STARZ GREENLIGHTS “BLACK MAFIA FAMILY” FROM EXECUTIVE PRODUCER CURTIS “50 CENT” JACKSON

Series Produced by Jackson’s G-Unit Film and Television Production Company in association with Starz and Lionsgate Television

Santa Monica, Calif. – April 6, 2020 – Starz, a Lionsgate company (NYSE: LGF.A, LGF.B), today announced a production greenlight for “Black Mafia Family,” a new original series from executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson (“Power,” “Power Book II: Ghost,” “For Life”) and writer and executive producer Randy Huggins (“Star,” “Rebel,” “Power”).

“This is a project Curtis has always been incredibly passionate about and we are excited to have him as our partner in bringing it to life,” said Jeffrey Hirsch, President and CEO, Starz. “‘Black Mafia Family’ has all the hallmarks of a great drama, from the larger-than-life Flenory brothers to the deadly, high-stakes world they inhabited. This series is going to be an incredible ride for audiences around the world.”

“I told you ‘Black Mafia Family’ was coming and it’s going to be the biggest show on television,” adds Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson. “Meech and Terry are legends and I am excited to bring their story to Starz.”

“Black Mafia Family” is inspired by the true story of two brothers who rose from the decaying streets of southwest Detroit in the late 1980’s and gave birth to one of the most influential crime families in this country. Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory’s charismatic leadership, Terry “Southwest T” Flenory’s business acumen and the fraternal partnership’s vision beyond the drug trade and into the world of Hip Hop would render the brothers iconic on a global level. Their unwavering belief in family loyalty would be the cornerstone of their partnership and the crux of their eventual estrangement. This is a story about love, family, and capitalism in the pursuit of the American dream.

“Black Mafia Family” is produced through Jackson’s G-Unit Film and Television in association with Starz and Lionsgate Television. Terri Kopp and Anthony Wilson also serve as executive producers on the series.

Senior Vice President of Original Programming Kathryn Tyus-Adair is the executive overseeing “Black Mafia Family” on behalf of Starz.

STARZ PINS DOWN THREE SERIES REGULARS FOR “HEELS”

Chris Bauer, Allen Maldonado and James Harrison Join Cast

Santa Monica, Calif. – March 11, 2020 – Starz, a Lionsgate company (NYSE: LGF.A, LGF.B), today announced Chris Bauer (“The Deuce,” “True Blood,” “The Wire”), Allen Maldonado (“The Last O.G.,” “Black-ish,” “You’re the Worst”) and two-time Super Bowl champion James Harrison (“S.W.A.T.”, Remember Amnesia) have been cast as series regulars in the STARZ Original series “Heels.”

Chris Bauer will portray “Wild Bill Hancock,” a larger-than-life former wrestling star who is now a high-level pro wrestling scout. Allen Maldonado plays “Rooster Robbins,” one of the best wrestlers in the circuit who always has something to prove, and always backs it up. James Harrison, Jr. is cast in the role of “Apocalypse,” a been-around-the-block journeyman wrestler who’s been at it for decades and has no illusions of fame or glory.

Chris Bauer most recently starred in “The Deuce” and “For All Mankind” and he portrayed Jimmy Flaherty for four seasons of the STARZ Original hit series “Survivor’s Remorse.” He also starred in “True Blood,” the award- winning FX limited series “The People vs. OJ Simpson” and is known for his acclaimed role as union boss “Frank Sobotka” in “The Wire.” Bauer will next be seen opposite Denzel Washington in the Warner Bros. film The Little Things. Other film appearances include Clint Eastwood’s Sully and Money Monster, directed by Jodie Foster. Bauer is repped Peg Donegan and attorney Ira Schreck.

Allen Maldonado landed his first television role at the age of 21 in the daytime series “The Young & The Restless.” After recovering from a near-fatal car accident, he appeared in the Emmy(R)-nominated drama “Judging Amy” as well as “The Shield,” “Rizoli & Isles,” Straight Outta Compton, Cake, The Equalizer and the feature film remake of Superfly. Maldonado most recently appeared on “You’re the Worst,” “The Last O.G.” and “Black-ish.” In addition to acting, he also runs Get It Done Records record company, Only Son Productions and Vineyards Phinest t-shirt line where a portion of the proceeds go to his foundation, Demo Nerds which provides free acting classes and services for at-risk youth and foster children in the inner cities of Los Angeles. Maldonado is repped by Red Baron Management, CAA and attorneys Ira Schreck and Carolyn Conrad.

James Harrison was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted rookie free agent after going undrafted in the 2002 NFL Draft. After being cut several times, he signed with the Steelers in 2004 and played 15 seasons in the NFL (Steelers, Cincinnati Bengals, New England Patriots). The two-time Super Bowl Champion landed his first role on the big screen in the 2019 indie movie Remember Amnesia and had a guest-starring role in an episode of “S.W.A.T.” (“The B-Team”) that aired in 2019. Harrison is repped by UTA, attorney Jonathan Shikora and manager PR1 Communication.

“Heels” is a story about the men and women who chase their dreams in the world of small town pro wrestling. Set in a close-knit Georgia community, it follows a family-owned wrestling promotion as two brothers and rivals war over their late father’s legacy. In the ring, somebody must play the good guy and somebody must play their nemesis, the heel. But in the real world, those characters can be hard to live up to – or hard to leave behind.

The series is written by Michael Waldron (“Loki,” “Rick and Morty”) with Mike O’Malley (“Survivor’s Remorse,” “Shameless”) serving as showrunner. Along with Waldron and O’Malley, LBI Entertainment’s Julie Yorn (Hell or High Water, White Boy Rick, The Dirt), Peter Segal (Get Smart, 50 First Dates, Tommy Boy, “Shameless”), Chris Donnelly and Patrick Walmsley will also serve as Executive Producers. “Heels” is produced by Lionsgate TV for STARZ in association with Paramount Television Studios. Vice President of Original Programming, Samantha Offsay Nissen, is the executive overseeing “Heels” on behalf of Starz.

COURTENEY COX CAST IN LEAD ROLE IN STARZ’S HORROR COMEDY PILOT “SHINING VALE”

Santa Monica, Calif. – February 28, 2020 – Starz, a Lionsgate company (NYSE: LGF.A, LGF.B), today announced Golden Globe(R) nominee Courteney Cox (“Friends,” “Cougar Town”) is set to star in the horror comedy pilot “Shining Vale,” playing the lead role of Patricia “Pat” Phelps. The half-hour comedy from Jeff Astrof and Sharon Horgan is produced by Warner Bros. Television and Lionsgate in association with Other Shoe Productions, Merman and Kapital Entertainment.

“As Starz continues to expand its slate of original comedy series, we are incredibly proud to bring a talented actress such as Courteney Cox to the network to topline ‘Shining Vale,'” said Jeffrey Hirsch, President and CEO of Starz. “Her previous success in the genre combined with her well-honed comedic chops make her the ideal actor to bring Pat to life.”

“Shining Vale” is a horror comedy about a dysfunctional family that moves from the city to a small town into a house in which terrible atrocities have taken place. But no one seems to notice except for Pat (Cox), who’s convinced she’s either depressed or possessed – turns out, the symptoms are exactly the same. Patricia “Pat” Phelps is a former “wild child” who rose to fame by writing a raunchy, drug-and-alcohol-soaked women’s empowerment novel (a.k.a. lady porn). Fast forward 17 years later, Pat is clean and sober but totally unfulfilled. She still hasn’t written her second novel, she can’t remember the last time she had sex with her husband, and her teenage kids are at that stage where they love their vile friends and want you dead. She was a faithful wife until her one slip-up: a torrid 15-night-stand with a hot, young artist/handyman/musician neighbor. In a last-ditch effort to save her marriage, she and her family move from the “crazy” of the city to a large, old house in the suburbs where evil and humor collide.

Courteney Cox gained overnight fame as she endeared herself to millions as the neurotic yet loveable Monica Geller on the Emmy(R) Award-winning NBC/WBTV comedy “Friends.” For six seasons, Cox starred as Jules Cobb in her Golden Globe(R)-nominated role as a recently divorced mom in her forties facing the humorous challenges, pitfalls and rewards of life’s next chapter in the comedy sitcom “Cougar Town.” Cox also currently serves as an executive producer and the host on Facebook Watch’s documentary series, “Nine Months with Courteney Cox” via her Hopper Productions banner and Ample Entertainment. The widely popular series received a nomination for “Short Form Series” for the first ever Critics’ Choice Real TV Awards in 2018 and is currently filming its second season, set to air in 2020.

Cox is repped by WME Entertainment and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.

“Shining Vale” is executive produced by Jeff Astrof (“Trial & Error,” “Ground Floor,”) from Other Shoe Productions, Sharon Horgan (“Divorce,” “Catastrophe”) and Clelia Mountford (“Motherland,” “This Way Up,”) from Merman, and Aaron Kaplan (“Life in Pieces,” “The Chi”) and Dana Honor (“A Million Little Things,” “The Neighborhood”) from Kapital Entertainment. Astrof wrote the pilot, from a story by Horgan & Astrof. Dearbhla Walsh (“The Handmaid’s Tale,” “Traitors”) directs and executive produces the pilot.

Senior Vice President of Original Programming Susan Lewis is the executive overseeing “Shining Vale” on behalf of Starz.
