This summer, Discovery journeys back to the vast, nearly untouched plains of Tanzania revisiting some of our favorite faces and meeting new ones along the way in SERENGETI II. The ground-breaking series highlights the majestic animals who call the Serengeti their home and their day-to-day lives living together. Created and produced by Emmy(R)-winner Simon Fuller (“American Idol,” “So You Think You Can Dance”) and directed and produced by Emmy(R)-winning wildlife filmmaker John Downer (“Penguin: Spy in The Huddle”), the continuation of the six-part series gives unrivaled access to one of the most pristine and unspoiled corners of Africa. Featuring a lush original score and narrated by Academy Award(R)-winning and Emmy(R) nominated actress Lupita Nyong’o, the revolutionary series follows the heartwarming stories of a cast of African wildlife including lions, zebras, baboons and cheetahs over the course of a year, showcasing the dramatic moments that make each day of survival on the Serengeti a feat.

The upcoming season premieres on Sunday, July 18 (episode 1 at 8pm ET/PT and episode 2 at 9:00pm ET/PT). All six episodes will be available on discovery+ on July 18th. It is the following year, and many of our loveable familiar faces are back – Kali, Sefu, Nalla, Tembo, Bakari and Shani – are living their lives in their beautiful world. And as the world turns, so does the circle of life as we are introduced to Aiysha, daughter of season 1’s KiKay and her cubs along with Shani’s stallion Punda, the leader and protector of the family and father to all of the babies.

Fuller and Downer continue their collaboration on the second season of SERENGETI and have welcomed the entire team back including composer Will Gregory and serene storyteller Lupita Nyong’o. Their work captures the experience of Africa’s unimaginable beauty with its equally unforgiving brutality, highlighting daily challenges of life on the Serengeti.

Martin’s New Series Available to Stream on discovery+ in 2022

Martin, best known from the ABC sitcom Black-ish, will serve as executive producer of the eight-episode series and will lead the design team that creates stunning bedroom overhauls for exceptional, peer-nominated youth who make a positive impact in their communities. The series will be available to stream on discovery+ in 2022.

In each episode of this globe-trotting series like no other, four talented chefs compete across three rounds of culinary gameplay as they are transported to the greatest food destinations around the world via immersive LED screen backdrops that have the chefs traveling the globe without ever having to leave the arena. During every round, Robert reveals which city the competitors are virtually traveling to, as the chefs are faced with that location’s premier cuisine and are limited to the local ingredients in preparing the most inventive and delicious global dishes possible. The chefs that cannot master the local ingredients face elimination by the judges in each round until the last competitor standing earns a trip to one of the three destinations featured in their episode. But the journey is not yet done, as the winners from the four preliminary heats meet in the finale for a chance to walk away with the $25,000 grand prize. In the premiere episode of The Globe, Robert Irvine welcomes four chefs with a love of global cuisine to a culinary experience spanning over 13,000 miles. At their first culinary destination, the chefs stop in Beijing, China, where they must use regional ingredients and only cook with the traditional Beijing hot pot and nothing more. The competitors that master the intricacies of the hot pot will move on to the next city, Tel Aviv, Israel, where they must create Israeli Shipudiya and Salatim, or skewers and salad. In the third round, Robert transports the chefs to Accra, Ghana, where the final two competitors will need to work outside their comfort zones to create dishes using plantains and cassava. Ultimately, one chef will embrace the unfamiliar ingredients best to sway guest judges Eric Adjepong, Einat Admony, and Shirley Chung to earn a spot in the finale. In another episode, Robert takes the competitors across three continents, including a stop in Memphis, Tennessee, home of the low and slow BBQ, to see which chefs will successfully move on to the final city of Kyoto, Japan, where they will face one of their most daunting challenges – creating a dish using fresh tofu for the one and only, Chef Masaharu Morimoto.
