First Season of the College Thriller Series “In the Vault” Breaks 3.4 Million Views in the First Month on Crackle, Making it the Most-Watched New Release of the Year

Crackle Plus, a Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment (Nasdaq: CSSE) company and one of the largest operators of advertising-supported video-on-demand (AVOD) streaming services, announced today that the series In the Vault has garnered over 3.4 million views since its premiere June 1, making it one of the most-watched new shows on Crackle.

The eight-part thriller series starring Audrey Whitby, Claudia Lee, Anthony Granaderos, and Sydney Sweeney follows students at Woodlawn College, where a student is killed at a campus party. The series focuses on the murdered student’s surviving dorm hallmates. Each individual possesses their own secret that may or may not serve as a motive for the dark deed that has taken place. No one is safe from the suspicions of others as each episode spotlights a different student as they move from being the protagonist one week to a suspect the next.

“We are so excited to see our audience responding to the fun nail-biting edge-of-your-seat thrill-fest that is In the Vault,” said Jeff Meier, head of programming for Crackle Plus. “We thought this series would be a big hit, but the strong word of mouth and social buzz our fans are giving it exceeds even our wildest expectations.”

Season two of the show will premiere as a Crackle Original later this year, with exciting new cast members joining the student body of Woodlawn College. The plot thickens as the students continue to dig into the mystery of the previous season while fresh intrigue cries out from under the very ground on which they stand.

Crackle’s Original Series Going From Broke is Back for Season 3

Crackle, a Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment, Inc. (Nasdaq: CSSE) company, announced today that the award-winning Crackle original series Going From Broke, backed by executive producer Ashton Kutcher (That 70’s Show, No Strings Attached) and Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment, is back for season three.

Premiering only on Crackle Plus streaming services in December 2022, the unscripted series focuses on helping millennials overcome their crippling financial struggles. Americans are graduating from college with an ever-increasing amount of student loans, average credit card debts also continue to rise amid a shrinking pool of employment opportunities, and all of this is compounded from the effects of the worldwide pandemic. To make matters worse, most Americans lack the basic financial literacy to get themselves out of their current circumstances. Going From Broke host Dan Rosensweig, chief executive officer of Chegg, and from season two, financial expert Tonya Rapley will return to work with young people to become the CEO of their own lives.

“Dan and I are so excited to be bringing this series back for another season,” said co-producer Ashton Kutcher. “This is a show where we follow folks who are in financial dire straits, give them tools, tips, and guidance as to how to find escape velocity in a real-world practical way that will affect their real-world practical life.”

“It can be daunting for Millennials and now Gen Z to navigate their path toward financial well-being without easy access to trusted resources,” said Philippe Guelton, president of Crackle Plus. “With Americans holding over $800 billion in credit card debt, our team plans to continue our mission to bridge the gap for our audience. Going From Broke is not only informative but also aspirational, entertaining and important to our viewers in so many ways.”

“Going From Broke equips and empowers those struggling with crippling debt with practical steps to improve their financial futures and become the CEO of their lives,” host Dan Rosensweig said. “It is inspiring to see the participants strive, persevere, and transform on their path to financial freedom.”

In addition to Kutcher and Mike van Reekum, the series will be executive produced by Michael Winter and William J. Rouhana, Jr. from Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment, Laura deNey and Mustafa Bhagat from Flicker Filmworks, and Dan Rosensweig and Heather Hatlo Porter, from series sponsor Chegg.

New Robust Slate of Original Programming, Product Updates, and the Launch of its Branded Content Studio at 2022 NewFronts Announced by Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment’s Crackle Plus

Crackle Plus, a Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment, Inc. (Nasdaq: CSSE) company and one of the largest operators of advertising-supported video-on-demand (AVOD) streaming services, took the virtual NewFronts stage today to unveil its upcoming slate of original and exclusive programming and its new Branded Content Studio.

This past month, Crackle Plus launched its highly anticipated Chicken Soup for the Soul AVOD streaming service, dedicated to featuring diverse, female-centric programming, offering over 5,000 content assets at launch, including many originals and exclusive content, both scripted and unscripted.

“What better time to seek positive change and create content that makes the world a better place, a mission pursued for over 30 years by our parent company Chicken Soup for the Soul. We want to invite advertisers to join us in developing content that matters. Our new Branded Content Studio offers a unique opportunity to integrate their brand right into the viewer experience,” said Philippe Guelton, president of Crackle Plus.

Additionally, Crackle Plus increased its access to 100K+ hours of original content from Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment sister company Screen Media Ventures, which recently acquired Locomotive Global and 1091 Pictures, following its acquisition last year of the film and television assets of Sonar Entertainment, Inc.

Screen Media also entered a multi-year content deal with BBC Studios that will bring more than 2,500 hours of premium content to all current and future Crackle Plus streaming services, kicking off the deal with exclusive rights to the Emmy-award winning series Sherlock starring Benedict Cumberbatch, which is available now on Crackle.

On the product front, Crackle Plus has also been relaunching new versions of its Crackle AVOD apps and has seen tremendous growth in user engagement, with a 42% faster start time, 40% increased viewership and 200% decrease in ad exits. Crackle announced the upcoming launch of its Crackle Reward Program, where viewers will earn points for watching content on Crackle that can be redeemed for in-app rewards or services and/or products from its partners.

Additionally, Crackle Plus announced the addition of five linear channels to the Crackle Plus portfolio of FAST channels, which now includes:

Backed by the company’s TV production division, Chicken Soup for the Soul Television Group, which produces a wide range of content, from the Mysterious Benedict Society on Disney Plus to Hunters on Amazon Prime, Crackle Plus announced the launch of its Branded Content Studio, designed to create new opportunities for advertisers to reach and connect with new audiences more effectively. It is being led by Crackle Plus’ new head of branded entertainment, Michele Fino, an industry veteran who previously served as head of branded entertainment at Fremantle, Collective Digital Studio and worked with a number of not-for-profit organizations, including as the chief marketing officer of DoSomething.org. To further provide brands with more measurable data, Crackle has partnered with UpWave, the leading analytics platform for brand marketers across social, linear and digital.

Darren Olive, executive vice president, national advertising sales & strategy at Crackle Plus, added, “In addition to reaching over 40 million monthly active users, we are uniquely positioned to tailor opportunities based on what we know our advertising partners are looking for – targeted and flexible campaign opportunities. Our core demo continues to double down on quality free programming. They are also savvy decision-makers, so brands have the additional value proposition of collaborating with us at the outset of the creative process to more organically connect with viewers.”

“Whether offering a different perspective like original series Inside The Black Box, or high octane suspense like the feature film Blast, we’re incredibly thoughtful about the range of original and exclusive content programmed on Crackle and Chicken Soup for the Soul,” said Jeff Meier, head of programming for Crackle Plus. “Our upcoming slate is reflective of our continued commitment to delivering high-quality content and providing something special for every viewer.”

Crackle Original French Thriller Blast to Premiere May 5

Crackle Plus, a Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment (Nasdaq: CSSE) company and one of the largest operators of streaming advertising-supported video-on-demand (AVOD) networks, announced today that original feature film Blast will premiere May 5, exclusively on Crackle.

The French thriller is the debut film of director Vanya Peirani-Vignes who also wrote the screenplay alongside Pablo Barbetti (casting for such films as Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets and Lucy) with photography led by Cesar Award-winning French cinematographer Thierry Arbogast. It stars Nora Arnezeder as the lead Sonia, as well as Pierre Kiwitt (Das Boot, Mr. Stein Goes Online) and Sara Mortensen (In Safe Hands, Contact).

Blast takes place in a Parisian parking lot, where Sonia finds herself trapped in her car with her son and the daughter of her boyfriend Fred, who has been left outside, powerless to deal with the situation: an anti-tank mine has been set under the car. Sonia is a bomb-disposal expert who works for a non-government organization with Fred. She just got back from a mission in Ukraine, and while she’s used to facing dangerous situations, with the children’s lives on the line, the stakes have never been higher. Along with colleagues Igor and Camille, who came to the rescue, Sonia and Fred have 30 minutes to diffuse the bomb and determine who could be the mastermind behind it. Will they stand united until the end, or will the family implode under pressure?

“This high-concept thriller is disarming in more ways than one and is just the kind of quality content our viewers expect from Crackle,” said Jeff Meier, head of programming for Crackle Plus. “We’re excited to launch Blast on May 5 and know the audience will be on the edge of their seats from start to finish.”

The film is produced by Paris-based Wide and is distributed in the U.S. by Screen Media.

The Crackle Plus streaming services are currently distributed through 70 touchpoints in the U.S. on platforms including Amazon FireTV, RokuTV, Apple TV, Smart TVs (Samsung, LG, Vizio), gaming consoles (PS4 and Xbox One), Plex, iOS and Android mobile devices and on desktops at Crackle.com, with previously announced plans to expand to over 90 touchpoints. Crackle is also available in approximately 500,000 hotel rooms in the Marriott Bonvoy chain.
