Santa Monica, Calif. – April 16, 2021 – STARZ today announced it has given an eight-episode series order for the horror comedy “Shining Vale,” starring Golden Globe(R) nominee Courteney Cox (“Friends,” “Cougar Town”), Academy Award(R) nominee and Emmy Award(R) winner Greg Kinnear, Oscar(R) winner Mira Sorvino (“Hollywood,” “The Expecting”), Merrin Dungey (“Big Little Lies,” “The Resident”), Gus Birney (“Dickinson”) and Dylan Gage (“PEN15”). Dearbhla Walsh (“The Handmaid’s Tale,” “Traitors”) directed and executive produced the pilot episode. The chilling half-hour comedy from Jeff Astrof (“Trial & Error,” “Ground Floor,”) and Sharon Horgan (“Divorce,” “Catastrophe”) is the newest title from STARZ, which recently launched the #TakeTheLead initiative deepening the network’s existing commitment to narratives by, about and for women and underrepresented audiences.

“Shining Vale” is a horror comedy about a dysfunctional family that moves from the city to a small town into a house in which terrible atrocities have taken place. But no one seems to notice except for Pat, who’s convinced she’s either depressed or possessed – turns out, the symptoms are exactly the same. Patricia “Pat” Phelps (Cox) is a former “wild child” who rose to fame by writing a raunchy, drug-and-alcohol-soaked women’s empowerment novel (a.k.a. lady porn). Fast forward 17 years later, Pat is clean and sober but totally unfulfilled. She still hasn’t written her second novel, she can’t remember the last time she had sex with her husband (Kinnear), and her teenage kids are at that stage where they want you dead. She was a faithful wife until her one slip-up: she had a torrid affair with the hot, young handyman who came over to fix the sink while Terry was at work. In a last-ditch effort to save their marriage, she and Terry cash in all their savings and move the family move from the “crazy” of the city to a large, old house in the suburbs that has a storied past of its own. Everyone has their demons, but for Pat Phelps, they may be real.

Cox plays the lead role of Patricia “Pat” Phelps, with Kinnear playing her ever-optimistic husband, Terry Phelps, whose patience and self-control will be tested like never before. Sorvino plays Rosemary, who is either Pat’s alter ego, a split personality, her id, her muse, or a demon trying to possess her. Dungey plays Kam, Pat’s oldest friend and book editor. Gus Birney and Dylan Gage also star as Pat and Terry’s teenage kids, Gaynor and Jake.

“Shining Vale” is executive produced by Jeff Astrof from Other Shoe Productions, Sharon Horgan and Clelia Mountford (“Motherland,” “This Way Up,”) from Merman, Aaron Kaplan (“The Chi,” “The Neighborhood”) and Dana Honor (“A Million Little Things,” “The Unicorn”) from Kapital Entertainment. The five-episode series tells the timely story of the unprecedented relationship between acclaimed New York Times best-selling author and memoirist Jillian Lauren (‘Some Girls: My Life in a Harem’) and the most prolific serial killer in American history, Samuel Little, and her race against time to identify his victims before it’s too late (Little recently died in prison at the age of 80, after having avoided justice for his crimes for decades). Lauren uncovers Little’s darkest secrets and aids law enforcement in solving a multitude of cold case murders while struggling to reconcile her own history of addiction and abuse with her present-day mission to return the identities of previously nameless bodies and forgotten women. As she slips deeper into his sordid world, Jillian realizes that she may become, psychologically, Little’s last victim.

Through the perspectives of Lauren, as well as several female members of law enforcement, multiple investigators, survivors and victims’ family members, “Confronting a Serial Killer” shines a light on systemic issues within the criminal justice system including bias against marginalized communities, particularly women of color, and those struggling with addiction, mental illness, and trauma.

Madrid, 17 March, 2021 – Starzplay and THE MEDIAPRO STUDIO today announced they have started production on “Express,” Starzplay’s first International Original Series to be filmed and produced in Spain with a first look image. The action thriller is written by Iván Escobar (“Locked Up”), Antonio Sánchez Olivas (“Aida”) and Martín Suárez (“Rabia”), and created by Iván Escobar, who also serves as the series showrunner. Gabe Ibáñez (“Autómata”) and Iñaki Peñafiel (“Perdida”) are set to direct. The series will be available through the platform’s service in Spain and Latin America and in the United States on Pantaya.

Santa Monica, Calif. – Starz announced today the network has picked up an additional season of the Golden Globe(R)-nominated STARZ Original series “Outlander” from executive producer Ronald D. Moore and Sony Pictures Television. Matthew B. Roberts will continue as showrunner. Adapted from Diana Gabaldon’s international bestselling book, Starz has committed to this 12-episode order for “Outlander,” assuring the hit time-travel saga will run a seventh season.

Season Seven of the hit series will be based on the seventh of the eight books in the Outlander series, entitled An Echo in the Bone.

Caitriona Balfe (Claire Randall Fraser), Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser), Sophie Skelton (Brianna Randall) and Richard Rankin (Roger Wakefield), who are currently filming the sixth season of “Outlander” in Scotland, will return for the seventh season.

Heughan (Bloodshot, The Spy Who Dumped Me) can currently be seen in “Men in Kilts: A Roadtrip with Sam and Graham” on Sunday nights at 8:00PM ET/PT on STARZ. The eight-episode docuseries follows Heughan and “Outlander” star Graham McTavish (“Preacher,” The Hobbit Trilogy) on an epic adventure through Scotland, as they explore their heritage while meeting an incredible collection of people who truly showcase what it means to be Scottish.

“Men in Kilts” has given fans desperate for the end of Droughtlander relief by featuring “Outlander” clips within the travel docuseries. The series premiere episode was the second-highest series premiere viewed on the STARZ app1 and the #1 most social premium cable series across all live, new primetime episodes on February 14. “Men in Kilts” was a Top 3 series season premiere on STARZ since the beginning of 20202 with “Outlander” taking the #1 spot for regular premium scripted series among women viewers in 2020.3

Santa Monica, Calif. – March 4, 2021 – Starz today announced it is reviving the party and developing a six-part “Party Down” limited series. The new original comedy is being developed and executive produced by “Party Down” alumni Rob Thomas (“Veronica Mars,” “iZombie”) along with John Enbom (“iZombie,” “Benched,”), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man, Ghostbusters: Afterlife) and Dan Etheridge (“Veronica Mars,” iZombie”). Enbom also serves as showrunner. The limited series is produced for Starz by Lionsgate Television.

“Party Down” follows a Los Angeles catering team – a sextet of Hollywood wannabes stuck working for tips while hoping for their “big break.” Each episode of this half-hour comedy finds the hapless catering team working a new event – and inevitably getting tangled up with the colorful guests and their absurd lives.

“Before the cast of ‘Party Down’ became well-known television and movie actors and award winners, they were all wearing the same pink bowties as part of a less than competent team of Los Angeles cater-waiters while chasing their dreams of stardom on the STARZ series,” said Christina Davis, President of Original Programming for Starz. “Fans have been waiting more than 10 years for this revival to happen and we’re thrilled to be in development with Rob, Paul, Dan and John at the helm.”

“At the end of 2019, the ‘Party Down’ cast and producers were all reunited at a retrospective for the show hosted by Vulture. IT’S ME, MARGARET, produced by Academy Award(R) winner James L. Brooks and adapted from the beloved Judy Blume classic, and The Hunger Games prequel based on Suzanne Collins’ runaway bestseller THE BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS & SNAKES, to be helmed by Hunger Games franchise director Francis Lawrence and produced by Nina Jacobson. Future installments of the SAW franchise will also be included under the deal.
