Iconic Cat and Mouse Duo Star in their First-Ever Preschool Educational Animated Series from Warner Bros. Animation

Burbank, CA (Sept. 13, 2021) – The famous cat and mouse rivals are at it again in their first-ever preschool animated series Tom and Jerry Time. Combining hilarious antics with key early learning concepts, Tom and Jerry Time aims to teach young viewers the skills they need to explore the world around them. Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, the greenlight of the original new series was announced today as part of WarnerMedia Kids & Family’s live virtual event celebrating its new Cartoonito preschool programming block, debuting today on HBO Max and Cartoon Network.

“Based on the beloved classic that so many parents grew up with, Tom and Jerry Time introduces a whole new generation to these iconic characters with a fresh and original take,” said Amy Friedman, Head of Kids and Family Programming, Warner Bros. “For our youngest audience, Sam Register and his team at Warner Bros. Both characters, known for their over-the-top personalities, are natural-born teachers, with Tom showcasing confidence and resilience while Jerry highlights ingenuity and courage. Preschoolers will be introduced to their comical mischiefs – chasing, pranking, and outsmarting each other – while also learning key social and emotional skillsets, lessons in independence, early math and literacy skills, and other key preschool educational concepts.

Sam Register (Looney Tunes Cartoons) is executive producer. Will Finn (Tom and Jerry in New York) serves as showrunner and co-executive producer with Denise Downer (Stillwater) on board as story editor.

Little Ellen, Pocoyo, The Not-Too-Late Show with Elmo Season Two, Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go(TM) and More Preschool Staples Lead New, Modern Programming Slate

Humancentric Learning Philosophy Reflected in Show Curricula Curated by Education Experts

Aug. 16, 2021 – Burbank, CA – Just in time for the school year, WarnerMedia Kids & Family will launch the Cartoonito preschool block Monday, Sept. 13 on HBO Max and Cartoon Network. The new block offers a modern approach to preschool programming with its proprietary educational framework, Humancentric Learning. A growing roster of new and library series will add to a slate that celebrates individuality and originality, while championing creativity, compassion and inclusion.

On HBO Max, Cartoonito programming will be presented as a dedicated page featuring a collection of new preschool shows including Little Ellen and the second season of the The Not-Too-Late Show with Elmo, along with other staples, Esme & Roy, Sesame Street and more.

Cartoonito on Cartoon Network will be available Monday-Friday (6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. ET/PT) and will include new series Bing, Mush-Mush & The Mushables and Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go(TM). Preschoolers and families can also tune in Saturday-Sunday (6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. ET/PT) for additional new Cartoonito shows including Lucas the Spider.

“Cartoonito’s offerings on HBO Max and Cartoon Network will reflect a wide array of diverse content that connects kids and their caregivers through relatable stories, lovable characters and meaningful social emotional learning both in and between the shows,” said Amy Friedman, Head of Kids & Family Programming, Warner Bros. “We are now in the homestretch and we can’t wait for our four hosts Nito, Glob, Wedge, and Itty to take preschoolers and their families into the expansive world of Cartoonito.”

Cartoonito strives to be a space where little ones are free to be themselves, let their creativity flourish and become caring community members. This fresh take on preschool programming is guided by Cartoonito’s proprietary Humancentric Learning framework developed in partnership with Educational Psychologist Dr. Laura Brown which aims to help children develop their unique potential and encourage them to treat others with compassion, respect, and fairness.

To align with this learning philosophy, all Cartoonito shows will have a curriculum designed by an early childhood education expert crafted to underscore one of four pillars of Humancentric Learning: Creativity, Caring, Curiosity and Courage. Little Ellen models optimism and resilience to build courage, Lucas the Spider explores his world to encourage curiosity, and other shows will help preschoolers model strengths to become the best version of themselves and interact well with others.

“The preschool years are a crucial time for development as children begin to identify, manage and communicate their emotions, build a positive self-image, and begin to make friends,” said Dr. Brown. “This learning framework aims to support these important skillsets through fun, engaging and relevant storytelling that empowers kids to feel comfortable in their own skin, believe anything is possible, treat others with kindness, and stand up to unfairness.”

Cartoonito will also offer various resources to help parents and caregivers understand each show’s curriculum and extend the learning off screen. All shows will feature a visible learning badge – a short phrase and an icon that describes what Humancentric Learning goals the show teaches. The Cartoonito parent website will include additional information about the curriculum and supplemental learning activities children and adults can play together to reinforce the learning. Parents can also follow Cartoonito on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube for all the latest news, sneak peeks and resources.

Here is Cartoonito’s programming schedule for HBO Max and Cartoon Network beginning Monday, Sept. 13:

CARTOON NETWORK STUDIOS PARTNERS WITH ACADEMY AWARD(R)-WINNING FILMMAKER MATTHEW A. CHERRY AND AWARD-WINNING DIRECTOR CHAZ BOTTOMS TO DEVELOP “BATTU”

Kids and Family Animated Musical Comedy Series Celebrates the Creative Arts Culture of Chicago Set to a Sonic Landscape Inspired by Hip-Hop Beats and Classical Broadway Melodies

Burbank, CA (July 14, 2021) – Cartoon Network Studios (CNS), Academy Award(R)-winning filmmaker Matthew A. Cherry (Hair Love) and award-winning director, animator, and writer Chaz Bottoms (Dear John: Legendary Love Letters) have begun development on Battu, a coming-of-age musical comedy series about a young group of misfit dreamers who move to their own beat.

From the French ballet term meaning beat, Battu follows teenagers Otis and Jada – two gifted dancers in Chicago whose free-spirit and individuality often leave them as outsiders in the rigid world of mainstream dance. Together they find a home at a struggling hiplet (a style of dance combining hip-hop and ballet) studio and a family among the studio’s troupe of dancers and instructors. Embracing the vibrant Chicago music scene, the soundtrack of the series will feature original music and punctuate the stories of our characters which will explore themes such as courage, self-empowerment, inclusiveness, perseverance, and the power of friendship. The project is based on Bottoms’ animated short film Battu: An Animated Musical that is currently in production.

Sam Register, President, Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios said: “Battu is unlike anything we have ever tried at the studio. This ambitious project brings together and celebrates two of our greatest storytelling mediums – animation and music. Matthew and Chaz are our perfect dance partners as we strive to tell authentic stories that both empower and entertain.”

Matthew A. Cherry said: “Chaz is one of the most exciting young voices in animation and we are thrilled to be working with Sam Register, Nicole Rivera and the rest of the Cartoon Network Studios team to develop Battu.”

Chaz Bottoms said: “I grew up on a healthy diet of Cartoon Network shows and to be working with them on Battu is a dream come true! This project is my love letter to the city of Chicago, animation, and musicals.”

Battu will be produced by Cartoon Network Studios. Sam Register, Matthew A. Cherry, Chaz Bottoms and Monica A. Young (Hair Love) serve as executive producers.

Chaz Bottoms is represented by Monica A. Young at Blue Key Management, Ava Greenfield of ICM Partners and Attorney Gregg Gellman of Morris Yorn.
