SYFY’S ‘RESIDENT ALIEN’ EXTENDS ITS STAY ON EARTH WITH SEASON 2 RENEWAL

The Season One Finale for the Alan Tudyk-Led Dramedy from UCP, Amblin TV and Dark Horse Will Air on March 31

First Three Episodes Now Available on Peacock With a New Episode Dropping Every Friday

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – March 17, 2021 – SYFY’s hit dramedy “Resident Alien,” one of the biggest cable success stories of the year, is returning for a second season.

The announcement was made by Lisa Katz, President, Scripted Content, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming.

“With ‘Resident Alien,’ everything just came together in perfect harmony – a script by Chris Sheridan that leapt off the page, a lead performance by Alan Tudyk, whose nuance between comedy and menace was pitch perfect, and a team of producers, cast and crew who were all striving to do something great,” Katz said. “The appeal of this show transcended the sci-fi genre in a way that enabled us to bring in a broader audience, and as the series continues we hope to encourage more and more fans to discover Harry’s very particular perspective on humans.”

In its successful first season, “Resident Alien” is the most-watched new cable drama in the last year in total viewers and #2 in the 18-49 demo. It’s also SYFY’s highest-rated new drama in more than six years in total viewers and earns the second-biggest time-shifting gain for any cable drama in the last year in total viewers.

The Jan. 27 series premiere has garnered 9.3 million viewers across all platforms and NBCU networks. In live + 3 comparisons, the following week’s episode saw an increase of 581,000 viewers, the biggest jump for a cable drama launch since 2014

The 10-episode first season of “Resident Alien” will wrap on Wednesday, March 31 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on SYFY.

The first three episodes of “Resident Alien” are now available on Peacock, NBCUniversal’s streaming platform, enabling audiences to catch up on season one before the show returns for season two on SYFY. Following the initial three episodes, a new episode will drop on Peacock every Friday until the complete season is available on the platform.

The show’s Jan. 27 cross-platform launch was illustrative of the strategy to leverage the power of NBCU’s entertainment portfolio to engage audiences across NBCU’s TV portfolio, a strategy emphasized by Frances Berwick, Chairman, Entertainment Networks, when she first took the job last fall.

Based on the Dark Horse comic from Peter Hogan and Stephen Parkhouse, “Resident Alien’ follows Harry, an alien played by Alan Tudyk (“Rogue One,” “Firefly”) that crash lands on Earth and passes himself off as a small-town human doctor. Arriving with a secret mission to kill all humans, Harry starts off living a simple life … but things get a bit rocky when he’s roped into solving a local murder and realizes he needs to assimilate into his new world. As he does so, he begins to wrestle with the moral dilemma of his mission and asking the big life questions like: “Are human beings worth saving?” and “Why do they fold their pizza before eating it?”

The series also stars Sara Tomko, Corey Reynolds, Alice Wetterlund and Levi Fiehler.

From UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, in association with Amblin TV and Dark Horse Entertainment, “Resident Alien” was adapted to television by executive producer Chris Sheridan (“Family Guy”). Mike Richardson (“Hellboy”) and Keith Goldberg (“The Legend of Tarzan”) of Dark Horse Entertainment (“The Umbrella Academy”), and Justin Falvey (“The Americans”) and Darryl Frank (“The Americans”) of Amblin TV also executive produce. David Dobkin (“Wedding Crashers”) executive produced and directed the pilot. Robbie Duncan McNeill executive produced and is producing director.

SYFY STAYS UP LATE WITH ‘THE MOVIE SHOW,’ HOSTED BY HILARIOUS PUPPET DUO

SYFY STAYS UP LATE WITH ‘THE MOVIE SHOW,’ HOSTED BY HILARIOUS PUPPET DUO

Network to Preview First Two Episodes of New Comedic Movie Review Show on Friday, Nov. 27 and Sunday, Nov. 29; New Episodes to Air Thursdays Beginning Dec. 3

NEW YORK – Nov. 16, 2020 – Lights, camera, movies!

SYFY’S new late-night comedy series “The Movie Show,” a fictional public access movie review show hosted by two puppets discussing the biggest sci-fi blockbusters of all time, will arrive Thanksgiving weekend on Friday, Nov. 27 and Sunday, Nov. 29 at 11:35 p.m. ET/PT with two preview telecasts. The 12-episode series will officially launch in its regular timeslot on Thursday, Dec. 3 at 11 p.m.

Taped deep in the heart of the entertainment capital of the world in Modesto, Calif., “The Movie Show” is hosted by polar opposites Deb and Wade (voiced by Adam Dubowsky and Alex Stone), both of whom have nothing in common other than their shared love of movies and that they’re puppets. Each week they’ll dish out hot takes on upcoming blockbusters, including “Wonder Woman 1984,” “Dune” and “Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3,” as well as classic fan-favorites such as “Back to the Future,” “Jumanji” and “Apollo 13.”

The show will feature exclusive deleted scenes and a star-studded line-up of interview guests, including Bruce the shark from “Jaws” and Steven King’s laptop. Deb and Wade will also catch-up with everyone’s favorite movie stars of yesteryear, such as the T-Rex from “Jurassic Park,” Splinter from “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” and many more.

“The Movie Show” is produced by Line by Line Media with Dubowsky, Stone, Bob Unger and Sam Sarkoob serving as executive producers.

‘THE MOVIE SHOW’ HOST BIOS

Wade (voiced by Stone) – Wade is “The Movie Show’s” resident movie buff, and according to his mom, he’s also the show’s resident “handsome little man.” Wade loves movies with big explosions, fast cars and CGI monsters that destroy major metropolitan areas. Wade is also an aspiring writer/director/producer/future guy that gets those free movie screeners. He considers himself an artist of the highest integrity and his list of influences includes such greats as his friend Brian from TikTok, and whoever directed those GEICO caveman commercials.
Deb (voiced by Dubowsky) – Deb is an enormous movie fan and she is absolutely encyclopedic in her nerdom. There isn’t a character, actor or movie title she can’t name. In addition to co-hosting “The Movie Show,” Deb is a film critic for the Modesto Bird and won’t hesitate to share her strong opinions on a movie with you, especially if your name is Wade and your opinions are incredibly stupid. Deb will answer any movie or comic book question that you have – just don’t ask to take her “Jurassic Park” action figures out of their boxes as it will severely compromise their $44 value.
