* The Little Rascals – The ClassicFlix Restorations, Volume 4 (ClassicFlix)
$39.99 SRP Blu-ray

—–Remastered, uncut and beautifully restored, now you can see The Little Rascals like never before! With restorations so glorious, it will be like watching these iconic shorts for the first time! With the introduction of George “Spanky” McFarland to the troupe in 1932, the “Our Gang” comedies soon embarked on one of the series’ most prolific periods of mirth making. Two years later, Hal Roach was inspired to team Spanky with a loyal sidekick: precocious child actor Scotty Beckett, whose delightful comic support of “Spank” premiered in one of Our Gang’s funniest and most beloved two-reelers, Hi, Neighbor! (1934). Spanky and Scotty often functioned as a Greek chorus to the “bigger” kids in classic outings like The First Roundup, Honky-Donkey and For Pete’s Sake (all 1934). They also displayed their broad comic range and chemistry by imitating the antics of Roach’s biggest stars, Laurel and Hardy, as in Mike Fright (1934) where Scotty’s guileless “Maybe we ain’t us” earns him a withering Hardy-like stare from his pal. The Little Rascals – The ClassicFlix Restorations, Volume 4 contains the next 12 Our Gang sound shorts produced by Roach in the “talkie era”: The Kid from Borneo (1932) to Shrimps for a Day (1934) – with each short newly scanned and restored from original Hal Roach 35mm film elements. A must-have for any true Our Gang fan, Volume 4 features the talents of George “Spanky” McFarland, Dickie Moore, Wally Albright, Bobby “Wheezer” Hutchins, Dorothy DeBorba, Matthew “Stymie” Beard, Tommy Bond, Billie “Buckwheat” Thomas, and, of course, Scotty Beckett. SHORTS: 1933: The Kid from Borneo; Mush and Milk; Bedtime Worries; Wild Poses; 1934: Hi, Neighbor; For Pete’s Sake; The First Round-Up; Honky-Donkey; Mike Fright; Washee Ironee; Mama’s Little Pirate; Shrimps for a Day.

—–One of the most influential comedies in television history, The Abbott and Costello Show – Season 1 makes its Blu-ray debut from ClassicFlix with all 26 stunningly sharp episodes in this 3 disc set on Blu-ray (or 4 discs on DVD). When Bud Abbott and Lou Costello became part of the permanent rotating group of weekly hosts on TV’s The Colgate Comedy Hour, it revitalized their careers and led to the birth of The Abbott and Costello Show, a syndicated half-hour program that premiered in 1952. The premise of the show was disarmingly simple: Bud and Lou played themselves, a pair of unemployed actors living in a rooming house run by the apoplectic Sid Fields, also playing himself. Easing their way through life in a neighborhood where crooks and sharpies lay in wait around every corner, and women walk right up to Costello for no other reason than to slap his face (“How dare you look like someone I hate!”), Bud and Lou keep the show fresh with new routines, but also perform many of their classics, including “Who’s on First?”, “Dice”, “7 x 13 = 28” and so many, many more. Newly restored from original 35mm master elements by the 3-D Film Archive, in cooperation with the Library of Congress, The Abbott and Costello Show features Hillary Brooke (as Lou’s cultured girlfriend), Gordon Jones (as stupefyingly dumb “Mike the Cop”), Joe Besser (as “Stinky”), Joe Kirk (as “Mr. Bacciagalupe”), Bingo the Chimp, as well as many other well-known TV and film entertainers.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Announces Upcoming TV and Animation Titles

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Announces Upcoming TV and Animation Titles from Warner Archive Collection in October

Burbank, CA (September 21, 2021) – Warner Bros. Home Entertainment brings consumers the opportunity to own more fan-favorite programming from the past several decades from the Warner Archive Collection. In October, three new titles will be released via Warner Archive including Tex Avery Screwball Classics Volume 3, Black Lightning: The Fourth and Final Season and Tiger: Parts One & Two.

More details on these titles are included below

Tex Avery Screwball Classics Volume 3

Available on Blu-ray & DVD 10/5/21

After altering the face of cartoon comedy at Warner Bros. with his development of characters such as Porky Pig, Daffy Duck and Bugs Bunny, Avery headed to M-G-M to further his reign of mayhem with the likes of Screwball Squirrel, Red Hot Riding Hood and Droopy. All of Avery’s star characters are featured here: Droopy, as a Mountie, a bullfighter and a Western deputy; Spike, as a hibernating bear’s weary watchdog; Red, as both Cinderella and a frontier cowgirl; and Screwball Squirrel, as – what else? – an escapee of a lunatic asylum. But it’s the stories, premises and gags that are front and center in Avery’s films – and this collection features his absolute best. Where to begin? With a cat, a mouse, a dog and a canary drinking “Jumbo Gro”; a lovelorn skunk stuck on imitating Frank Sinatra; or a baby billy goat who eats absolutely everything…including the cartoon’s background paintings? Avery’s screwball classics, his one-shot wonders, are what really made his reputation.

Black Lightning: The Fourth and Final Season

Available on Blu-Ray & DVD 10/12/21

In the fourth and final season, Jefferson Pierce (Cress Williams) returns as Black Lightning, the superpowered protector of Freeland with the ability to harness electricity. Jefferson isn’t the only one with powers, His older daughter, Anissa (Nafessa Williams) is able to drastically increase her density, giving her invulnerability and super strength. His younger daughter, Jennifer (China Anne McClain), is a fiery teen whose body generates pure electrical energy, giving her the potential to be more powerful than either Anissa or Jefferson. Lynn (Christine Adams), Jefferson’s ex-wife, is an expert in metahuman medicine. Together the Pierce family, along with covert superspy Peter Gambi (James Remar) and the metahuman Painkillerer (Jordan Calloway), faces the challenges of the eroded urban community that is Freeland, including a war between a criminal cartel backed by the infamous gangster Tobias Whale (Marvin “Krondon” Jones III) and a menacing gang that calls itself The 100.

Tiger: Parts One & Two

Available on DVD 10/19/21

From HBO Sports and Jigsaw Productions in association with Our Time Projects comes TIGER, a two-part documentary illuminating in sweeping scope and vast detail the rise, fall, and epic comeback of global icon Tiger Woods.

Born Cassius Clay, Jr., Ali rose from boxing amateur to Olympic gold medalist and heavyweight champion, just as he had promised he would at the age of twelve. He wrote his own rules – in the ring and in his life – infuriating his critics, baffling his opponents, and riveting millions of fans. He spoke his mind and stood on principle, staying true to his Islamic faith and refusing induction into the U.S. Army…even when it cost him his livelihood. Banished for his beliefs, he returned to boxing an underdog, reclaimed his title twice, and became the most famous man on earth. An intimate portrait of a larger-than-life global icon, this four-part, eight-hour documentary tells the story of an exceptional athlete whose influence transcends boxing. “He was,” the novelist Norman Mailer wrote, “the very spirit of the 20th Century.” 4-disc set in either format.
