Alice Englert and Nicholas Denton portray the notorious lovers: Camille who is taken in by the current Marquise de Merteuil (played by Lesley Manville) navigates her own path in a world of men, using the power of secrets to take back control, and Valmont who will stop at nothing to regain his title that was recently taken from him. Grammy-nominated recording artist, entrepreneur and philanthropist Fat Joe will serve as host and executive producer with Sean “Diddy” Combs attached to executive produce with his production company REVOLT Studios. SpringHill’s multi-Emmy award winning studio division, founded by LeBron James and Maverick Carter, will produce the pilot as well.

The series marks the culmination of the Bronx’s native’s evolution into becoming a media personality. In March 2020, Joe launched “The Fat Joe Show,” a nightly Instagram Live talk-show where he interviewed politicians, musicians, athletes, actors, entrepreneurs and influential personalities such as Dr. Anthony Fauci, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Floyd Mayweather, Dwyane Wade, Jamie Foxx and Alicia Keys, among several others and the platform quickly blossomed into a news-breaking engine.

ABOUT “THE SERPENT QUEEN”


A historical drama with an edge, “The Serpent Queen” puts a contemporary spin on conventional storytelling to tell the tale of Catherine de Medici’s (Samantha Morton) rise to power. In the series premiere, “Medici Bitch,” Catherine’s tale unfolds through flashbacks as she defends her actions and imparts the lessons she’s learned to her new servant confident, Rahima (Sennia Nanua, The Girl with All the Gifts, Frankie). At 14, the young, orphaned Catherine (Liv Hill, “Three Girls,” Jellyfish) marries into the 16th-century French court. Despite her commoner status, her uncle Pope Clement (Charles Dance, “Game of Thrones,” “The Crown”), has negotiated a large dowry and a geopolitical alliance in return for the union, and with it comes the expectation of many heirs. THE PRESTIGE FAMILY CRIME DRAMA STARS TONY(R) AWARD WINNER PATINA MILLER AND MEKAI CURTIS

Santa Monica, Calif – STARZ orders a third season of its hit family crime drama series “Power Book III: Raising Kanan” ahead of the upcoming season two premiere on August 14, it was announced today during its 2022 Summer Television Critics Association presentation. Production will begin this summer in New York. Averaging nearly 9M viewers across platforms in its debut season, the show had one of the best performing first seasons in STARZ history.

Set in the early 1990’s, the third series in the “Power” Universe tells the origin story of fan favorite character, “Kanan Stark,” and his entry into the criminal world through his mother, who ruthlessly runs the family’s drug empire. It stars MeKai Curtis in the titular role of “Kanan” and Tony(R) Award winner Patina Miller (Into the Woods, “Madam Secretary”) as his mother, Raquel “Raq” Thomas.

As previously announced, season two premieres on August 14 with episodes available weekly on Sundays at midnight on the STARZ app, all STARZ streaming and on-demand platforms and internationally on the STARZPLAY premium streaming platform across its complete footprint in Europe, Latin America and Japan. On linear, it will debut on STARZ at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT in the U.S. and Canada.

STARZ DOCUMENTARY SERIES SET TO PREMIERE SUNDAY, OCTOBER 23 TELLS THE COMPREHENSIVE STORY OF THE BLACK MAFIA FAMILY THAT INSPIRED THE “BMF” SCRIPTED SERIES

Santa Monica, Calif. – STARZ announced today that its docuseries “The BMF Documentary: Blowing Money Fast” will premiere Sunday, October 23, 2022. The docuseries comes on the heels of STARZ’s scripted drama series “BMF,” a multi-season drama that addressed the early Detroit years in its first season. The limited event series will cover the full arc of the BMF story, from the Flenory family’s rise in the early ’80s in Detroit, through the peak years during the late 90’s and early aughts, to the end of their reign in 2006, up to present day.

“The BMF Documentary: Blowing Money Fast” premieres Sunday, October 23 at midnight on the STARZ app, all STARZ streaming and on-demand platforms, and internationally on the STARZPLAY premium streaming platform across its footprint in Europe and Latin America. On linear, it will debut on STARZ at 10:00 PM ET/PT in the U.S. and Canada.

“The BMF Documentary: Blowing Money Fast” is a limited event, half-hour episodic documentary series about the infamous Black Mafia Family, as told by former members, insiders, associates, and celebrity figures close to the family. From Detroit corner boys, to notorious drug kingpins, and hip hop kingmakers, the eight-part docuseries will chart the meteoric rise and fall of BMF founders: Demetrius “Big Meech” and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory, two brothers who built one of the largest cocaine empires in American history. The fabled story spans four decades across five major U.S. cities, immersing viewers in a network of crisscrossing relationships between crime, hip hop, and law enforcement. The series affords viewers exclusive access inside all the epic family feuds, high stakes drug deals, suspicious murders, and champagne drenched parties attended by hip-hop royalty.

The docuseries features exclusive access to the Flenory Brothers and former BMF members, while journalists and consultants close to the key players provide the production authenticity, historical, and cultural context. Additionally, the series will feature exclusive interviews, never-before-seen archival footage, original vérité footage, celebrity interviews, and original impressionistic imagery inspired by first-hand accounts.

The eight-episode series is executive produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson (“BMF,” “Power” Universe) and Shan Nicholson (“Jerusalem: City of Faith and Fury” and Rubble Kings) who will also serve as the series’ showrunner. The series will be directed by Nicholson and Chris Frierson (The King, Don’t Try to Understand: A Year in the Life of Earl ‘DMX’ Simmons). Additional executive producers include Richard Perello and Stacey Offman, co-executive producers Brad Hebert and Isaac Bolden, and senior producer Jessica Vale. Santa Monica, Calif. – STARZ sets a November 6th premiere date for its new drama series “Dangerous Liaisons” and reveals a teaser and first look images of the beautifully reimagined take on the 18th century novel of the same name, it was announced today from its 2022 Summer Television Critics Association presentation. “Dangerous Liaisons” tells the classic, epic story of Merteuil and Valmont in a fresh way, showing how they began as young lovers in the slums of Paris and rose to the heights of French aristocracy through a series of schemes, manipulations and betrayals, eternally oscillating between love and war.

New episodes will be available weekly on Sundays at midnight on the STARZ app, all STARZ streaming and on-demand platforms and internationally on the STARZPLAY premium streaming platform across its complete footprint in Europe, Latin America and Japan. On linear, it will debut on STARZ at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on November 6th in the U.S. and Canada. “Dangerous Liaisons” is a bold prelude of Laclos’ classic 18th century novel focusing on the origin story of how his iconic characters, the Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont, met as passionate young lovers in Paris on the eve of the revolution. This modern take on a classic story takes audiences through wonder and terror, beauty and degradation, seduction and deception in pre-revolutionary Paris. Driven to right the wrongs of their past, the young couple’s survival depends on their skills of seduction and manipulation of not only the French nobility but of each other. Alice Englert and Nicholas Denton portray the notorious lovers: Camille who is taken in by the current Marquise de Merteuil (played by Lesley Manville) navigates her own path in a world of men, using the power of secrets to take back control, and Valmont who will stop at nothing to regain his title that was recently taken from him. Their on-again off-again love story is the heart of the series. It’s not love… it’s war.

The first look images feature Englert, Denton and Manville in their respective roles, along with Kosar Ali, who plays Victoire, Camille’s best friend and partner in crime, and Carice Van Houten, (“Game of Thrones”) who plays Jacqueline de Montrachet, a pious noblewoman with a mysterious connection to Camille.

The comedy will also be executive produced by Justin Simien (Dear White People, Bad Hair) through his production company Culture Machine and Leann Bowen (“Ted Lasso,” “Dear White People”) who will serve as showrunner and executive producer on the scripted series.

About Steven J. Kung

The son of Taiwanese immigrants, Steven J. Kung is a writer-director who wrote on “Dear White People” and directed on the sixth season of “Fresh Off the Boat.” He’s been telling POC, queer and female-forward stories for his entire career, most notably with A Leading Man, his feature film about anti-Asian racism in the entertainment industry which led Mic to proclaim him as one of Six Filmmakers Breaking the Bamboo Ceiling. He is currently a director in the Paramount Directing Initiative.

Kung also wrote the episode “Koreatown” for the HereTV anthology series “Falling for Angels.” A dual director and UPM member of the Directors Guild of America, he produced Ernest Borgnine’s final movie, The Man Who Shook the Hand of Vicente Fernández.

Kung graduated from the Disney ABC Directing Program and the DGA Mentorship Program. He serves as co-chair emeritus of the DGA Asian American Committee, a board member of the Virginia Film Festival, and co-founder of the DGA LGBTQ+ Committee. A native of Virginia Beach, he holds an MFA from the USC School of Cinematic Arts and a BA with High Distinction in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia.

About Justin Simien

Justin Simien is an award-winning writer, director and producer. In 2014, he made his feature film directorial debut with the critically acclaimed Dear White People which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. The film won the Special Jury Award for Breakthrough Talent and was picked up by Lionsgate/Roadside Attractions.

After the theatrical release of Dear White People, Simien then adapted the film into a critically acclaimed Netflix series of the same name. Simien served as the show’s head writer and directed several episodes throughout its four-season run. Both the film and the series follow the lives of a group of black college students attending a predominantly white and fictionalized Ivy League School and tackles issues of racial tensions, identity, gender, sexuality and class in the modern era.

Simien returned to Sundance in 2020 with the world premiere of his second feature film, Bad Hair. Hulu acquired the horror satire, which drove a record number of subscriber sign-ups for the streamer during its “Hulu-ween” roll out.

Simien’s upcoming third feature film is the highly anticipated Disney’s Haunted Mansion which is set for a theatrical release on March 10, 2023. Based on the theme park ride of the same name, the film stars Owen Wilson, Tiffany Haddish, LaKeith Stanfield, Rosario Dawson and Danny DeVito.

Simien is currently executive producing a slate of TV projects through his production company, Culture Machine, and recently began an overall deal with Paramount TV. Under the deal, Simien and his Culture Machine banner will develop premium television series for the studio for broadcast, cable, and streaming platforms.

About Leann Bowen

Leann Bowen is a Filipino African American comedy writer from Los Angeles. A WGA award winner and Emmy nominated writer, she recently wrote on all three seasons of Apple’s breakout hit TED LASSO and GUILTY PARTY for Paramount+.

She got her start in sketch comedy and improv at the Upright Citizens Brigade and moved her talents online writing and directing for sites like Funny or Die and CollegeHumor. She wrote for all four seasons of Netflix’s “Dear White People” and wrote for the Emmy nominated “I Love You America,” with Sarah Silverman on Hulu.

She continues to produce and write comedy with an edge toward stories of black and Asian culture and the uniquely POC American experience.

Santa Monica, Calif. – August 9, 2022 – STARZ announced today it is in development on “Book of Marlon,” a comedy inspired by actor-comedian Marlon Wayans’ life and career. Wayans will portray himself in the lead role and will also co-write and executive produce.

In the half-hour project, Wayans will play a fictionalized version of himself, exploring his professional life as a comedian and actor, as well as his personal life as he attempts to reconcile being a good person and loving father with being Marlon.

Wayans signed an overall deal with HBO Max performing a standup special and hosting a multi-act special. This resulted in his specials, MARLON WAYANS: YOU KNOW WHAT IT IS and MARLON WAYANS PRESENTS: THE HEADLINERS, which are currently streaming on the service.

Wayans starred in the Netflix movie SEXTUPLETS which tells the story of Alan (Wayans), a man embarking on a personal journey to meet his birth mother before the arrival of his first child. When Alan meets his brother, Russell, he discovers that he was born a sextuplet and decides to seek out his four other siblings (all played by Marlon). Together, the two brothers set out on a road trip to track down the rest of the family that they’ve never known.

Wayans starred for two seasons on the NBC sitcom “Marlon.” Loosely based on his life, “Marlon” is a family comedy centered around a loving (but immature) father committed to co-parenting his two kids with his very-together ex-wife, played by Essence Atkins. Both seasons of “Marlon” are currently airing on Netflix.

Marlon starred in the hit Netflix movie NAKED which premiered in 2017. Based on the Swedish film, NAKEN, the romantic comedy co-stars Regina Hall and reunites Wayans with director Michael Tiddes. Marlon, who is also a writer and producer on the film, stars as Rob Anderson, a charming man-child, who wakes up on his wedding day, naked in an elevator, reliving the hour before the ceremony over and over again. He starred in FIFTY SHADES OF BLACK, which he also wrote and executive-produced, in January 2016. Directed by Michael Tiddes, the film co-starred Mike Epps and Kali Hawk.

In 2014, Wayans starred in the Open Road Films comedy A HAUNTED HOUSE 2, the sequel to the hilarious and successful film, A HAUNTED HOUSE, which had a budget of $1.7 million and grossed $65 million globally. Wayans produced both films.

On the small screen, Wayans hosted the hit NBC show “I Can Do That!,” a comedy/variety series where six celebrities are asked to put on an entertainment show with skills they didn’t even know they had. He also starred in and created the TBS hit comedy competition series “Funniest Wins.” In 2014, he embarked on a national comedy tour with his brothers Keenan, Damon and Shawn Wayans. This marked the first standup tour for the four Wayans Brothers.

Wayans is commonly recognized for his role as ‘Marcus Copeland’ in Columbia Pictures’ 2004 hit comedy WHITE CHICKS, opposite Shawn Wayans, Jamie King and Terry Crews. The film was directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans and grossed $69 million in the United States. He also starred alongside Shawn Wayans and Regina Hall in Dimension Films’ horror comedy spoof films SCARY MOVIE and SCARY MOVIE 2, directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans.

He has appeared on several popular television programs, including Fox’s “In Living Color,” Adult Swim’s “Childrens Hospital,” and BET’s “Second Generation Wayans.” Wayans is repped by WME, 3 Arts and Morris Yorn.
