creates readymade and custom streetwear with a rarefied style through her brand DENIMCRATIC. Her commitment to recycled materials and novel denim techniques won her early acclaim as a designer. Today, DENIMCRATIC has expanded into knitwear and other mediums, continuing to focus on sustainable designs with a provocative perspective. In order to develop her already commanding technique, she studied drapery at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Jeanette is currently a full-time designer and has worked on the design team of Urban Zen by Donna Karan and Jolibe Atelier. In 2015, she started her own namesake brand and has presented multiple successful collections at New York Fashion Week.

Markantoine Lynch-Boisvert (Montreal, Canada): From Shawinigan, Quebec, to Montreal – with a quick pitstop in Los Angeles – Markantoine Lynch-Boisvert is the eclectic mind behind conceptual skatewear brand MRKNTN. With his mélange (pardon our French) of historical techniques, disparate cinematic references, and his distinctive youthful energy, Marky tells you a story that you can wear. Because having a brand is not enough, Markantoine shares his passion for creation as the cool teacher at your favorite fashion school in Montreal, LaSalle College. Fun fact: Markantoine was chosen to exhibit alongside the one and only Thierry Mugler in the designer’s exhibition premiere.

Sienna Li (Harbin, China): Born and raised in China, Sienna Li is a full-time fashion designer based in New York City. Her work has been featured in magazines and online editorials such as Vogue Italia, Harper’s Bazaar, and L’OFFICIEL. With a master’s degree in modern and contemporary literature from University of York, she studied fashion at Parsons School of Design. She launched her namesake high-end women’s wear brand in 2015 and hopes to create a sister brand that is more affordable and accessible.

Yannik Zamboni (Zurich, Switzerland): Yannik Zamboni has a Bachelor of Arts in fashion design from University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland. He grew up in a small Swiss town with 700 people and has always stood out from the crowd. He was previously a model and then worked in marketing, but quit a well-paying job to pursue his creativity and dream of working in fashion. He is currently a full-time designer for his brand that he founded in September 2020, maison blanche, which pushes the conversation of various sociopolitical issues and addresses taboo topics by means of conceptual fashion. His brand’s subversive content is reflected in deconstructed designs and aims to expand the rules of conduct. Yannik and his brand believe that sustainability is divided into four important spheres: ethical and moral, socio-political, ecological, and economical, which must all be respected and adhered to.

Amazon Freevee announced the August 12 premiere date for Post Malone: Runaway, a one-hour documentary from Emmy award-winning studio Pulse Films, a part of Vice Media Group, showcasing the story of Grammy-nominated, three-times diamond-certified artist Post Malone’s first arena tour. The film, which marks the service’s second Original movie, will feature exclusive backstage access, live performances, and intimate interviews.
In September 2019, Post Malone’s Runaway Tour marked a pivotal moment in the evolution of his career, where he stepped up and became this generation’s undisputed rock star. Filmed just before COVID-19 grounded the tour – and whole world – to a halt, the film reveals unforgettable backstage access and peels back the curtain on Post Malone’s world and his epic 37-date North American tour. The film takes viewers into the eye of the touring storm, while digging deep into the stories, songs, and characters that made up this now-legendary tour.

From Pulse Films and Federal Films, Post Malone: Runaway was created by BAFTA-nominated Hector Dockrill and written and produced by Sam Bridger and Casey Engelhardt. The film is executive produced by Dre London, Austin Rosen, Bobby Greenleaf, and Marisa Clifford.
