Play-by-Play Announcer Alex Faust Joined By Analyst Jordan Palmer

TSL Debuts Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 8:00 PM ET on FS1

Los Angeles – Today, FOX Sports announced the broadcast teams for The Spring League on FS1. Play-by-play announcer Alex Faust is joined by analyst Jordan Palmer for the 2020 TSL season. The duo is joined in the booth by FOX Sports’ lead college football analyst Joel Klatt for Week 1 on Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 8:00 PM ET on FS1.

A standout on the gridiron, Palmer played college football at University of Texas at El Paso before being drafted by the Washington Redskins in the sixth round of the 2007 NFL Draft. He spent seven years in the NFL before transitioning into the coaching business. Palmer is one of the top QB “gurus” for NFL prospects, with recent trainees including Joe Burrow, DeShaun Watson, Sam Darnold, and Josh Allen. Palmer has previously served as a college football analyst for FOX Sports, in addition to studio analyst and co-host roles on Stadium and SiriusXM, respectively.

Faust serves as the lead television play-by-play announcer of the Los Angeles Kings, a role he has held since 2017. He also contributes to play-by-play duties across NHL on NBC, as well as on the Tennis Channel. Since 2015 he has worked as a college football and basketball play-by-play announcer for FOX Sports. A graduate of Northeastern University, Faust cut his teeth on the NCAA circuit before serving as a play-by-play announcer for the American Hockey League and Minor League Baseball.

TSL’s 2020 fall season features six teams, competing in a 12-game format spanning four weeks from the Alamodome in San Antonio beginning on Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 8:00 PM ET. The season culminates in a championship matchup the week of Monday, Nov. 23, exact date and time to be announced at a later date.

Los Angeles – Today, FOX Sports announces the schedule for its inaugural season of The Spring League (TSL). The 2020 TSL season will be contested at the Alamodome in San Antonio, beginning with Conquerors vs. Generals on Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 8:00 PM ET on FS1. Seven regular season games air weekday evenings on FS1, culminating in a championship matchup the week of Monday, Nov. 23.

Talented quarterbacks highlight TSL rosters, with sixth round NFL Draft pick and former Tennessee Titans starting QB Zach Mettenberger stepping into the pocket for the Generals. NFL free agents and Big Ten rivals will go head-to-head on the gridiron, with Ohio State’s J.T. Barrett representing the Alphas and Michigan’s Shea Patterson joining the Blues.

Former NFL head coach and one of football’s most interesting minds, Jerry Glanville, joins TSL as head coach of the Conquerors. He will line up against a bevy of talented coaches: HC Bart Andrus/Generals, HC Ted Cotrell/Blues, HC Steve Fairchild/Alphas, HC Terry Shea /Aviators and HC Chuck Bresnahan/Jousters.

FOX Sports Secures Option to Acquire Minority Equity Stake in TSL

Los Angeles – Today, FOX Sports and The Spring League (TSL) announced an extensive, multi-year agreement to televise TSL games beginning Tuesday, Oct. 27. Featuring some of the brightest up-and-coming prospects in the game, TSL football will air weekdays on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings on FS1. As part of the agreement, FOX Sports also secures an option to acquire a minority equity stake in TSL.

TSL’s 2020 fall season features six teams, competing in a 12-game format spanning four weeks from the Alamodome in San Antonio. The season culminates in a championship matchup the week of Monday, Nov. 23, exact date and time to be announced at a later date.

“As we’ve said time and time again, FOX is football. Our plan will be to return to the Spring season in 2021.”

New Agreement Provides NHRA its Biggest Television Platform in the Sport’s History

GLENDORA, Calif. (September 17, 2020) – The National Hot Rod Association and FOX Sports have announced a multi-year extension of their agreement to telecast all NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing series competitions across FOX, FS1 and FS2 well into this decade. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

“FOX is thrilled to extend our relationship with the NHRA as we enhance our coverage for drag racing fans,” said Mark Silverman, President, National Networks, FOX Sports. “The NHRA on FOX has achieved record audiences for the sport, and we look forward to working with the NHRA to continue to expand the audience and grow the sport beyond the middle of this decade.”

The NHRA and FOX relationship began in 2016. The updated deal will see NHRA and FOX Sports continue collaboration in the production and telecasting of NHRA competition in the United States and Canada, including expanded coverage on the FOX broadcast network and FS1, an NFL adjacent event, and five hours of Finals coverage at the NHRA U.S. Nationals over Labor Day Weekend each year.

LOS ANGELES – FOX Sports ushered in its 27th season of NFL coverage Sunday with an average of more than 25 million viewers for AMERICA’S GAME OF THE WEEK (AGOTW), combining with FOX’s best Week 1 regional performance in four years to score the network’s most-watched opening week since 2016.

According to Nielsen Media Research, AGOTW, the No. 1 show on TV for 11 consecutive years, scored the most-watched telecast since Super Bowl LIV on FOX in February. The game, pitting Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers against Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints in Brady’s debut as a Buc, drew an average audience of 25,848,000, up +7% over last year’s Week 1 performance of 24,216,000 viewers.

FOX’s regional games posted their best Week 1 performance since 2016, scoring an average viewership of 13,530,000, up +6% over last year’s 12,723,000 viewers between the Giants and the Cowboys.

“What a way to start the FOX NFL season. Our NFC package is about storied brands and Hall of Fame quarterbacks, and those factors came together to produce a four-year Week 1 high and television’s biggest audience since the Super Bowl,” said FOX Sports’ Mike Mulvihill, Executive Vice President, Strategy & Analytics. “Sports is leading America’s comeback from a challenging summer, and FOX Sports’ powerful fall lineup is just getting started.”

On the streaming side, Week 1 accounted for FOX’s most-streamed NFL regular-season Sunday ever — an +84% increase over last year’s opening Sunday with an average minute audience (AMA) of 592,144 across regional and national windows. AGOTW drew an AMA of 647,000 and 3.5 million unique streamers, leading to the network’s most-streamed NFL regular-season window ever. FOX also set a record for its regional windows, with an AMA of 537,000 and 3.8 million unique streamers.

Former Head Coach Mark Helfrich Returns to FOX Sports as Game Analyst

NEW YORK – Saturdays start on FOX again this fall, led by some of college football’s most exciting, relevant and knowledgeable experts in the booth and at the desk. Gus Johnson, Joel Klatt and Jenny Taft team up for the fourth consecutive year to call the network’s biggest game of the week – BIG NOON SATURDAY sponsored by AT&T Business – at 12:00 PM ET. Today’s announcement was made by Brad Zager, Executive Producer, Executive Vice President/Head of Production and Operations, FOX Sports.

Johnson, Klatt and Taft open the season Saturday, Sept. 12, in Manhattan, Kan., for Arkansas State at K-State, which was moved to 12:00 PM ET on FOX after Louisiana Tech-Baylor was postponed.

Former Oregon head coach Mark Helfrich returns to FOX Sports as a game analyst, having served in the same role for the network during the 2017 season. Helfrich pairs with play-by-play announcer Joe Davis, for Eastern Kentucky at West Virginia on Saturday at 12:00 PM ET on FS1.

Rounding out FOX Sports’ opening weekend of fall college football coverage, longtime broadcast partners Tim Brando and Spencer Tillman enter their sixth year together calling games for FOX Sports, opening their season in Lawrence, Kan., as Kansas hosts Coastal Carolina under the lights at 10:00 PM ET on FS1.

Each college football Saturday starts with an expanded two-hour edition of BIG NOON KICKOFF at 10:00 AM ET on FOX. Host Rob Stone is joined by analysts Brady Quinn, Reggie Bush, Matt Leinart and Urban Meyer live from the network’s Los Angeles studios. Reporter Bruce Feldman also joins the show each week, delivering the latest updates from around college football. Rules analysts Mike Pereira and Dean Blandino add their expertise on the most important calls of the day.

Led by its BIG NOON SATURDAY game of the week, FOX College Football enjoyed its most-watched regular season in 2019 with an average audience of 3,727,000 – a +12% increase over the previous year. BIG NOON KICKOFF averaged 1,206,000 in its debut season, a +23% jump over the network’s 2018 college football pregame show.

College football on FOX and FS1 is simulcast on the new FOX Sports app, which provides live streaming video of FOX Sports content through iOS and Android devices.

LOS ANGELES – FOX Sports ushers in its 27th season of in-depth NFL coverage with a talented group of seasoned hosts, expert analysts and engaging personalities headlining its Sunday and Thursday studio lineup.

On Sunday, Sept. 6, at 7:00 PM ET on FOX, the network looks ahead to the highly anticipated NFL season with a special edition FOX NFL SUNDAY 2020 SEASON PREVIEW. Veteran co-hosts Curt Menefee and Terry Bradshaw anchor the desk alongside FOX NFL analysts Howie Long and Jimmy Johnson (via remote) and FOX NFL insider Jay Glazer. The preview show features exclusive interviews from FOX NFL lead reporter Erin Andrews with Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones; FOX NFL KICKOFF analyst Michael Vick with Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes; and Glazer with Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians.

Beginning Sunday, Sept. 13, FOX NFL SUNDAY, America’s most-watched NFL pregame show for 26 consecutive years, makes its season debut at 12:00 PM ET on FOX. Menefee hosts the Emmy Award-winning pregame show along with four-time Super Bowl champ and Pro Football Hall of Famer Bradshaw. Super Bowl champions Johnson, Long and Michael Strahan flank the only NFL pregame show desk comprised entirely of Hall of Famers. Glazer, FOX’s NFL Insider, also contributes up-to-the-minute information from around the league. As previously announced, Johnson will contribute to the broadcast remotely.

FOX NFL KICKOFF immediately precedes at 11:00 AM ET on FOX. Charissa Thompson hosts the one-hour pregame show, which comes off its most-watched season, beside 14-time NFL Pro Bowler and Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez, four-time Pro Bowler Vick, Super Bowl winning-defensive coordinator Dave Wannstedt, veteran analyst/reporter Peter Schrager, longtime sports media personality Colin Cowherd and Cooper Manning, who contributes segments throughout the season.

In its third season, the network returns FOX NFL THURSDAY on Thursday, Oct. 8, at 7:30 PM ET on FOX. The show moves to FOX Sports’ Los Angeles studio, for the 2020 season only, ahead of the primetime matchup between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Chicago Bears. Menefee hosts alongside analysts Bradshaw and Gonzalez on a weekly basis. Strahan, Long and Glazer lend their voices and expertise as contributors. Strahan appears weekly from New York, while Glazer joins from Los Angeles. Long makes select appearances throughout the season.
