BURBANK, Calif. (Aug. 31, 2022) – Today, Disney+ shared a clip and photographs showing hundreds of fin whales in the largest feeding aggregation ever filmed as part of the upcoming Disney+ Original series from National Geographic, “Epic Adventures with Bertie Gregory.”
The filming of the second largest whales on the planet, some growing up to 90 feet long, took place in the Drake Passage off the tip of the Antarctica Peninsula. To capture the almost mythical wildlife filmmaking event – which doubled the previous record and included 300 whales along with albatross, thousands of sea birds and a huge amount of other marine wildlife – it took Nat Geo Explorer Bertie Gregory and his film crew six weeks aboard a small 75-foot-long, ice-strengthened sailboat. Battling terrible weather conditions and 95 knots of wind, Bertie and the team managed to capture the moment utilizing three different camera techniques: drones for an aerial perspective, a military-grade gyrostabilized camera system for water-level filming, and diving equipment to reveal this spectacle from underwater.
“As summer turns to autumn in Antarctica, the day length becomes very short and the weather gets bad. We ended up having just six good filming days in our six-week expedition. Our hard work paid off as we managed to find the largest gathering of fin whales ever filmed. Diving amongst this unbelievable wildlife gathering was certainly the most extraordinary animal encounter I’ve been fortunate enough to have,” says Bertie Gregory.

Along with capturing the meeting of the massive whales, the expedition’s other goal was to allow scientists who monitor fin whale migration patterns to collect data by tagging the whales for a better understanding of these relatively poorly studied animals. Filming such an enormous aggregation of fin whales, which were hunted to the verge of extinction during the 20th century, is a very encouraging sign, suggesting that their numbers are bouncing back following the ban on commercial whaling. Positive conservation stories are rare these days, and this is a dramatic example of nature’s resilience when given a chance to recover.

New York [August 31, 2022] HGTV has ordered a new eight-episode season of hit series Lil Jon Wants To Do What? starring the GRAMMY Award(R)-winning producer, rapper and DJ turned out-of-the box home renovator, Lil Jon. The series, which attracted more than 12.7 million total viewers in its freshman run, showcases Lil Jon as he lights up boring homes with his startlingly unconventional renovations. During the new season, Lil Jon, alongside popular designer and expert builder Anitra Mecadon, will push his creative vision to bold new heights, maxing out homes with over-the-top features that wow homeowners and fans alike. The new season is scheduled to premiere on HGTV and be available to stream on discovery+ in Spring 2023.

Linda Mendoza to Direct the First Two Episodes of Netflix’s New Scripted Comedy Series
Logline: Survival of the Thickest centers on Mavis Beaumont (Michelle Buteau). Black, plus-size and newly single (not by her choice!), Mavis unexpectedly finds herself having to rebuild her life as a struggling stylist. She’s determined to not only survive but thrive with the support of her chosen family, a body-positive attitude, and a cute v-neck with some lip gloss. The scripted comedy is based on Buteau’s acclaimed book of essays.
· Tone Bell will play Khalil, Mavis’s bestie and first phone call since high school. He’s a creative and talented artist who has always prided himself on making life choices that keep things simple, affordable (nothing wrong with clipping coupons!), and uncomplicated. But now in his very late 30s, he starts to question what really matters and if life is worth complicating for the right person.
· Tasha Smith will play Marley, an early 50’s self-made millionaire. She’s a woman of NYC status who always has a fresh luxury manicure and the best day and night serums money can buy (we love to see it!). She gives that Aries tell-it-like-it-is energy, but there’s still an ever-present warm big sister vibe. She just wants the best for everybody, and she knows what the best is.

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. – Aug. 31, 2022 – Nickelodeon and the NFL, in conjunction with CBS Sports, are bringing Slimetime back to primetime for a second season of the Sports Emmy Award-nominated NFL Slimetime, premiering Wednesday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m. (ET/PT). Combining Nick-ified highlights, expert advice and special guest appearances, NFL Slimetime is a fun-filled weekly NFL experience for kids and families to enjoy together. The half-hour series (23 episodes) will regularly air Wednesdays at 7 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon through Wednesday, Feb. 15, the week after Super Bowl LVII, with episodes available to stream on Paramount+ the following day.
The second season of NFL Slimetime will feature: even more epic Nick-ified Slimelights; the “Best Play Ever,” showcasing the standout play of the week; the weekly NVP (Nickelodeon’s “Most Valuable Player”) trophy winner, announced by Lincoln Loud; interviews with some of the NFL’s biggest stars; celebrity guest game picks; youth football spotlights; and more.
CBS Sports analyst and former NFL standout Nate Burleson and Nick star Young Dylan (Dylan Gilmer, Tyler Perry’s Young Dylan) will return as hosts, breaking down plays and games from the week and taking on celebrity guests in a segment predicting game winners. Each episode will also feature: new correspondent Mia Burleson, with the “Big Time, Big Facts” segment, offering kid-friendly game notes and fun facts on upcoming matchups; returning correspondent Dylan Schefter and football kid commentator George Johnston IV; and Lincoln Loud (The Loud House) who will also continue to announce the NVP of the week.
An episode of NFL Slimetime will air Sunday, Dec. 25, at 12 p.m. (ET) on the CBS Television Network and stream live on Paramount+, in advance of CBS Sports and Nickelodeon’s production of its nationally-televised NFL game between the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Rams airing at 4:30 p.m. (ET) later that day. CBS Sports’ traditional presentation will be broadcast on the CBS Television Network and available to stream live on Paramount+ while a special slime-filled telecast tailored for family-viewing fun will air exclusively on Nickelodeon.
