THE DAILY SHOW WITH TREVOR NOAH AND YOUGOV REVEAL RESULTS FROM SECOND POLL

THE DAILY SHOW WITH TREVOR NOAH AND YOUGOV REVEAL RESULTS FROM SECOND POLL
Second poll asks: Which Trump family member did people want to take over the Trump dynasty?

New York, August 28, 2020 – Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Trevor Noah and YouGov announce the results from the second survey which set out to determine who has the best shot at becoming America’s next President Trump. Drum roll please… it’s a tie between Melania and Ivanka who should be the next President Trump!

In 2016, the United States elected its first purely celebrity president. In hindsight, maybe not the best idea. But since we now know that it doesn’t take anything more than being famous to become president, which politically active celebrity would Americans be most likely to vote for in 2020? Can we do a better job this time? Could we possibly do worse? Panelists were given the names of two members of the Trump family in a series of head-to-head matchups and asked who they would rather make president of the United States.

Key reveals from the second The Daily Show/YouGov Survey include:

The people have spoken and it’s a tie: Melania or Ivanka should be the next President Trump
Donald Trump’s wife, Melania Trump, was chosen as the pick for president in 57 percent of the head-to-head matchups she faced
His daughter, Ivanka Trump, was also chosen as the winner in 57 percent of her head-to-head matchups
The next person the list is President Trump himself (51%) tied with Lara Trump (51%), followed by Tiffany Trump (49%), Donald Trump Jr. (45%) and Jared Kushner (45%)
Respondents put Eric Trump in last place, with 44 percent choosing him in a head-to-head matchup against other members of his family
Notable partisan splits:

Among Democrats, person who won the most matchups is perhaps the least-well-known member of the family: Tiffany Trump (She wins 75 percent of her matchups among Democratic respondents)
The loser among the Democrats is Tiffany’s older brother, Donald Trump Jr., who succeeds in 25 percent of his matchups.
Among Republicans, President Trump commands respect with an 88% win pct. Republicans would like to see Donald Trump Jr. succeed his father, with about two-thirds (65%) choosing him in head-to-head matchups.
Tiffany Trump comes in last place with this group, with 25 percent of Republicans picking her in a head-to-head matchup.
The Daily Show/YouGov survey consisted of 1,133 panelists and ran between August 24-25. Every person was randomly assigned to see eight Trump family members, which appeared in four random head-to-head matchups. For each, respondents were asked to indicate which they would prefer to become the next president: YouGov scored individuals by looking at their “win percentage”: how often were they selected in a head-to-head matchup. The survey was carried out online. The figures have been weighted and are representative of all US adults (aged 18+).

Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Trevor Noah is the first-ever U.S. late-night series to partner with international research data and analytics group YouGov for an ongoing polling initiative. The collaboration gives The Daily Show and YouGov the ability to uncover voting trends and insights among key demographics, geographical regions and ideologies. The inaugural poll set out to determine who is favored to be America’s next celebrity president, with Morgan Freeman reigning as the top pick across party lines. This polling initiative between The Daily Show/YouGov will continue to roll out during the party political conventions and beyond. The insights will be shared on YouGov.com/thedailyshow and on both The Daily Show’s and YouGov’s various social platforms.

Key reveals from the inaugural The Daily Show/YouGov Next Celebrity President Survey include:

Morgan Freeman reigned supreme winning 81% of the head-to-head matchups he faced
Denzel Washington trailed, triumphing in 76% of his matchups
Tom Hanks (73%), Samuel L. Jackson (73%), and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (72%) rounded out the top five presidential picks
Democrats, Republicans and Independents would all be in favor of choosing a Black male celebrity to be the next celebrity president of the United States
Those in the 18-34 age range were among the only group to choose a white man as their top choice with Leonardo DiCaprio earning the highest win percentage among this age range
Among female respondents, Judge Judy and Dolly Parton are the only women to crack their top ten
Country star Billy Ray Cyrus wins more votes on average than his daughter Miley Cyrus
Over at Fox News, Brian Kilmeade would have a better chance at the presidency than Steve Doocy
YouGov ran a survey of 2,586 panelists, fielded from August 7th to August 11th, 2020. Every person was randomly assigned to see 30 different celebrities, which appeared in 15 head-to-head matchups. For each, respondents were asked to indicate “Who would you rather make president of the United States?”

COMEDY CENTRAL SIGNS DEAL WITH TWO-TIME EMMY® WINNING COMEDIAN JOHN MULANEY

COMEDY CENTRAL SIGNS DEAL WITH TWO-TIME EMMY® WINNING COMEDIAN JOHN MULANEY TO MAKE TWO NEW “SACK LUNCH BUNCH” SPECIALS

New York – July 7, 2020 – Comedy Central today announced a deal with two-time Emmy® winning comedian John Mulaney. Mulaney will headline and executive produce two original “Sack Lunch Bunch” specials, including an upcoming holiday-themed one that will reunite the cast from the original hit. The pact marks Mulaney’s return to Comedy Central where he last did a special in 2012.

Mulaney has been nominated for 16 Emmys and is a two-time winner. Additionally, he has won a WGA® Award and a Peabody® Award. Late last year, “John Mulaney & The Sack Lunch Bunch” written by Mulaney & Markia Sawyer, with music composed by Eli Bolin and directed by Rhys Thomas, premiered to excellent reviews. Rolling Stone proclaimed it “a perfect parody of children’s TV shows and a great addition to the canon.” The A.V. Club called it “spectacular.”

“We couldn’t be more excited about John’s return to Comedy Central and hope this is just the beginning of a long-standing partnership,” said Chris McCarthy, President of ViacomCBS Entertainment & Youth Brands.

Mulaney added, “I was an intern at Comedy Central when I was barely older than the kids in the “Sack Lunch Bunch.” I wasn’t a very good intern, so I am psyched they hired me again. We are thrilled to bring these specials to Comedy Central: a place where I have had so many good times.”

The former “Saturday Night Live” writer (and subsequent three-time host), has been one of the most successful comedians of the past decade with specials including “Kid Gorgeous”, “Comeback Kid”, and “New in Town.” He also previously starred in the Broadway hit, “Oh, Hello” alongside Nick Kroll and was heard in “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse”, which won the Golden Globe® for Best Animated Feature Film. He has written and appears in IFC’s “Documentary Now” and Netflix’s “Big Mouth”.

COMEDY CENTRAL DOUBLES DOWN ON ADULT ANIMATION WITH A REIMAGINED “BEAVIS AND BUTT-HEAD”

COMEDY CENTRAL DOUBLES DOWN ON ADULT ANIMATION WITH A REIMAGINED “BEAVIS AND BUTT-HEAD”

THE GEN X DEFINING LEADS ARE BACK AND ENTERING A WHOLE NEW GEN Z WORLD

NEW DEAL WITH MIKE JUDGE AND 3 ARTS ENTERTAINMENT INCLUDES ADDITIONAL SHOWS AND SPECIALS

New York – July 1, 2020 – Comedy Central today announced an expansive deal with Emmy® Award-winning Mike Judge to reimagine MTV’s seminal, Gen X-defining “Beavis and Butt-Head,” as well as additional spin-offs and specials.

Launched in 1993, “Beavis and Butt-Head” quickly became a force in pop culture and started a television revolution with its pure, unadulterated, satirical commentary on youth and adolescence. Centered around two teenage couch potatoes, “Beavis” and “Butt-Head,” the unprecedented concept immediately became part of the vernacular in a way no other adult animated series had before. Known for tackling social issues including teen obesity, workers’ rights and media trends, the show connected with an entire generation, laying claim as one of the most innovative series in the modern-day zeitgeist.

In this new iteration, “Beavis” and “Butt-head” are entering a whole new Gen Z world.

Comedy Central has ordered two seasons of the new series with meta-themes relatable to both new and old fans – Gen X parents and their Gen Z kids.

Judge is set to write, produce and provide voice over for both iconic characters.

“We are thrilled to be working with Mike Judge and the great team at 3 Arts again as we double down on Adult Animation at Comedy Central” says Chris McCarthy, President of Entertainment & Youth Group. “Beavis and Butt-Head were a defining voice of a generation, and we can’t wait to watch as they navigate the treacherous waters of a world light-years from their own.”

“It seemed like the time was right to get stupid again,” said Judge.

The deal marks a homecoming for Judge after going on to create other landmark series including “Silicon Valley” and “King of the Hill,” and movies like “Office Space” and “Idiocracy” among others. “Beavis and Butt-Head” marks a return to animation as he looks to recreate a cultural dialogue for a new generation, giving familiar fans and new audiences alike the chance to experience and laugh with America’s favorite animated duo.
