BURBANK, Calif.-July 20, 2021-Nickelodeon’s fin-credible world of Baby Shark is getting bigger with the development of a brand-new original animated movie and season two pickup of its TV series–further expanding one of the most popular properties in the world. The as-yet-untitled movie will be co-produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio and SmartStudy, the global entertainment company behind the beloved children’s brand Pinkfong. The news of the movie comes as Nick orders a second season of its hit animated preschool series based on the global hit Pinkfong Baby Shark, Baby Shark’s Big Show!, which was just nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in the category of “Outstanding Casting for a Daytime Animated Program” and currently ranks as the number-two show with Kids 2-5 for 2Q21 across all TV, only behind PAW Patrol.

Said Ramsey Naito, President, Nickelodeon Animation: “Baby Shark is an example of how we’ve been successful in bringing beloved properties that kids love from other platforms to Nickelodeon and opening up a whole new world of adventures. As home to the biggest franchises kids love, we’re continuing to grow their footprint by introducing brand-new characters and storylines, and creating original content in every format for fans everywhere.”

Season two of Baby Shark’s Big Show! (26 half-hour episodes) will be packed to the gills with off-the-hook adventures and catchy songs as Baby Shark and William dive deeper into the diverse underwater world of Carnivore Cove with their friends and family. They’ll explore jaw-dropping new locations while making fresh friends and big waves, all in the sharky spirit of fin-clusivity. New episodes of Baby Shark’s Big Show! will air regularly throughout the summer on Fridays at 12:30 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon. Internationally, Baby Shark’s Big Show! will continue airing across Nickelodeon branded channels and platforms through the remainder of the year.

Baby Shark’s Big Show! features a swim-sational lineup of voice actors: Kimiko Glenn (Orange is the New Black), as Baby Shark; Luke Youngblood (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone), as William; Natasha Rothwell (Insecure), as Mommy Shark; Eric Edelstein (We Bare Bears), as Daddy Shark; Debra Wilson (MADtv), as Grandma Shark; and Patrick Warburton (Seinfeld), as Grandpa Shark.

Pinkfong Baby Shark launched on YouTube in November 2015 and took the world by storm, amassing 8.9 billion views and becoming the most-watched video in the platform’s history. With music, characters, story and dance all combined together, the song certified RIAA Diamond and 11x platinum single for selling over 11 million units in the U.S., and spawned a viral phenomenon #BabySharkChallenge, generating over one million cover videos around the globe.

ViacomCBS is working with SmartStudy/Pinkfong to extend the reach of the franchise globally, through original programming including Baby Shark’s Big Show! and consumer products across a wide range of categories including apparel, home, food & beverage, health & beauty, social expressions and toy. ViacomCBS Consumer Products (VCP) manages consumer products licensing worldwide, excluding China, Korea and Southeast Asia, for the Pinkfong Baby Shark property. New Baby Shark products are currently available on Amazon and will be rolling out across all retailers in the U.S. next month, as well as internationally beginning this fall.

Baby Shark’s Big Show! is executive produced by Gary “Doodles” DiRaffaele (Breadwinners) and Tommy Sica (Breadwinners), with Whitney Ralls (My Little Pony: Equestria Girls) serving as co-executive producer. The series is produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio in Burbank, Calif., with production overseen by Eryk Casemiro, Senior Vice President, Nickelodeon Preschool.

HOLLYWOOD, Calif.–July 16, 2021–TIME, TIME for Kids and Nickelodeon today announced that the search has begun for the second annual Kid of the Year, a multiplatform honor recognizing extraordinary young leaders who are making amazing and admirable contributions in a range of fields, including social justice, science, education and more. The Daytime Emmy(R) Award-nominated Kid of the Year TV special, produced by TIME Studios, will return on Nickelodeon in early 2022 to spotlight the top finalists from the search.

Nickelodeon’s TV special–executive produced by Trevor Noah (The Daily Show with Trevor Noah), who also served as host last year–will highlight five honorees, with one outstanding kid ultimately being recognized as TIME Kid of the Year, and featured on the cover of TIME and in additional coverage in TIME For Kids.

Now through Aug. 31, parents, teachers and friends can nominate a kid (aged 8-16) who is creating, standing up and helping to make the world a better place. Each of the finalists will receive funds to further their respective causes and serve as a TIME For Kids Kid Reporter, with exclusive access to a Nickelodeon event. For official submission rules and additional information about the initiative, visit NickKidoftheYear.com.

Following a nationwide search, last year’s initiative saw over 5,000 submissions, with 15-year-old Gitanjali Rao, who uses technology to tackle issues ranging from contaminated drinking water to opioid addiction and cyberbullying, chosen as TIME’s 2020 Kid of the Year. Finalists included Rebekah Bruesehoff, a transgender activist working with LGBTQ youth, Hannah Jackson, a criminal justice reform advocate, Jordan Reeves, an advocate for those with physical disabilities, and Elijah Lee, a child abuse and social justice activist.

“The Kid of the Year recognition has helped me amplify my voice and gave me a global platform to share the need for innovation,” says Rao. “The entire process of selecting the honorees highlighted optimism, kindness, positivity, and shared the work of our generation. Each of us has different talents and we try to light up the community with whatever we can, and Kid of the Year showcases that talent and our ability to make a difference no matter how small it is.”

Marking Nickelodeon’s first original animated series in five years, Middlemost Post hails from SpongeBob SquarePants’ alum John Trabbic III and follows a former rain cloud, a brawny mailman and their magical pet walrus as they deliver packages to the unusual inhabitants of Mount Middlemost. In the debut episode, “First Delivery,” while delivering a letter to a house that never gets mail, the gang goes through warfare to get to its front door. Next in “Chore or Less,” in an attempt to be more like Angus, Parker does the chores and realizes that they’re actually boring.

The Middlemost Post voice cast includes Becky Robinson (Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts) as Parker J. Cloud, an exuberant, relentlessly kind, overly eager, and most of all, pliable cloud who’s desire is to spread cheer; John DiMaggio (Futurama) as Angus Roy Shackelton, Parker’s boss and proprietor of the Middlemost Post; Kiren (Raising Hope) as Lily, Parker’s best friend and master inventor; Colton Dunn (Superstore) as Mayor Peeve, the petty Mayor of the city of Somewhere locked in a petty, one-sided feud with Angus; and Johnny Pemberton (In the Loop) as Ryan, Mayor Peeve’s loyal assistant.

Middlemost Post is created and co-executive produced by John Trabbic III. Dave Johnson serves as co-executive producer and story editor for Middlemost Post, with production overseen by Kelley Gardner, Vice President, Current Series, Animation, Nickelodeon.

Since its launch July 17, 1999, SpongeBob SquarePants has reigned as the number-one animated series on TV for the last 18 years, while generating a universe of beloved characters, pop culture catchphrases and memes, theatrical releases, consumer products, a Tony Award(R)-winning Broadway musical and a global fan base. SpongeBob SquarePants is the most widely distributed property in ViacomCBS Networks International history, seen in more than 170 countries and territories, translated in 30+ languages, and averaging more than 100 million total viewers every month. SpongeBob SquarePants was created by Stephen Hillenburg and produced by Nickelodeon in Burbank. The character-driven cartoon chronicles the nautical and sometimes nonsensical adventures of SpongeBob, an incurable optimist and earnest sea sponge, and his undersea friends.

J BALVIN, SAMANTHA BEE, PADMA LAKSHMI, NANCY PELOSI AND BEN SIMMONS JOIN NICKELODEON’S “NICK NEWS: KIDS, IMMIGRATION AND EQUALITY,” PREMIERING THURSDAY JUNE 17, AT 7:30 P.M. ET/PT

HOLLYWOOD, Calif.-June 11, 2021-Nickelodeon will debut a brand-new installment of its renowned Nick News series, Nick News: Kids, Immigration and Equality, on Thursday, June 17, at 7:30 p.m. (ET/PT). Featuring appearances by J Balvin, Samantha Bee, Padma Lakshmi, Nancy Pelosi and Ben Simmons, among others, the special delves into some of the compelling stories of young people and families whose determination and perseverance in search of a better life represent the ideals that have shaped America into a diverse and dynamic country.

Hosted by CBS News correspondent Jamie Yuccas, the half-hour special also showcases the personal immigration stories and messages of hope from a roster of celebrities, including: Grammy Award-winning recording artist J Balvin, comedian and television host Samantha Bee, television host and advocate Padma Lakshmi, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi and Philadelphia 76ers Guard-Forward Ben Simmons.

“Every immigrant’s story is individual, and yet in the U.S, it is a collective experience many can relate to. In fact, over 25% of kids in the U.S. under the age of 18 have a parent or grandparent that is an immigrant,” said Magalie Laguerre-Wilkinson, Vice President of News Programming, Nickelodeon and Executive Producer of Nick News. “As we take time to acknowledge the many contributions immigrants have made to the United States, Nick News: Kids, Immigration and Equality aims to platform the stories of these remarkable individuals and families to highlight our shared history and showcase that despite our perceived differences we are more alike than different.”

Nick News: Kids, Immigration and Equality begins with the story of early immigration in America, detailing the hope for a better life that drove many families to permanently settle in the U.S. The episode also delves into current immigration topics explaining who “Dreamers” are and what the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) is. The segment focuses on the powerful stories of three young community advocates, Luz Chavez-Gonzales of Gaithersburg, Md., Kamau Chege of Seattle, Wash., and Estefany Pineda of East Boston, Mass., who have persevered in search of ‘The American Dream.’

Enrique Acevedo, 60 Minutes+ correspondent, will also take viewers to Hazleton, Pa., a town that over 100 years ago welcomed the European immigrants that fueled its coal mining industry and then faced challenges when some members of the community took issue with and sought to stop Latino immigrants moving to the area in the late 1990s. However, Joe Maddon Jr., Manager of the Los Angeles Angels, a Hazleton native, sought to turn the page on the divisiveness that overtook his community and help his town heal through the creation of the Hazleton Integration Project (HIP), a community-based center that aims to unite the multicultural residents of Hazleton by offering a myriad of programs, including English as a second language, a series of virtual STEM afterschool classes, sports programs and many others. The organization’s programs are highlighted through the stories of five kids whose families have emigrated to Hazleton from the Dominican Republic and who have found much needed resources and a sense of community at HIP.

Additional segments include: a mention about former President George W. Bush’s new book, “Out of Many, One: Portraits of America’s Immigrants,” which is a collection of 43 portraits of immigrants painted by Bush. It highlights the inspiring journeys of America’s immigrants and their contributions to THIS nation; and Time for Kids reporter, Rory Hu is back and tests viewers’ knowledge of civics with questions that all immigrants must answer when taking the test to become a United States citizen. The Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, chimes in to answer the question ‘Who would assume control of the country if the President and Vice President of the United States are unable to serve?’

Following the premiere on Nickelodeon, Nick News: Kids Immigration and Equality will be available on Nick.com, Nick App and Nick On Demand beginning June 18 and on the Nickelodeon YouTube channel on June 22.

Nickelodeon’s Nick News has won 10 Emmys, a Peabody, a Columbia DuPont, and the prestigious Edward R. Murrow award for Journalistic Excellence, the first and only time it was given to a children’s program. The show originally aired for 25 years, ending with the retirement of creator and original host Linda Ellerbee in 2016. Created with a core ethos of respecting its kid audience, the show explained world events in a direct way, especially the tough stuff – including 9/11, The Iraqi Invasion, politics, HIV-AIDS and Hurricane Katrina – and always ensured kids were given a platform to voice their opinions and a safe place to question their world. Nick News made its return last June with a special hour-long presentation Kids, Race and Unity: A Nick News Special, hosted by global superstar Alicia Keys, followed by Nick News: Kids Pick the President, hosted by entertainment powerhouse Keke Palmer, which aired in November. Nick News is executive produced by Magalie Laguerre-Wilkinson, Vice President of News Programming, Nickelodeon and Executive Producer of Nick News.

NOGGIN, NICKELODEON’S INTERACTIVE LEARNING SERVICE FOR PRESCHOOLERS, DEBUTS NEW ANIMATED SERIES FROM BBC CHILDREN’S PRODUCTIONS, “JOJO & GRAN GRAN,” ON MONDAY, JUNE 14

Noggin, Nickelodeon’s interactive learning service for preschoolers, will debut a new animated series from BBC Studios about an almost five-year-old girl and her grandmother, JoJo & Gran Gran, on Monday, June 14. Following JoJo and her wise grandmother, Gran Gran, in a bustling London neighborhood as they spend time together, the premiere marks the U.S. launch of the series (44 x 11-min eps) developed and produced by BBC Children’s Productions. Nickelodeon has acquired seasons one and two of JoJo & Gran Gran for the U.S. and episodes will continue to roll out on Noggin later this year. BBC Studios is distributing internationally.

“We are thrilled to welcome JoJo & Gran Gran to Noggin and to share this charming and authentic multigenerational series that complements our expanding content slate, and also aligns with our ‘Big Heart World’ approach to learning,” said Layla Lewis, Senior Vice President, Global Acquisitions and Content Partnerships, ViacomCBS International Media Networks.

JoJo & Gran Gran tells the story about an amazing relationship between a little girl and her loving grandmother, exploring themes that can feel quite abstract to most children such as topics of life cycles, passing of time, and growth. The series teaches children to be open, tolerant, respectful of others and empathetic, which is becoming even more important in today’s diverse world.

A sneak peek of JoJo & Gran Gran, “It’s Time to Build a Sandcastle,” will premiere on Friday, June 11, at 7:30 a.m. (ET/PT) in the brand-new weekly Noggin programming hour on the Nick Jr. channel, which features content available on Noggin such as Kinderwood, Noggin Knows, educational short-form videos and more. In the episode, JoJo and Gran Gran are on a trip to the sunny seaside with a mission to build the biggest sandcastle for her favorite toy, Panda, to play inside.

JoJo & Gran Gran aligns with Noggin’s “Big Heart World” educational approach which focuses on building preschoolers’ emotional knowledge and awareness, as each episode of the series aims to reflect kids’ lives while being culturally specific and inspire real-world discovery and play. JoJo & Gran Gran is the latest addition to Noggin’s content slate which includes the recently launched series Rhymes Through Times, Noggin Knows, Kinderwood, School of Yum, Word Play and Imagination Trips, among others.

In Noggin, learning is led by the Nickelodeon preschool characters kids know and love, and developed by education and child development experts. Noggin offers an ever-expanding library of books, learning games, activities, exclusive shorts and 1,000+ ad-free episodes of preschool favorites like PAW Patrol, Peppa Pig and Blue’s Clues & You! With Noggin, kids can go on fun learning adventures that explore science, literacy, math, music and more.
