INVESTIGATION DISCOVERY ANNOUNCES ARREST OF A CONVICTED MURDERER ON THE RUN

INVESTIGATION DISCOVERY ANNOUNCES ARREST OF A CONVICTED MURDERER ON THE RUN THANKS TO TIP FROM THE “IN PURSUIT WITH JOHN WALSH” HOTLINE

— U.S. Marshals Arrested Maurice Nesbitt in Alabama This Morning, Marking the 25th Fugitive Featured on IN PURSUIT to be Captured —

(Silver Spring, Md.)—Today, the U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force announced the capture of Maurice Nesbitt, who has been on the run since 2017 after being found guilty for the murder of his estranged girlfriend, Rashawn Jackson. Nesbitt was out on bond when he cut off his ankle monitor and fled on the last day of the trial. He was profiled in season one of IN PURSUIT WITH JOHN WALSH in January 2019, and last Sunday was profiled on the show’s Facebook page to help drive additional awareness. A brave tipster contacted the IN PURSUIT hotline with specific information on where Nesbitt was hiding out in Alabama, and early this morning, the U.S. Marshals made the arrest.

Now filming its third season, IN PURSUIT WITH JOHN WALSH merges legendary victims advocate John Walsh with the #1 true crime channel, Investigation Discovery, on their joint mission to track down fugitives on the run and find missing children. The first two seasons are available to view at discovery+, the definitive nonfiction streaming service now available from Discovery Inc.

“Thanks to a direct tip from a brave tipster into the IN PURSUIT hotline and our great partners at the U.S. Marshals, a convicted murderer is now off the streets,” said host and executive producer, John Walsh. “When I make a promise to you that we’re listening, I mean it. Our lines are always open, and I promise, you can always remain anonymous. So, don’t hesitate. If you know something – or think you know something – make that call.”

In each episode of IN PURSUIT, John Walsh leads viewers through unsolved violent crimes that urgently need to be closed – where time is of the essence and vigilant viewers could bring these criminals to justice. Joining John in every episode is his son, Callahan Walsh, who leads the operation on the ground, working in tandem with the community and local authorities to search for persons-of-interest. In partnership with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), the series also features two missing children each hour, providing age-progression photos and descriptions in the hopes that viewers can provide new leads to their whereabouts.

Investigation Discovery taps into its uniquely engaged audience to help track down these persons of interest and find missing children. The show utilizes an always active call center at 1-833-3-PURSUE and dedicated online hub at InPursuitTips.com, both staffed by trained English and Spanish-speaking operators who accept anonymous tips and alert the proper authorities. To engage with the show, viewers are encouraged to connect using the hashtag #TeamInPursuit, join the IN PURSUIT WITH JOHN WALSH Facebook page at Facebook.com/InPursuitwithJohnWalsh, and connect on Instagram @InvestigationDiscovery or Twitter @DiscoveryID.

CALLAHAN WALSH HEADLINES NEW “IN PURSUIT” SPIN-OFF WITH A SPECIAL HIGHLIGHTING MISSING PERSONS CASES

— IN PURSUIT: THE MISSING Debuts on discovery+ and ID; Special Airs in Advance of a New Season of IN PURSUIT WITH JOHN WALSH Coming Later This Year —

(New York, NY) – With the acute understanding of someone whose family has been through the unimaginable experience of losing a child, Callahan Walsh hosts an hour-long special spotlighting missing persons cases with IN PURSUIT: THE MISSING. As a spokesperson and child advocate for the National Center for the Missing & Exploited Children, Callahan brings his passion, empathy, and determination to actively investigate two mysterious disappearances, and provide an outlet to the families desperate for answers. The special also showcases missing children cases from around the country, each with a ticking clock, unanswered questions, and an urgent need to activate the public to come forward with tips or information that might help bring these missing persons home to their loved ones. IN PURSUIT: THE MISSING will stream on discovery+ beginning on Sunday, March 7, and will premiere on Investigation Discovery on Monday, March 8 at 9pm ET. IN PURSUIT WITH JOHN WALSH, which Callahan co-hosts alongside his legendary crime fighting and fugitive-catching father, John Walsh, returns later this year.

In the first featured story, Callahan travels to the picturesque town of Cape Coral, Florida to learn more about the disappearance of 29-year-old single mother, Lauren Dumolo, who was reported missing on June 19, 2020. In his quest to bring Lauren home, Callahan uncovers dark secrets and learns that certain people in Lauren’s life might not have had her best interest at heart. Then, Callahan travels across the state to Ft. Lauderdale and immerses himself in the 2017 missing persons case of then 15-year-old Sophie Reeder, who snuck out from her father’s home in the late evening hours on Friday, May 19. When his investigation takes a turn into the shadowy world of the dark web, Callahan takes a deeper dive into the epidemic of human trafficking, and uncovers clues that Sophie might have fallen in the hands of those who perhaps groomed and targeted her.

In both cases, few clues are left behind, leaving Callahan to conduct boots-on-the-ground investigations into these disappearances. Speaking with law enforcement and the victim’s family to understand the circumstances surrounding the fateful day they were last seen, Callahan works to reveal any leads or information that have been unearthed since they’ve been gone and asks viewers to call if they have information on the cases.

IN PURSUIT: THE MISSING also spotlights missing children cases from around the country, including: the July 10 disappearance of 10-year-old Breasia Terrell from Davenport, Iowa; the August 4 disappearance of 12-year-old Jaylen Griffin from Buffalo, New York; the May, 2019 disappearance of then-16-year-old John Riser from Washtoukna, Washington; and the 2015 disappearance of then 15-year-old Ava Baldwin from San Antonio, Texas, which includes an age-progression photo provided by NCMEC to help guide the public on what she might look like now that she’s 11.

Anyone with information in any of the featured cases is encouraged to text or call our hotline at 833-3-PURSUE, or submit tips online at InPursuitTips.com. All calls can remain confidential.

About Callahan Walsh:

Callahan Walsh is a child advocate for the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC). ID REVEALS THE NETWORK OF PEDOPHILES THAT CONNECTS TWO DERANGED SERIAL KILLERS IN A NEW PODCAST

ID REVEALS THE NETWORK OF PEDOPHILES THAT CONNECTS TWO DERANGED SERIAL KILLERS IN A NEW PODCAST AND SERIES THE CLOWN AND THE CANDYMAN

— Disturbing and Complex Story Begins with a Podcast Releasing Today, and Continues with Four-Part Special Airing on ID on January 18 and 19 —

(Silver Spring, Md.) – ID is readying an explosive exposé into a conspiracy of networks of men preying on children in the 1970s, a decade when pedophiles and child killers could hide in plain sight and tragically get away with murder. Connecting the murders of John Wayne Gacy in Chicago with the Houston Mass Murders by Dean Corll, THE CLOWN AND THE CANDYMAN traces a path through the past to expose how this dark web was able to exploit America’s youth, and the legacy of pain it left behind.

The 1970s saw a rise in serial killers unlike anything the United States had previously seen. Two of the killers operating during this time were John Wayne Gacy in Chicago and Dean Corll in Houston. Gacy often performed as a clown for hospitals and charity events and became known as “The Killer Clown,” while Corll, whose family owned a factory, often gave away candy to kids in the neighborhood which earned him the nickname “The Candyman.” Gacy and Corll were far more sinister than their outward facing personas, and their depraved actions resulted in the deaths of more than 60 young men and women and brought heartbreak to countless families, with some of their victims still unidentified to this day. The police believed the murders were the work of sole killers, but for the first time, the sordid secret revealing the network of pedophiles spanning the country is explored. This network included prominent members of American society with tentacles in some of our most trusted institutions.

In the eight-episode podcast THE CLOWN AND THE CANDYMAN, journalist and television producer Jacqueline Bynon investigates this pedophile network that exploited children across the U.S. It is a story of secrets, coverups, and conspiracies that extended to other high-profile cases at the time. The podcast features interviews from police who investigated these predators, the reporters who exposed them, and the families of victims still reeling from their loss. Bynon peels back the layers of the past to investigate and illuminate the networks that allowed these killers to thrive. Two episodes of THE CLOWN AND THE CANDYMAN drop today, and new episodes release weekly on Tuesdays. The podcast is available now on Apple, Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts. Listener discretion is advised.

Premiering next month, the four-part companion special THE CLOWN AND THE CANDYMAN takes viewers down the rabbit hole to a murky world of predators in the ‘70s. Centered around the evil of Gacy and Corll, the special offers a deep dive into their crimes, how they were discovered, and the race to identify their remaining nameless victims. The special also investigates their connections to John David Norman, the key operator of a nationwide pedophile ring, while never-before-heard tapes of Gacy offers viewers a glimpse into the disturbed man and his hideous actions. The documentary THE CLOWN AND THE CANDYMAN premieres on ID on Monday, January 18 and Tuesday, January 19 from 9-11pm, with the entire four-part special available to stream on discovery+ beginning January 18. Viewer discretion is advised.

THE CLOWN AND THE CANDYMAN is produced by Cineflix (Candyman) Inc. for Investigation Discovery. Jacqueline Bynon and Charles Tremayne are the executive producers and Kim Bondi serves as the producer for Cineflix. Tim Baney is the executive producer for ID.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE CHILDREN? INVESTIGATION DISCOVERY EXAMINES THE CASE AGAINST LORI VALLOW IN “DOOMSDAY: THE MISSING CHILDREN”

– Three-Hour Event begins Sunday, December 20 at 9/8c –

-Available to stream on discovery+ beginning January 4-

(Silver Spring, Md.) – The world was captivated in the autumn of 2019, when the news first broke of the disappearance of 7-year-old JJ Vallow and his stepsister, 17-year-old Tylee Ryan, from their home in Rexburg, Idaho. As months passed, with no answers or clues to their whereabouts, police and family looked to their mother, 46-year-old Lori Vallow, for an explanation. Ten months later, in June 2020, a shocking discovery was made on the rural Idaho farm of Vallow’s husband, Chad Daybell, leaving their friends, family, law enforcement -and the world – to wonder, what happened to JJ and Tylee?

For the first time ever, America’s number one destination in true crime takes a deeper look into the events that led up to these disappearances through the eyes of the grandparents who desperately prayed for their return. DOOMSDAY: THE MISSING CHILDREN is a three-hour event premiering on Sunday, December 20 at 9/8c only on Investigation Discovery.

ID exclusively follows JJ and Tylee’s grandparents, Larry and Kay Woodcock on their journey to find the truth. As they travel the country, they gather information from local law enforcement, and concerned friends to create a timeline for the children’s legal guardian, Lori Vallow. What they uncover during their investigation is a story too strange to be real. Viewers will join the investigation examining allegations into Lori’s religious beliefs, including allegations that Vallow believed she was immortal, and her children had been replaced by zombies. According to friends and family, Vallow adhered to the belief that the destruction of mankind was imminent, which could potentially explain the bizarre behavior of Lori and her husband leading up to the discovery of the children. This three-hour event allows viewers to explore all of this evidence from the disappearance of the children to the dramatic arrest of Lori Vallow and Chad Daybell for concealment of evidence. With the trial of Vallow and Daybell on the horizon for 2021, perhaps the Woodcocks, will finally get the answers they so desperately need.

DOOMSDAY: THE MISSING CHILDREN is produced for Investigation Discovery by Category 6 Media(TM) group with Anne Garofalo Paterno, Tiff Winton and Sharon Scott as Executive Producers. For Investigation Discovery, Pamela Deutsch is Executive Producer, Sara Kozak is Senior Vice President of Production, Kevin Bennett is General Manager, and Henry Schleiff is Group President of Investigation Discovery, Travel Channel, American Heroes Channel and Destination America.
