Judges working from Philadelphia, Tampa, and Chicago will hear the cases and, sometimes, let viewers weigh in on the outcome.

Vinnie Politan is an Emmy(R) Award-winning journalist who has covered the nation’s biggest trials and the justice system for over twenty years. He is the lead anchor for Court TV and has covered many high-profile cases. Politan is a licensed attorney, and previously worked as a prosecutor in New Jersey before moving into private practice focusing on commercial litigation, labor law and intellectual properties.

Judge Greg Mathis is a former judge for the Michigan 36th District Court and the two-time Emmy(R) Award-winning host of “Judge Mathis.” His inspirational life story of a street youth who rose from jail to Judge has provided hope to millions. Judge Mathis is known for his advocacy campaigns for urban youth and equal justice. He is Chairman for Jesse Jackson’s PUSH Excel and previously served as a national board member of the NAACP and the Morehouse School of Medicine. Judge Mathis opened the Mathis Community Center in his hometown of Detroit and has helped thousands with his non-profit agency Young Adults Asserting Themselves. He and his family star in “Mathis Family Matters.”

Retired Judge Vonda Evans presided over legal cases in Detroit and the County of Wayne, IL as a Wayne County Circuit Court Judge for 22 years. Prior to that, she served as a Wayne County Assistant Prosecutor in the Criminal and Family Divisions. Evans currently heads her own law firm handling business disputes, insurance claims, police misconduct, and medical malpractice cases.

Overseen by Principal Blanca Cruz, the Roybal Film and Television Production Magnet will provide Los Angeles Unified teachers with access to renowned storytellers, along with industry professionals and experts, and support students with a robust academic education and practical training, providing a foundational understanding of the media and entertainment industry, while preparing them for below-the-line professions. Returning for an all-new season, “60 Days In” locks down Henry County Jail in Georgia just outside of Atlanta which can house approximately 800 inmates. The recently elected Sheriff Reginald Scandrett, who came in on a platform of improving the jail and reducing recidivism, is enlisting seven formerly incarcerated participants to go undercover in an effort to find valuable information to help improve jail conditions. For the first time in the series’ history, all participants have previously been arrested for crimes of their own and collectively have served more than 40 years behind bars. Will these formerly incarcerated participants be able to survive everything thrown their way during the voluntary stint in jail or will the challenges of going back behind bars be too much for them to handle?

New groundbreaking documentary series, “Inmate to Roommate,” follows recently released inmates as they re-enter society and move in with everyday people who are welcoming them into their homes. The documentary traces the history of Black comedy and its under-appreciated legacy of driving social change across the 20th and 21st centuries. From Redd Foxx, Moms Mabley and Dick Gregory during the civil rights movement, Richard Pryor in the 70s, Eddie Murphy and Whoopi Goldberg in the 80s, to the power of In Living Color and Def Comedy Jam in the 90s, Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle in the 2000s and groundbreaking modern-day comedians and creators like Key & Peele, Issa Rae, Amber Ruffin and Tiffany Haddish. Across four hours, “Right to Offend” explores the rare position these artists and many more hold in our society as both entertainers and truth tellers that speak to audiences in ways no other performers can.

Featuring interviews with some of the greatest comedy minds of all time as well as a rich collection of archival material, the two-part event reveals the personal stories and tribulations faced by many Black performers in attaining greater acceptance and opening the doors for a true representation of the Black experience. The documentary also traces how each generation of comedians built upon the foundations created by their predecessors to help evolve and push the boundaries of comedy as a means for social change and fought for a greater definition and understanding of what it means to be Black in America.

In each one-hour episode, “Origins of Hip Hop” delves into the inspiring origin story of one of Hip Hop’s biggest stars as collaborators, friends, family, and the artists themselves take viewers to where their stories began and trace their path to success. In intimate interviews, each artist will reflect on the moments that shaped them, the obstacles they have overcome, and the lessons learned along the way. The series further brings these stories to life through narration by renowned rapper Nas, rare archival footage of the stars, and their beloved music. The premiere episode of “Origins of Hip Hop” focuses on the journey and struggles of one of the genre’s first Latino superstars, Fat Joe, as he reflects on the immense highs and lows of his career and life so far.

Exploring the impact of Hip Hop even further, A&E will be launching a podcast that will continue the conversation around the genre. Coming this May.
