TV ONE ANNOUNCES NEW AND RETURNING SLATE OF ORIGINAL PROGRAMMING FOR 2021

Amid Positive Year-Over-Year Growth, Sister Network CLEO TV Renews Fan-Favorite Series’ and Adds New, Unscripted Programming Directed at Millennial Women Of Color

(SILVER SPRING, MD) – April 15, 2021 – Today, TV One announced a robust new slate of programming across their linear and digital networks at their 2021 Upfronts presentation. The presentation was led by Michelle Rice, President, TV One and CLEO TV, Rahsan-Rahsan Lindsay, EVP Ad Sales and Marketing, and Robyn Greene Arrington, VP Programming and Production. Executives were joined by network talent including Essence Atkins (COINS FOREVER), Jazz Smollett (LIVING BY DESIGN), and Jernard Wells (NEW SOUL KITCHEN).

The network has become the trusted source for content to feed viewers’ mind, body, and soul. The acclaimed portfolio of informative and inspirational programming will be bolstered with the addition of the new health and wellness series, MINDING YOUR BODY AND SOUL (WT) hosted by AJ Johnson. The new programming will join all new episodes of REPRESENT OUR VOICE, which launched in 2020, originally to build awareness and provide information leading up to the 2020 presidential election, but has expanded to include new episodes that keep viewers engaged and involved in topics relevant to the Black community. Additionally, TV One will add SINS OF THE CITY to the night of true crime originals, airing on Thursday nights, beginning May 13. CLEO TV is expanding its lifestyle content with THE CLEO CHRONICLES, and CULTURE KITCHEN and FOOD OF THE DIASPORA. In addition to its streaming platforms, Cleo TV also debuted on linear broadcast channels, extending its audience.

This year, TV One launched TV One Rewind, a part of a suite of full episode player housing a library of classic content available on tvone.tv and our TV One app. The network will air its third-annual URBAN ONE HONORS on Sunday, May 16 at 9PM EST/8C a night of excellence celebrating six phenomenal, trailblazing Black women for their professional achievements and contributions to enhance their community and beyond. There will also be renewals across TV One including new seasons of the hit docu-series’ UNCENSORED and UNSUNG. TV One’s sister network, CLEO TV will see the return of fan-favorite lifestyle series including CLEO SPEAKS, LIVING BY DESIGN WITH JAKE AND JAZZ, JUST EATS WITH CHEF JJ, and NEW SOUL KITCHEN.

MINDING YOUR BODY AND SOUL (WT)

MINDING YOUR BODY AND SOUL is a new one-hour series that showcases people’s emergence from the shadows of unhealthy habits and unhappy lives. Famed actress-turned-healthy-life coach, AJ Johnson is swinging the door open for those who dare to change course and get on a healthy life journey. Collaborating with mind, body, and soul experts, AJ guides clients to become the best version of themselves.

REPRESENT OUR VOICE

A virtual town hall series designed to tackle various social, economic, educational, and political issues impacting the Black community today. REPRESENT OUR VOICE helps to shed light on these issues, providing a platform for must-have conversations on the inequalities afflicting people of color for decades. CNN Political Commentator Karen Finney moderates the conversations with esteemed experts and thought leaders who tackle various obstacles and provide viewers with valuable insights signifying a path forward for the Black community.

URBAN ONE HONORS

URBAN ONE HONORS acknowledges notable individuals and organizations making extraordinary strides in innovative programming, education, social activism, community service and more. The 2021 esteemed event salutes six Black women who have championed positive social change. Their work and contributions are far reaching and will be recognized. This year one recipient will be honored for her work in investigative journalism; another provides direct and immediate support to those most in need within her community; a fearless leader has soared to new heights in corporate world will be highlighted; a debt of gratitude is show for an honoree who has stood on the frontlines in the fight against COVID-19, working to combat voter suppression was a monumental undertaking successfully executed by an honoree; the tireless work to end systemic racism is progressing – one win at a time – for our last honoree.

SINS OF THE CITY

SINS OF THE CITY is a new original series that combines informative takeaways and investigative storytelling to expose the dark underbelly of popular cities you thought you knew. Viewers will follow along as investigators work to solve high-stake cases getting an exclusive entryway into the process of criminal investigation by way of narrations, interviews and archival footage.

COINS FOREVER

The third and final installment following the hit TV One original movies COINS FOR CHRISTMAS and COINS FOR LOVE telling the story of a single mom who is focused on her family and career. Caught between starting a new job, making ends meet and raising two teens on her own, superwoman Madison must now protect her heart from being burned by the man she divorced and the returning business client who may be her next chance at true love.

(SILVER SPRING, MD) April 5, 2021 – Urban One announced today its annual awards show, URBAN ONE HONORS, will pay special homage to the International Sweethearts of Rhythm. The critically acclaimed, all-female jazz band of the 1930s included Helen Jones Woods, a founding member and mother of Urban One Founder and Chairwoman, Cathy Hughes. The Sweethearts band, comprised of 17 ethnically diverse members who achieved international accolades despite discrimination, sexism and Jim Crow – to become symbols of success against adversity. URBAN ONE HONORS will air on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at 9 p.m. ET/8C on TV One and will be simulcast for the first time on TV One’s sister network, CLEO TV.

The annual awards program will feature three performances dedicated to ‘The Sweethearts.’ Each musical selection will commemorate electrifying performances of the jazz and soul ensemble’s hit singles with a modern twist. The ceremony will also feature with talented, contemporary, female performers including Jazmine Sullivan, Da Brat, Le’Andria Johnson, Avery Sunshine, and the all-female house band Kim Burse and the KB Players.

· Business Alchemist presented to a leader tapped for successfully breaking the glass ceiling to blaze new trails in corporate America.

· Investigative Journalism Crusader bestowed upon a media maven who is reframing the national conversation by covering the impediments and contributions made by Black Americans.

· Health Equality Advocate awarded to a champion of health who answered the call to eliminate institutional barriers preventing healthcare to those in her community.

· Reparations Ambassador who is working to break down systemic racism and barriers that have held African Americans back.

· Family Needs Ambassador presented to a resilient provider of direct service and resources to individuals in crisis within the community she serves.

(SILVER SPRING, MD) January 20, 2021 — TV One’s hit true crime show ATL Homicide premieres on Monday, January 25 at 9 P.M. ET/8C. Thirty-year Atlanta PD veteran Detectives David Quinn and Vince Velazquez recount their past homicide investigations cases on the streets of Atlanta along their quest to put heinous murderers behind bars. Real-life interviews are paired with dramatic recreations from actors Angelo Diaz as David Quinn and Christopher Diaz as Vince Velazquez. This season is filled with thrilling and jaw-dropping scenes to keep the true crime viewers on the edge of their seats.

In the season three premiere episode, ATL HOMICIDE spotlights the ruthless shooting death of 19-year-old Ladedderick Love, a senseless crime the detective duo recounts quite vividly. Not a stranger to street life, Love was shot one evening but succumbed to his gunshot wounds shortly after driving his pregnant girlfriend and toddler to a nearby precinct. Upon being assigned the case, Detectives Quinn and Velazquez get to work speaking to witnesses, including the victim’s mother, to pull together the pieces of this fatal mystery. Ladedderick’s mother tips off the detectives by telling them that her son may not have been entirely innocent and even provides a key name. Yet, when she refused to give out any more information, the detectives are left with even more puzzle pieces to find.

(SILVER SPRING, MD) January 7, 2021 – TV One dives into a third season of the nail biting true crime series ATL HOMICIDE, premiering on Monday, January 25 at 9 p.m. ET/8C. Viewers will reunite with the passionate and fearless veteran homicide detectives David Quinn and Vince Velazquez of the Atlanta Police Department as they disclose first-hand accounts of real-life murder investigations. Each episode follows the thirty-year Atlanta PD veterans as they reveal how they solved tragic crimes committed in the Atlanta metro area while working side by side as partners in the homicide division.

“With a bigger focus lately on police reform, we hope ATL Homicide can continue to show a different side of law enforcement that many of our citizens don’t normally see.” said Vince Velazquez.

The hour-long show will dive deep into Quinn and Velazquez’s personal experiences as detectives as they narrate step-by-step some of their most bone-chilling cases. The dramatic stories, based on true events have been re-created through flashbacks and showcase actors Angelo Diaz as David Quinn and Christopher Diaz as Vince Velazquez.

The retelling of these investigations take the viewer on an adventure of mystery and intrigue. In its third season ATL HOMICIDE brings all new stories of real and raw experiences as the detectives seek to deliver justice on behalf of the victims.

In the season premiere episode, Quinn and Vince investigate the tragic murder of a young father gunned down at a gas station. The detectives narrow in on a local drug dealer as the suspect, but as they near the finish line, they find that their closest ally may hold the darkest secrets in this complicated investigation. Throughout the season, ATL HOMICIDE brings all-new stories of real and raw experiences as the detectives seek to deliver justice on behalf of the victims.
