“BET HIP HOP AWARDS” 2022 PREMIERES TUESDAY, OCTOBER 4 AT 9 PM ET/PT ON BET
NEW YORK, September 29, 2021 – Today, BET announced Baby Tate, Big Boss Vette, Deetranada, Guapdad 4000, Jayson Cash, Ray Vaughn, Reuben Vincent, Sa-Roc, Sauce Walka and Topaz Jones as this year’s on-air cypher talent for “BET Hip Hop Awards.” The show will also unleash a digital-exclusive cypher featuring rising stars Armani Caesar, Kentheman, Nana, Navelle Hice, OT The Real, Yung Pooda, and several social cypher surprises that will compliment the on-air tentpole event. Additionally, BET is expanding its digital programming to bring fans the ultimate hip hop experience leading up to, during and post “BET Hip Hop Awards” 2022, with the premiere of hit series “Rate The Bars” Season 6 and the debut of two new originals, “A Series of Firsts” and “Finish This.” For the first-ever acclaimed podcast “Million Dollaz Worth of Game,” and DJ Envy will host the Nissan Digital Twitter Pre-Show for the second year in a row, interviewing luminaries and celebrated artists on the Red Carpet.

Season 6 of “Rate The Bars” streams new episodes every Thursday on the BET official YouTube Channel – Fivio Foreign, Millyz, Kalan FrFr, and Big Boss Vette kick off the sixth season of hit hip hop series “Rate The Bars.” Rappers read anonymous verses from their contemporaries, old school MCs and newer artists, grading them on a scale of zero to five while offering thoughts on the craft behind great lyrics. Fivio Foreign appears in the premiere episode where he rates the bars of a wide range of artists. “A Series of Firsts” launches next week on the BET official YouTube Channel – In “A Series of Firsts,” rappers will share their personal stories reminiscing about their first hip hop concert, the first album they purchased, when they first fell in love with the artform, their first fan/stan moment, or the first time they heard their music played in public. “BET Hip Hop Awards” 2022 host Fat Joe, Jim Jones, Fivio Foreign, and DDG will reveal all when the series premieres next week on the BET official YouTube Channel.
“Finish This”launches Sunday, October 2 on the BET official YouTube Channel – “Finish This” is a mash-up of BET Digital’s ‘Watch & React’ and “Don’t Forget the Lyrics” in celebration of “Pass The Mic.” The new original series asks celebrity contestants to watch popular “Pass The Mic” episodes and are tasked with correctly finishing the lyric/ bar. Correctly finishing the song earns a great score and ultimate bragging rights. “Finish This: Jim Jones” premieres Sunday, October 2 on the BET official YouTube channel.
“BET Hip Hop Awards” Red Carpet:
Rapper/actor @GillieDaKing and social media influencer/disruptor @Wallo267 of the popular podcast ‘The Million Dollaz Worth of Game’ will host the BET Digital red carpet show, bringing you exclusive interviews from the carpet. Additionally, legendary rapper and ventriloquist Twista and sidekick Lil Twista will also bring you the latest from hip hop’s hottest talent. DJ Envy also returns to bring you all the buzz from the carpet.

Hip Hop Awards Water Challenge: Influencer Chaz Bruce went viral in a game to finish popular Hip Hop lyrics where their knowledge will be put to the test. If the player can’t finish the lyrics, they’ll face the consequences of being dunked in a pool.
Ladies’ Room: The ladies are dominating hip hop right now! Female MCs will come together to discuss the current state of hip hop, from politics, women’s empowerment, to what it takes to be a woman in the game today. Get ready to take some notes!
#RedCarpetMoment Spotlight: BET and Snapchat have teamed up for the first-ever #RedCarpetMoment Spotlight Challenge, hosted by BET Hip Hop Awards with Fat Joe. Starting today through October 4th, Snapchatters have the chance to win a share of $10,000 USD by going to the Spotlight Trending Page and submitting a video using the “Green Screen” feature showing off their red carpet look! The top Snap will receive $5,000; with $3,000 and $2,000 for 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Spotlight is Snapchat’s in-app entertainment platform for UGC.
