HBO Sports To Present Michael Strahan-Executive Produced Documentary Series THE COST OF WINNING

Four-Part Series Chronicles The Stunning Success And Controversy Surrounding Baltimore’s St. Frances Academy Football Program

NEW YORK, N.Y. – October 23, 2020 – From executive producers Michael Strahan and Constance Schwartz-Morini comes the four-part documentary series THE COST OF WINNING, the story of the St. Frances Academy Panthers football program in Baltimore, an unlikely and uplifting tale of possibility, perseverance and leadership in the face of adversity. Co-directed by Rob Ford (“Shut Up and Dribble,” “You Ain’t Got These,” “Stephen vs. The Game”) and Maurice Holden (“Tiger at 30”). The first two episodes of THE COST OF WINNING debut TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 10 beginning at 9 p.m. ET/PT, with episodes three and four airing the following evening at the same time.

THE COST OF WINNING will be available on HBO and to stream on HBO Max.

In 2018, a nearly 200-year-old Catholic school, located in the heart of a neighborhood rife with gun violence and grinding socioeconomic challenges, became a source of both immense pride and then searing controversy as the school’s football team, the Panthers, were expelled from their private school league for being “too good” – a turn of events that raised questions of racial bias. Finding themselves without a league in which to play, the team made its own schedule, barnstorming the country in search of top competition and the chance to showcase its players as they strove for athletic scholarships.

“We are excited to bring the inspiring story of Baltimore’s St. Frances Academy to life on HBO, and to showcase the adversity and challenges the Panthers endured to save their program,” said executive producers Michael Strahan and Constance Schwartz-Morini. “Thanks to the perseverance and dedication of the team at SMAC Entertainment, including Ethan Lewis, and Mike Ferry with The Story Lab, the series reveals the power of sports as a unifying force.”

Over the course of four half-hour episodes, THE COST OF WINNING follows the outspoken head coach Biff Poggi, along with highly touted recruits Demon Clowney, Chris Braswell and Jonathan Wallace, among others, as they pursue a national championship and a path to college for their 30 graduating seniors. The series takes viewers behind the scenes with the players and coaching staff of St. Francis Academy as they navigate and overcome challenges ranging from not having their own practice facilities to the relentless horrors of street violence in their Baltimore neighborhood.

A successful investor and long-time coach at rival Gilman School, Poggi arrived at St. Frances Academy and helped turned the once-winless program into a national powerhouse. The Panthers won three consecutive Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association championships before being unceremoniously expelled from the league in 2018. Despite the setback, Panthers seniors ultimately received scholarship offers from some of the top collegiate programs in the country, including LSU, Alabama and Clemson.

Episode 1
Debut Date: TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 10 (9:00-9:30 p.m. ET/PT)
Only one week out from their season-opener in Miami, the Panthers prepare for their grueling upcoming national schedule after being forced out of their local Maryland private-school league for being ‘too good.’ Despite lacking adequate facilities, and conditioning on the Baltimore streets, this small school sets out to do the unthinkable.

Episode 2
Debut Date: TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 10 (9:30-10 p.m. ET/PT)
With Week 2’s home-opener against Chicago Simeon fast approaching, the No. 2-seeded Panthers have one more opportunity to prepare for their upcoming trip to Los Angeles to take on No. 1-seeded Mater Dei in hopes of keeping their national championship dreams alive. As the team prepares for the most important match-up of the season – and possibly their high school careers, the realities of life in Baltimore are constant reminders of what they’re really playing for.

Episode 3
Debut Date: WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 11 (9:00-9:30 p.m. ET/PT)
As the Panthers work to rebuild their bruised team morale from experiencing loss on and off the field, homecoming provides the players with some much-needed support before they take on IMG Academy – another nationally ranked powerhouse – for a chance to redeem their season in one of the biggest football games Baltimore has ever seen.

Episode 4
Debut Date: WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 11 (9:30-10 p.m. ET/PT)
As the final game of the regular season looms, the Panthers’ seniors are struck by the realization that their time at St. Frances is rapidly ending, and major life changes lie ahead. Before National Signing Day, Panthers’ coaches aid in solidifying college plans and help place those still uncommitted, while surprises – some good, some less than – arise for the players.

THE COST OF WINNING is produced by The Story Lab in association with SMAC Entertainment and Valley View Media. Co-directed by Rob Ford and Maurice Holden. Executive producing the series are Michael Strahan, Constance Schwartz-Morini and Ethan Lewis for SMAC Entertainment; Mike Ferry for The Story Lab; and Maurice Holden for Valley View Media. The series was produced in partnership with Gillette Productions.

HBO Max Announces Lead Cast for New Mindy Kaling Comedy “THE SEX LIVES OF COLLEGE GIRLS”

HBO Max Announces Lead Cast for New Mindy Kaling Comedy “THE SEX LIVES OF COLLEGE GIRLS”

Pauline Chalamet, Amrit Kaur, Reneé Rapp, and Alyah Chanelle Scott to Star

THE SEX LIVES OF COLLEGE GIRLS, the upcoming HBO Max comedy series from Emmy®-nominated writer/producer Mindy Kaling has set its lead cast.
Pauline Chalamet (The King of Staten Island), Amrit Kaur (The D Cut, Star Trek: Short Treks, Anarkali), Reneé Rapp (Mean Girls on Broadway), and Alyah Chanelle Scott (The Book of Mormon) are set to star as four roommates randomly assigned to a dorm at Essex College, a prestigious New England university. A bundle of contradictions and hormones, these sexually active college girls are equal parts lovable and infuriating.

Pauline Chalamet will star as Kimberly, the valedictorian of a working-class public high school in a humble Arizona suburb. Smart, caring, earnest, and ambitious, she’s prepared for college academically — but not so much socially.

Amrit Kaur will star as Bela, a comedy-obsessed, super confident cornball from the affluent suburbs of northern New Jersey who is never afraid to say what she’s thinking. She describes herself as “extremely sex-positive” — even though she had sex for the first time 14 days ago.

Reneé Rapp will make her television debut and will star as Leighton, who would describe herself as a normal, classy girl from a great family. Others would describe her as blunt, judgmental, and beyond entitled. Coming from one of the richest (and quietly Republican) families on New York City’s Upper East Side, Leighton is a fourth-generation legacy at Essex.

Alyah Chanelle Scott will also make her television debut and will star as Whitney. Strong and self-assured with a dry sense of humor, Whitney is the soon-to-be star of the Essex soccer team. She is also the only daughter of the most powerful Black senator in the country. The graduate of an elite Los Angeles prep school, Whitney chose an East Coast college to live her most exciting life.

Kaling (The Mindy Project, Late Night, Never Have I Ever, The Office) and showrunner Justin Noble (Never Have I Ever, Brooklyn Nine-Nine) co-wrote the first episode and will executive produce with Howard Klein (The Mindy Project, The Office). The series is produced by Kaling International in association with Warner Bros. Television.
Cast bios and rep info below:
Pauline Chalamet can be seen opposite Pete Davidson in Judd Apatow’s 2020 feature The King of Staten Island, for Universal Pictures. Fluent in English and French, she recently returned to New York City from Paris, where she has been receiving her training from Studio Théâtre d’Asnières. She is fluent in English and French. (Reps: Anonymous Content and Gersh)

Amrit Kaur is perhaps best known for starring in the Emmy-nominated CBS All Access anthology series Star Trek: Short Treks. She can also be seen in Freeform’s The Bold Type, the CBC comedy Kim’s Convenience, and YouTube’s Anarkali. Her most recent credits include the timely Canadian television series The D Cut, inspired by the true story of an iconic queer hair salon fighting to stay open amid neighborhood gentrification, and the upcoming Little Wars, a production of the Toronto, Ontario–based Gracemoon Arts Company, of which she is a member. She is a recent graduate of one of Canada’s top acting programs at York University, and also trains regularly at the Lonsdale Smith & Company Acting Studios. (Reps: Paul Hemrend/Edna Talent Management in Canada, and Craig Dorfman/Frontline Management)

Reneé Rapp made her Broadway debut last year as Regina George in the Tony Award–nominated musical Mean Girls. In 2018, she won a Jimmy Award (National High School Musical Theatre Award) as Best Performance by an Actress for her work in Big Fish at Northwest School of the Arts in Charlotte, North Carolina. The North Carolina native is also a singer/songwriter. (Reps: CESD and One Entertainment)

Alyah Chanelle Scott was most recently seen as Nabulungi in the U.S. national tour of Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s Tony Award–winning musical The Book of Mormon. Her many theatrical credits include The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Pippin, Disaster!, Hairspray, Passing Strange, Violet, Freaky Friday and The Little Mermaid. She graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre. (Reps: Paradigm)

Celebrate CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM’s 20th Anniversary On HBO Max

Celebrate CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM’s 20th Anniversary On HBO Max

Can you believe it’s been 20 years since CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM first aired on HBO on October 15, 2000? It’s been a prett-ay, prett-ay, prett-ay good run so far. Watch every iconic episode and laugh out loud to all your favorite Larry-isms by streaming all ten seasons of Curb Your Enthusiasm on HBO Max.

Originally debuting on HBO in 2000 and presenting 100 episodes to date, the Emmy® and Golden Globe®-winning comedy series stars “Seinfeld” co-creator Larry David as an over-the-top version of himself in an unsparing but tongue-in-cheek depiction of his fictionalized life. The series’ ten-episode tenth season debuted January 19, 2020 with series veterans including Susie Essman (“Broad City”), Jeff Garlin (“The Goldbergs”), Emmy® nominee Cheryl Hines (“Suburgatory”), Richard Lewis (“Anything But Love”), J.B. Smoove (“The Millers”) and Emmy® winner Ted Danson (“The Good Place”). The series has been renewed for an eleventh season.

The comedy series continues to prove how seemingly trivial details of day-to-day life – a cold cup of coffee, a stained shirt, a missing toothbrush – can precipitate a chain of misfortune to hilarious effect. To keep the narrative spontaneous, the series is shot without a script, and cast members are given scene outlines and improvise as they go.

“I’m a lucky man. Not just to be able to do ‘Curb’ for twenty years, but also for my flawless complexion,” shares Larry David.

To kick-off the festivities, HBO has launched a “Cue the Curb” Instagram face filter that slowly zooms into your face as the iconic Curb Your Enthusiasm trombone music starts playing. The filter allows fans to be part of a popular Curb meme and includes a callout to the 20th anniversary. HBO will continue to celebrate the king of social avoidance with a Twitter stunt on October 15 at 2PM ET using #Curb20. When fans tweet @HBO what they are passionate about, @HBO will ask them to curb their enthusiasm.

To top it off, celebrate 20 years of the series starring the one and only Larry David by looking back at all the iconic guest stars that have graced the screen. From Wanda Sykes to David Schwimmer to Shaquille O’Neal, Larry has recruited quite the lineup of stars to make hysterical and memorable cameos over the last 10 seasons.

HBO Max to Be Exclusive Streaming Home For British Dramedy I HATE SUZIE

Max original stars BAFTA nominee and co-creator Billie Piper

Series co-created and written by critically acclaimed Lucy Prebble

LOS ANGELES, CA – OCTOBER 9, 2020 – HBO Max announced today that original dramedy I Hate Suzie will stream exclusively in the U.S. on the platform. The series follows an actress whose life is thrown into turmoil when her phone is hacked and extremely compromising photographs of her are leaked.

I Hate Suzie is co-created by BAFTA nominee Billie Piper (Collateral, Doctor Who), who also leads the cast, and by Emmy(R) winner and critically acclaimed writer of the series Lucy Prebble (Succession, Enron).

I Hate Suzie is a bold, bracing, original dramedy about the moment in life when the mask slips, asking if any of us can survive being well and truly ‘known’. Suzie Pickles (Piper), has her life upended when she is hacked and pictures of her emerge in an extremely compromising position.

The eight-part series shows her unraveling as the event ricochets around every area of her life. Episode by episode, we follow her through the stages of shock, denial, fear, shame, bargaining, guilt, anger and acceptance as Suzie and her best friend and manager Naomi, played by Leila Farzad (Innocent, Twenty Twelve), try to hold her life, career and marriage together.

The cast also includes Daniel Ings (Lovesick, The Crown) and Nathaniel Martello-White (Collateral, Guerilla).

Produced by Bad Wolf Limited and commissioned by Sky Studios for Sky in the UK, the series is co-created, and executive produced by Lucy Prebble and Billie Piper. Julie Gardner and Jane Tranter are Executive Producers, alongside Producer Andrea Dewsbery, all for Bad Wolf. Liz Lewin executive produces for Sky Studios.

International Distribution is handled by NBCUniversal Global Distribution on behalf of Sky Studios.

‘THE POWER OF WE: A SESAME STREET SPECIAL’ Debuts on Thursday, October 15

‘THE POWER OF WE: A SESAME STREET SPECIAL’ Debuts on Thursday, October 15, to Help Children Stand Up to Racism

New special includes celebrity and musical guests Yara Shahidi, Christopher Jackson, and Andra Day

‘The Power of We’ to stream on HBO Max and PBS KIDS and air on PBS stations beginning Thursday, October 15

NEW YORK, NY – Oct. 8, 2020 – Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization behind Sesame Street, will address racism – and model how children can stand up to it – in “The Power of We: A Sesame Street Special.” Designed as a co-viewing experience for children and families, the special will stream on HBO Max and PBS KIDS starting Thursday, October 15, and debut on PBS stations the same day (check local listings). The special will also re-air throughout October and November on PBS stations and the PBS KIDS 24/7 channel (check local listings).

“Sesame Street has the ability to entertain children while explaining complex issues like no other program and equips families and caregivers with the support they need to have empathetic conversations,” said Kay Wilson Stallings, Executive Vice President of Creative and Production at Sesame Workshop. “We believe that this moment calls for a direct discussion about racism to help children grasp the issues and teach them that they are never too young to be ‘upstanders’ for themselves, one another, and their communities.”

“The Power of We” features Elmo and Abby Cadabby, who are joined by 6-year-old Muppet Gabrielle and her cousin, 8-year-old Tamir, as they learn how to become “upstanders” to unfair treatment based on skin – or fur – color.

Current and former Sesame Street human cast members Alan, Charlie, Chris, and Gordon take part in the special alongside celebrity and musical guests Yara Shahidi, Christopher Jackson, and Andra Day. “The Power of We” includes two new songs: “How Do You Know?” and “Listen, Act, Unite!” the latter written and performed by Jackson and featuring Day.

Sesame Workshop has created a companion guide for families and caregivers to use as they discuss the special with children, available at SesameStreet.org/PowerofWe.

Coupled with the recent CNN Town Hall “Coming Together: Standing Up to Racism,” this special expands on Sesame Workshop’s long history of modeling inclusivity in its storylines and diverse cast of Muppets, human cast members, and guest stars. The Workshop will continue to tackle racism and its impact on children through an array of programming and Sesame Street in Communities content for families and caregivers.

KYAC/Warner Bros. Animation Announce Preschool Action-Adventure Comedy Series “Batwheels” in Production for Cartoon Network and HBO Max

(Burbank, CA) – Buckle up and put on your capes! Warner Bros. Animation (WBA) is beginning production on “Batwheels,” a preschool animated action-adventure comedy series starring the most heroic and iconic vehicles from the DC universe. The upcoming series will air on Cartoon Network and HBO Max, as well as globally across all Cartoon Network platforms.

“‘Batwheels’ is the perfect show to headline our new foray into preschool,” said Tom Ascheim, President, Warner Bros. Global Kids, Young Adults and Classics (GKYAC). “I can’t wait for all the aspiring super heroes out there to meet this whole new batch of crime-fighters.”

They are a team of incredible crimefighters who have banded together to oppose evil, combat crime and clean up the streets of Gotham City. They are… okay, they’re NOT Batman and Robin. They’re the Batwheels – an awesome group of sentient super-powered crime-fighting vehicles defending Gotham City alongside Batman, Robin, Batgirl and a host of DC Super Heroes.

Having just been created by the Batcomputer, our heroes are essentially kids with little to no life experience. Led by Bam (The Batmobile), the Batwheels – Bibi (The Batgirl Cycle), Red (The Redbird), Jett (The Batwing) and Buff (The Bat Truck) – must navigate the growing pains of being a newly formed super team as well as the growing pains that come with just being a kid. This relatable and aspirational series will follow the journey of this dynamic team as they thrill and entertain with their heroic adventures as well as demonstrate to kids the value of self-confidence, friendship and teamwork.

Sam Register, President, Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios said: “From ‘Batman: The Animated Series to Teen Titans Go!,’ superhero storytelling has definitely been one of our superpowers here at Warner Bros. Animation. We are so excited to bring that expertise over to the preschool space and take something that all kids love, cool vehicles, and give it a turbo boost with Batman!”

“Batwheels” is produced by Warner Bros. Animation. Sam Register (“Looney Tunes Cartoons”) serves as executive producer. Michael G. Stern (“Doc McStuffins”) serves as co-executive producer, Simon J. Smith (“Baymax Dreams”) is supervising producer and Steven Fink of Bang Zoom Ltd. is producer.
